    Hi. Wow. So much to digest (if you'll pardon the pun).
    (EDIT: This got personal and went longer than intended. At the end I want to provide some Carnivore resources that may be helpful to anyone who has questions. I has recommendations.)
    So I've been doing fasting and keto for a few years, but not as keto as I thought... mostly it was the fasting that helped me.
    I learned about carnivore last year from several sources ALL-AT-ONCE and so started my rabbit-hole experience. I did a deep dive into what carnivore is and how it works and the various and sundry benefits.
    WHAT stands out the most of all? SUCCESS stories. I see dozens of videos of people starting at 300lbs (and more) who had just about given up on health and fitness before learning about carnivore. They started eating a proper human diet and LOST the excess weight. I've seen a handful who started obese, who are today lean, healthy, fit, athletic muscle-bound dudes and dudettes. Funny how often the extreme weight-loss journey leads to people seeking fitness and strength.
    I'm not there, but I understand it.
    I don't like being fat. Once I lose the weight, I want to get fit, then strong and athletic.
    Once I am no-longer obese, I don't ever want to go back to this ever again. (They are my spirit animals. Ha!)
    SO.
    I did a deep dive and found success stories and I found people who help people. I found channels that guide and teach. I found a Community of carnivore and "Lion diet" advocates.
    My most famous example of carnivore experience & influence was Dr. Jordan Peterson (from Canada), who began the carnivore diet after seeing his daughter Mickaylah benefit from extreme (Lion diet) carnivore eating. They both have youtube channels. Mostly politics, except for the exceptions. Yes, they do discuss eating carnivore. Many video clips exist.
    This lead me to videos from a channel I was already subbed to - Dr. Ken D Berry MD who advocated the keto diet for many years, then transitioned to Carnivore. You may have heard of "BBBE"? He came up with that. (Stands for "Beef, Bacon, Butter, & Eggs".) He has many informative videos about how to get started on the Carnivore diet and answering many relevent questions (in an irreverant, fun manner) to quiet your jittery nerves. I was nervous. Turns out, getting started was actually pretty easy.
    After many years carnivore, his wife Neischa (who also has her own channel) has graduated to a "Ketovore" diet which is a very low-carb, primarily-meat-based diet. She looks gorgeous, so it must be working.
    Researching HOW to get started lead me to my next recommend.
    For women who have similar female concerns, look up Steak And Butter Gal. She is VERY candid about how her body responds to carnivore, with specific detailed attention regarding menstruation, flow, inflammation, headaches,... and libido.
    Yes, ladies. She documents how her libido increased after switching to carnivore.
    (Men: You know what you have to do... but do you have the strength?)
    There are many other channels that provide guidance and information. I see Shawn Baker MD to my right. And some other channels that provide recipes and cooking demos. Ketogenic Woman comes to mind. Browned butter bites, anyone?
    Frankly, seeing Jill's video today, dog-piling on top of everything else, is just a little extra icing on the cake.
    I'm glad of it, as it gives me an opportunity to share some of what I've found.
    I'm no expert. I'm no doctor. I'm just a guy who wanted to learn more and did a deep dive. That means when you decide you want to learn more and you're ready for that deep dive, you can start with some of what I've already found... which others had already found before me. They passed it to me; I'm passing it to you... and if this helps you, you'll want to pass it on to someone else after you.
    If you're ready for 'Getting Started' search for Ken D Berry MD and 'BBBE' and start from there.
    Good luck and God bless.

I started carnivore after Thanksgiving. It has given me so much more energy and all my joint pain is gone. Your baby will be born a carnivore, and if you breastfeed, stay one for awhile. :) May you have a great pregnancy and wonderful birth.

    Omg! 🙌 yes! I was vegan, wfpb diet for almost 5 years. My health slowly declined and after a year of being very sick on and off I made the decision to stop being vegan. It wasn’t easy. Slowly adding in things and continuing to take out plants that bothered me… I ended up eating mostly animal products within a year of stopping veganism. I felt the best I felt in years. Animal meat and fats healed me and I only have issues when I fall back into a more plant based diet. I’ve now come to realize that flour is a trigger for inflammation in my body, not sure if it’s a gluten thing or the various other compounds in wheat. Or it’s simply a glucose issue. Sugar is also a problem for me. There’s a lot of things that I’ve found trigger my issues. Basically all the things that were staples in my vegan diet. 😢. So I’m still on my healing path but I know that it’s the meat 🥩 that’s healthy for my body. Sending you all my love.

    as a woman who’s still cycling, and have just dealt with the fatigues of that time of the month and cramping, you’re the person i needed to hear it from, to do an elimination diet like carnivore, and see what that does for me.
    thank you Jill for just loving on us and sharing your journey, and you and Nathan and your kiddos have been such a lovely resource and comfort.

    Eating all that protein provides muscle tissue with the energy it needs to perform. This will essentially boost metabolism which is why you were able to eat more of it over time. How fascinating, Jill, thank you for sharing your experience. I'm a huge foodie and thrive on variety but I keep my protein very high to support my muscle structure. I notice a huge difference when I don't. The body is an amazing creation! 😊

    So glad to hear you are doing so much better. I did the carnivore diet last February for 90 days. I felt amazing, then one day I was tempted with pizza my all time favorite food and I very easily fell back into bad eating habits. I'm trying to get back to carnivore because I want to feel better. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

    Jill, you and Jess inspired me to take control of my health and seek a functional medicine doctor. I'm one year in to being under her care and it has changed my life! I was experiencing sever brain fog, mood swings, random chest pains and many other symptoms that had me feeling like I just wasn't myself. After LOTS of testing I started on so many supplements and vitamins and did one month of strict carnivore. After the first month I started feeling really good. Over the last year I have continued the relaxed carnivore diet by eating low sugar fruits and vegetables, avoiding gluten, grains and dairy (except raw milk.) I also saw a cardiologist about the chest pains and found out that I had inflammation around my heart caused by a certain shot that was mandated at my work place. The holistic doc officially started treating me for what she called a post-vaccine injury. So, after one year I feel like a new person! No more chest pains, no more brain fog, I am sleeping so much better and I've lost over 40 pounds. All of that to say THANK YOU! Vulnerably sharing your story can impact so many people!!

    I’m about to start my carnivore journey and am preparing for it now. I’ve been struggling to find solutions to my various health issues for 2 years now. I made good progress in late 2022 after doing an elimination diet for 3 months and starting supplements for my deficiencies. 2023 I continued a Whole Foods diet but didn’t see any change. My weight stayed the same and my hormonal health continued to struggle. My mental health was at its worse by October and I started a SSRI medication just so I can get through the day. It’s definitely not where I want to be.
    I think carnivore is the right next step to figuring out how to heal my body. Thanks for sharing so much good info. It definitely helps!

    I love that you were smart enough to see someone who could help you manage your symptoms and monitor your labs etc. Just like many people suffer deficiencies after long term plant based diets, carnivore is the same thing just other side of the spectrum, deficiencies can still happen, and probably isn’t great long term. A modified version may be ok longer term.

    Great Video Jill! I transitioned out of a plant based diet about 8 months ago after being vegan for 8 years. The first piece of meat I had was sausage and when I finished it, I wanted to lick my plate! My body IMMEDIATELY LOVED meat. Like you, I had no problem at all when I introduced meat. My body was very happy with me. I've been considering trying 30 days of Carnivore, but I'm in the process of breaking a nasty sugar addiction. I'm doing whole foods only right now. You have me convinced that I should consider carnivore again.

    I know you said something along the lines of “it must be high quality meat” etc etc. so I just wanted to jump in with a caveat of BUT…..if you can’t do all high quality at once or high quality all the time, just do what you can! 😊 If you are removing all the “extra” (carbs, junk, inflammatory foods) and eating the best meat you can, even if not organic and grass-finished, you are still going to be doing your body a world of good. I wish I could eat steak all day every day 😂😂😂😂😂😂 but my wallet isn’t that fat. I feel like my eggs are though, thanks to my chickies! And they are organic so I have small wins to celebrate. On that note-I’m going online to see what this bison farm nearby is selling. Yum. Good luck everyone, and if you’re debating it-just start! Baby steps!

We've lost weight, are no longer tired, no more diabetes, arthritis, pain, etc. We eat a lot of meat, cheese, eggs, cream, butter, and other dairy, but add in a few low carb things here and there. My first pregnancy I was an accidental carnivore. I was vegan for over 5 years. Then I did pescatarian, mostly vegetarian for years after that. With my first pregnancy all I wanted was beef, pork, and fish. I truly believe the only vegetables that I ate was because the Asian lady at my favorite restaurant wouldn't give me my food unless I ate a plate of vegetables first. And since I was definitely in full blown pregnancy brain it never dawned on me that I could just get up and leave.

      Also, the Lord told me to stop having caffeine, a few years ago, I wasnt sure why. Usually I stopped during pregnancy and then a little while after and would start again if baby didnt get any diaper rashes from it. But He asked me to stop and I pouted. But then I realized it was a gift because I was better able to handle "kid speed" I wasnt getting as anxious waiting for them and I wasnt crashing like I used to. So we just do decaf coffee now when we want coffee and its fine.

    And I appreciate every single woman who bravely shares their hormone and health journeys with the world. It does sadden me though to realise just how many of us suffer from similar nightmares ... and that mainstream health care providers seem uninterested or simply incapable of guiding us through these issues, especially when something as simple as a diet change can have such a huge impact. I keep thinking I should try this carnivore diet to see if it helps me at all, but I seem to suffer when I start consuming more meat, especially red meat. Might be a dumb question but is fish allowed? Maybe I could try fish and eggs for a month (sounds thrilling 😂)

    Yes, I would love to see now what you, and your whole family now eat on a regular basis. Do your children and husband now eat this way, if not how has this been to fix different meals for them? I think a lot of people can relate with what you are saying when it comes to the plant based lifestyle. We were promised health and vitality by going that way only to start become depleated over time. I have been that way for probably 10 years now and I need so much supplementation, and even now I just feel like I don't have the energy I'd like, nor the brain clarity. I have had 6 children and the youngest is now close to 7 months, so we are still getting up a little earlier with him than we'd like, so maybe thats part of the brain fog. I just thought that with all the good supplementation we are on that I would feel great, but I seem to keep needing more. :( I cant wait till you come out with that new video on what your doing now; I think it will be equally as encouraging to many people!

    My only quibble with this is that is not true that there are nutrients that you can only get from eating meat. There are plenty of very healthy folks, even bodybuilders and top athletes, who are totally plant based and don't take a bunch of supplements to augment their diets. However, as Jill talks about at the end, is that it was about eating the right whole foods including healthy fats from nuts and seeds and nutrient dense plant foods, not just slugging down smoothies and juices (and lots of coffee.) The only nutrient that is definitely missing from a balanced, totally plant-based diet is Vitamin B12. The rest are all there if you are eating enough calories from a wide variety of plants. However, it is really hard sometimes to reset, which I understand because in order to lose a lot of weight years ago, I did low carb/carnivore for a year. Ketosis really kills your appetite and kind of gives you a high that was what I needed at that time. Jill was stressed out, addicted to caffeine and using intense exercise as well to deal with that stress and eating an unbalanced, relatively high sugar, vegan diet, so it does not surprise me that things were totally whacked out. Intensively eating nutrient dense foods, animal or plant based, can really turn things around. My worry is for folks who permanently eliminate most fruits and vegetables from their diets. True carnivore diets are very low in the fiber and other nutrients that most research shows is so important to a healthy microbiome. I also see some long-term carnivores who take massive amounts of supplements which seems to indicate that their diet is still very deficient. Everyone's body is different, but it just seems that time and again, the research shows that those who eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, either exclusively or in addition to animal products, are the longest-lived with the least amount of health problems. So am glad to see that the strict carnivore diet in this case was a transitional stage to a more balanced way of eating. It does take education, time and effort to devise a healthy whole foods, plant-based diet, it's not just about eliminating animal products. There are plenty of unhealthy vegans out there. It is wonderful that Jill has turned things around and the pregnancy is just such a special reward for her hard work and Nathan's support for her journey. Am very happy for her and her family. It is such a blessing. Sorry this was so long.

    • @angelaraum1545
      @angelaraum1545 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes for some it's essential for T2D or autoimmune dx. All the Dr's I've watched don't recommend much supplements if any. Have you watched Dr Ken Barry? The govt food requirement is not good. Too much fruits/veggies/starches. They think oatmeal/ rice is healthy. Its not.

    • @sharonknorr1106
      @sharonknorr1106 7 месяцев назад +2

      I don't think any whole foods are necessarily "unhealthy" for everyone - it is always a red flag for me when someone says a food that millions of healthy, long-lived folks eat is never good for you. There are plenty of very healthy folks who eat a lot of oatmeal and/or rice. What I saw from listening to Jill is that she wasn't eating enough protein or fat plus some other nutrients and certainly going carnivore/hi fat for a while will help with that in a hurry which is one reason why she felt so much better in a relatively short time. You can also get more balanced with a plant-based diet, but you need to really do your homework and look at calories and macros for at least a while until your body gets what it needs. For some folks, that might involve extra protein in the form of more processed, but not sugar-filled, plant-based proteins such as protein powders and things like TVP/seitan/tofu. It is very individual and Jill is working towards finding her sweet spot, especially important now that she is pregnant.

      The issue with plant eating is oxalate overload. Read the book Toxic Superfoods.

    • @sharonknorr1106
      @sharonknorr1106 7 месяцев назад +1

      Some people can be adversely affected by dietary oxalates, for instance, those very prone to kidney stones. However, most of us handle oxalate just fine. Oxalates are water soluble, so if you are worried about them in your spinach or beet greens, then boil them in water for a while and discard the water or just don't eat those very high oxalate veggies. There are many vegetables that contain very little oxalate and are extremely healthy for most people. Even those with high oxalates contain many other nutrients that are very beneficial, so saying that vegetables are toxic is kind of over the top. It's just like the whole "lectins are poisonous" thing - lectins are destroyed during the cooking process, so unless you are eating raw kidney beans, not an issue. All foods have the potential to react with some people in a negative manner. But we still have to eat, don't we.

    • @unnamed2737
      @unnamed2737 7 месяцев назад

      There are most definitely nutrients found only in animal products, and not just b12. And carnivores who supplement do so because they don’t eat the organ meat. If you eat the organ meat there is nothing to supplement. I agree a healthy whole food diet is best for an already healthy human, but most of the population is not healthy. Once you factor in disease, especially chronic and autoimmune, there is no one size fits all. There may be “healthy” grains out there but I can’t eat them. People may sing the praises of raw dairy but I can’t tolerate any dairy. Kale was known as a superfood for years but it destroyed my thyroid. There are many plant foods that are safe for some people but poison to me. I can tolerate meat and eggs just fine but not dairy. I don’t do smoothies but live for bone broth. I could never go strait carnivore (as a gardener it would break my heart), but I’m aware of it’s benefits to a person with my particular health issues. Diet is far more complex than “just eat a variety of whole foods from all food groups”

    Our food has gotten so far from actual real healthy nutrition from gmoing our grains increasing gluten in our highly processed, bleached wheat. Gluten causes hormone issues. To hybrid fruits and vegetables which also mess with the natural order of things and are also hormone disruptors with hormones as a process to make them hybrid.
