I really attempted mixed media with this piece, but I regret doing the background! Should I try this challenge again? 👀💙
Yess
Yes, please!!! I’d love to see Ohuhu markers and colored pencils. 😊
Yes!!
I would love to see a comparison. I think you did an excellent job with the supplies that you had. Blessings.
Definitely
I'd love to see a side by side comparison of your favorite products against this case. You did amazing for the tools you had! 💙

Fun fact: your supposed to put water in the markers to make them work, thats why you can take the bottoms off
What!? My childhood was a LIE.
Almost makes me want to buy one just to see how much better they'd work...
Thanks for the info!
How'd you figure that out that's what I want to know lol thanks for the info
@@ashleeporter34 other RUclips videos lol, yeah I'm not entirely sure if it actually works cause I've never tried but makes sense right?? 😂
Whyyyy don’t they put this on the box? that’s just rude of them
Oooooo
Remembering myself when I was a child being excited having this. until this day I still don't know what's that small bottle for. And it smells awful 😭
It’s glue I think cuz I tried using i5 a phew years back
It's for the watercolor
The bottle is too spray the water on the water colour😊
@@louisechurch6270 it doesn't smell like glue tho.. it smells awful
I don’t have one like this, but I have one like this, but more better
It’s nice to have you back! I’ve been using your sketch transfer technique for a while now, I almost forgot I learned it from you. It’s so helpful. It takes away the fear of messing up the sketch in the coloring stage. I can go for it, knowing that I can always just try again with a “copy” of the original sketch.
Yes, I’d love to see you try oil pastels.
Yes exactly! ❤️
Ik I love her she was my childhood ✨✨✨
An oil pastel video would be great!!!! Its something I want to learn and experiment with too!!
You haven’t made a video In days
@@sofiaposada9413 why do u care
I agree she should make one
I feel so nostalgic watching you open that children’s art set! My grandma used to get me these kits when I was younger and was my gateway to art. But man, I was screaming with those first layers of markers! 😅 those markers just rip up the paper, gunk up and bleed. And those watercolors 💀
FRRRR
Girl that looks great! I must admit I was quite surprised with how well some of the supplies worked. Those watercolours and that brush though- 😂
It be looking like my crappy mascara and eyeshadow palate 😭
You should definitely try this challenge again in the future! Keep it going Temi 💙
As a kid i use to lick the hell out of the marker tips praying for some ink 😂😂
😂😂😂
Fr tho same 💀
Bc Frrrrrrrr💀
lol
💀💀 why 💀💀
for oil pastels, i put a bit of baby oil on a cotton bud then lightly rub over the oil pastels in little circles. works the best for blending colours together but you need really thick paper for it
I enjoy oil pastels! In my experience, the type of paper really matters and you can usually get good results with budget pastels. paper has to have some texture/ grit to it otherwise they will not blend at all and stay streaky. Brown paper bags work nicely. I'd love to see a video with you trying them out!
That crappy brush brought me back to my childhood... all the dollar store art sets had it. Pretty sure that was what put me off painting for 10 years
I don’t think I could have made something that good with those supplies:) and also you and a handful of other have inspired me so much!!! I even started a art channel!!!❤
Ayeee good luck with your channel!
@@TemiDansoArt thanks!!!❤️
People might disagree, but you could make art with anything.
I actually agree with you bc really you can if your a artist theres no limit to what you can do…. Unless you have art block
So your telling me I can use cucumbers to make art
But some u can like this as example:

seeing those markers takes me back 😬 crazy seeing them actually work!? I only ever remember them being dry as anything 😂
Yeah bc some kits required you to add water to the pens since the bottoms were removable for that reason. Other kits had the water already added in so they worked well.
would love to see you try this again with your professional supplies. also an all oil pastel would be awesome! ❤
My A-level art teacher shoehorned me into doing massive sized oil pastel pieces for my final exams in Fine Art. I feel you on having a vendetta against them because my fingers had indents in them by the time I was through. If it's any consolation, I think applying the fluid at least got rid of the negative spaces left behind by the paper's texture, just not with the same consistency. I have no doubt that with better grade oil pastels, it would have been a more smooth finish.
That aside, I think you were very resourceful with these materials, even if the quality wasn't stellar. I feel like the sharp and rigid bristles on the original paintbrush was intended to scratch up the paint pallettes since they have a chalky consistency from my recollection. I also remember my own set's reaction to water was inconsistent - some were really pigmented while others were very faint.
The markers were definitely the saving grace of this kit! When I was a kid, I used them until they were gasping for moisture. And they seemed to have applied really well for the central part of the illustration here!
Good work as always, Temi!
Gurlllll your nails are just like can we have minute to appreciate her beautiful nailssss ❤😍🥹💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾
GUrl got everyones dream (edit : mom she got my dream gift I want them waaaaaaaa mom: uh just shut up santa will just get you one but your on the naughty list we can’t change it🙄😒😒😒
Yes to the oil pastels in your future video! :) I use oil paints mineral spirit to create an even blend with oil pastels for backgrounds, it works very well. And suprisingly, the best paper I've discovered so far for them is watercolor paper (cold pressed, 100% cotton). And Mungyo have great affordable price/ quality ratio oil pastels.
I think the drawing turned out great,, especially with the supplies you used. I really enjoyed the video! :)
I got a kit just like this for my birthday when I was 6 or 7 and I used the scissors to cut my own bangs 😨😬😂
😂😂😂😂
I’m so happy you reordered, that was what I’d do and was hoping you’d do!! Thank you!! 😂😂
I had a similar at set as a kid, and those crayons were the worst. I remember them being very waxy.
The absolute worst! I don’t know what I was thinking to take this on😂😂
I’d love to see you redo this with your preferred medium! Also, just imo but I think the reference you used also did you wrong, I know it’s stylized but there is some anatomy mistakes in it and general weirdness with some of the proportions. I feel like finding just a hand to reference and using that image to get a feel for how to do the chrome effect would help a bit there.
Agreed! It looks more wrong than stylized, not sure why
Temi, that looks legit🔥 I don't think I could have done that, I would have had panic attacks and probably stop making art completely 😂. Anyways, I love you and your art It inspires me (I'm currently studying engineering btw) You inspire me to follow my passion ❤ . Hopefully I will too leave this profession and become a full time artist ❤❤❤❤
1:20, no, you are not the only one. I also want every colourful thing in rainbow order. 😅
I’d love to see a full oil pastel video, they’re my favorite medium!! From my experience it really comes down to the paper you have, even crayola oil pastels work very well on the right type of paper.
Do you have any recommendations for good oil pastel paper?
@@TemiDansoArt They work wonderfully on canvas panels, so i would suggest canvas like paper, or canvas panels themselves. But if yoy use paper, it needs a little bit of tooth to grab on too so sanding helps before using them, unless the paper already works well. I can’t recommend any specific products because I’ve had oil pastel paper perform worse than non oil pastel paper before😂
I remember being a kid and adoring those types of sets and i always had this sensation to organize everything in rainbow order
I love your videos and I am a beginner artist so these are really helpful😊
I enjoy watching BlackBean CMS do oil pastels so I'd like to see you working with them. Watching the pigment glide onto the paper is so satisfying.
People who had these as a kid 👇
Your video just landed in my feed, Temi and you've got a new subscriber! You've got a huge amount of talent. I've watched a couple of your older pencil sketch videos too. I used to sketch but could never get portraits right. If always get frustrated and throw them away. 😂 I've been watching fluid artists for a couple of years now but I've always been drawn to mixed media. That's what drew me to you. Thx for sharing your talent, creativity and expertise. 💜
A video i reluctantly clicked..... and its not you. Its THAT thing you're holding !!
Those "art kits" are pure evil haha
😂😂
I love Temi so much.❤And her tutorials, mwah chef’s kiss.👩🏿🍳
Even with the crappy materials, you still did 1000% better than I could do lol.

I got that in first grade it was my first set when I used it I loved the vibrate colours and every stroke of it I loved it that’s when I fell ing love with art
Welcome back - you look extra beautiful in this video=) (you always are !) These sets always had such terrible erasers and watercolours - worst memory ever. The end result looks pretty neat, I wouldn't have created something like this with such supplies=)
Being Indian I can very well remember this kit...like I got pairs of this every year on my birthday like EVERY YEAR from my relatives n friends !!
i used to use one of these all the time at my grandparents, it was a winnie the pooh one and i loved it. i hated those brushes even then though and the way you used it lmao, i genuinely have no clue what those brushes are good for
I’m convinced those brushes have ZERO use! Like could you just put 1 good brush in there?!
Omg I really love ur art temi I wish u were my art teacher
I can feel the dryness of those markers in my bones but it really made you feel like an artist.
I really like it!I am not kidding this is really impressive!❤️💕I cannot even do this great!when the final result was shown for me this was like the exact type that you showed on your device
Keep up your great art work👍🏻
Girl you’ve got to be more gentle and build up at least with bad oil pastels cause they can be really hard to work with 😭
The reorganisation bit reminded me of scott christian sava attempting to reorder his ohuhu markers
For the water color I believe you have to use that little gel bottle on the side for slightly better results
u r one of those people who make watching art and drawing videos rlly fun and interesting and not just like u r watching a robot draw a stick man. I love ur work
Thank you so much 😀
It looks so good for how booty cheeks that art supplies is.
When using kids oil pastels with my Son, I use kitchen roll paper to blend. It works. Great vid
Girl, where have you been?! It has been over a month since you last posted! I was starting to get worried!! I missed your videos so much, but thank you for uploading such another great one!! As always, it’s nice to see your beautiful face and fun ideas for art!! 😊❤
I would love to see a video of you trying out oil pastels. Crayola has a set of oil pastels called Portfolio Series Water Soluble oil pastels 24 count that I have tried and liked. You could compare those to their kid ones with their regular packaging. They have a 12 count neon set of their regular ones that look like they would be fun to experiment with
The ones I got the markers were always dead *Traumatised* 😂
😅😅
Please post more often!!
We miss you 😭😭
Oh my goodness, the first thing I do when I get a new set of any art supplies is re-organize the colors!!!
tbh I love it , it’s definitely not holographic but it kinda looks like a tech sci-fi glove reaching out, definitely my style. I have only Been watching your for a couple of days so I’m not sure if that’s your style but personally it’s my thing and I think this piece looks AMAZING!!!
Hi tami I love ur vids and also I had this set when i was a kid sooooooo
Me too😅
the side by side would be soooo fun :D
It turned out amazing!! I have had these kits laying around in the store room for years... This motivates me to challenge myself-
Also if I were to do the background I would dip one of the blue markers in water and make watercolor to paint it.
Even cheap sketch pens make really good watercolors
BROO i have the same kit cause my lil sis let me have it
That's what my mom gets to me whenever i want a new art supplies but sometimes i get lucky cause sometimes she buy new Art supplies or order art supplies in Faber castell.
The brush i got in that set is soo smooth and soft easy to use😊
that was my first art set 😥😭 and will never forget it
The rearranging was so satisfying 😂❤
SHIVERING when that plastic brush hit that paint
😅😅
“I don’t love the length, I feel like it’s a bit awkward to hold.”
😂😂😂
"I'm sure you're also traumatized" I mean... I am traumatized, but that's besides the point 😂
I had this children’s art set but it wasn’t me that got it. It was my older brother’s when he drew a lot. At some point, he didn’t want it anymore and gave it to me because I’m the art kid now. He got two other sets of art supplies that had fancier cases but he also gave those to me. I still have the two cases but the one was thrown away because it was torn apart.
not the pencil crayons having to be in rainbow order😭😭😭
love this video!
and also I’d LOVE if you could try oil pastels!❤❤
I got this art set yearly into my teenage years because my whole family knew I like to draw. 😭
I got that when I was younger! It still sits in the corner of my room as a spider made it’s babies there and will escape if I mess with it.
Try blending the oil pastel with a tissue/your finger/toilet paper.Toilet paper is the best way to blend it I tried it before
I think u did the best u could with the supplies u challenged yourself to use 👍🏾I would love to see u do your take on the little mermaid 🧜🏾♀️ with the movement of water in the background ❤
you’re the only one that organizes your colors pencils I do too
I think those markers are water-based rather than alcohol-based, which is why they’re streaky and don’t blend well. These markers that are made for kids are generally water-based
What you want for your birthday: ❤
What you get:
A kid in my class has the first one, some other kid asked where that kid brought the first box and he said "it was shipped from another country" damn our kids in my class are so jealous and that kid only lets the other kids to use only one of the markers and stuff, rather than it's a do not touch item for sure.
i got those kid art kits every christmas from at least 1 person because i was the “artist” of the family 😭
You did an amazing job with junk supplies.Although you regret the background because it wasn't a seamless color I thought it gave a kind of chaotic energy that made an interesting style.🤪
The brush is made of tiny wires that's why they barely work.
And also the set you have in the video is so much better than the one we have in my country, because most of the things were lost or broken. :/
For oil I would layer oil of each other and mix The oil pastel. and if I make striks it mean you applied to much force hope that helps
GIRL THATS THE EXACT ONE I HAVE THE KID ARTS SUPPLIES
Oh I have this right now. My tia/tita bought if for me since she knows I love doing art so much and obsessed with colors😂 I know myself it was bad since it's for kids but I just let my tia give it to me as a gift since I don't want to her to feel sad or unappreciated. By the time I received it, I started swatching the colors and honestly, it's awful than I thought 😂 the "OIL pastel" us literally just crayons! It ain't blending! It's so sandy, and dusty! The water color ain't that vibrant and crayons are messy. The markers were good and so does the color pencil (only a little.) The eraser was brittle and dusty. 😭
This is better than what I can do wth professional art supplies
I would love to see you try to do art with the Crayola palm grasp crayons that are designed for toddlers! They look like eggs
1:33 "much beterrrr💅💅"
Absolutely amazing! 👏💖
Lol no I organize my art supplies like this every time 😂
Fun fact I’ve actually been using the same watercolors from that old set it lasted years bc I didn’t use watercolors back them but I recently got a watercolor brush and watercolors and it’s amazing to have.
As technically still a kid, I’m gonna clear some things up. the pencils are great. But when you try to get more color out they break and they never fing sharpen they just break eerrrrrrr
And the oil pastels are not oil pastels they are chalk soaked in water for exactly 31:26 minutes
I have just learned the markers are activated by water and wanted to tell you if that helps any :)
To use the markers is by putting it in water so it can work
i started my art jurney because of your vids❤😊 i love youre vids its so motivating😊 keep it up❤😊😁
I had those pens when I was little, and they we new ones, I strongly remember opening them, I opened the lid of the purple one, THERE WAS NO INK IN IT, IT WAS LITERALLY EMPTY😭😃
SHE IS BEAUTIFUL FR
I have a idea, maybe if you use only DRIED out art supplies like dried out poscas etc. Hope you consider this idea ❤ love your vids
I don’t think it’s that bad cause my niece got the same kit for her birthday and the pencils work like a charm 😅
I remember that those markers were hella dry! I found out a few weeks ago that we should add water inside 😑
Oh im new and hi Temi i love art and after I noticed that you love art and I am really into art and I even got a coloring set for Christmas and I will be drawing stuff when I watch your vids
1:23 you’re not the only one girl I used to have a set that was just like that as a kid and it was perfectly organized but then a few of my ex Friends came and ruined them. I was literally so mad.😅
me: yay new set! 3 seconds later me: spends 3 minutes for aranging colors
