Based off the original invention by Theo Jansen, the Strandbeest is a mechanical walking creature that harnesses the power of the wind. This particular version uses a large 3D printed rotor at the back. The power from the wind is transferred through a gear box and to the main shaft that drives each leg module.
The Toronto Strandbeest is capable of walking completely on its own. It can also sit comfortably on its display stand (included in the STL package) so you can watch the walking mechanism do it's thing!
Amazing we had so much fun ! We've just done it with the family, it was fairly quick to print in Bambu Lab ludicrous mode (about 8 hours). Luckily we had a leaf blower to make it walk, WD40 was not sufficient to mitigate the frictions in the numerous joints and having it working with a fan. I've printed the parts with Polymaker Polyterra (which is a bit grainy) on a PEI Textured build plate, the grain and the texture resulted in excessive friction, if you don't have a blower I recommend to print on a glass plate and use filament that produce less friction

want to let you know that on the pre layout inner module the short link outer are fused together, fortunetly the individual part is spaced apart so i just printed them seperate but thought id report the problem
