Wow, what a fine example of what people can be., As much as I love this man's music, Ive discovered how genuine he seems to be, just a remarkable human....
For all his genius and comedic antics, Mr. Wakeman is obviously a very genuine and decent fellow. The fact that he is a Christian is no surprise. May God bless and keep him and use him in mighty ways.
Brian ~ AMEN! l'm _thrilled_ that Ricks a Christian! l am too, and been listening to him for 40 years! lt will be a pleasure to meet him in Heaven when ALL things are perfect!
Never a Yes fan but I could listen to Rick Wakeman all day. A natural story teller and from other videos I have seen could have been a decent stand up comedian!
Agree completely about stand-up comedian; a good example is Rick's acceptance speech at the induction of Yes into the R'N'R Hall of Fame...true understated British humor.
What a humble gentleman....reminds me of the late & great Jon Lord - good-God man been listing to him since the Six Wives album, only saw him once @ Winterland 1976? on Halloween night the opening act was Renaissance
Indeed. Despite, the fact that Steve Howe will always be my guitar guru, Rick was the only one that wouldn't go on when Jon got ill. I can relate to that, as I was playing in a band back in 2000 and got cancer. Everyone except the drummer was willing to wait for my recovery, which is something that will always stick with me. I saw Rick maybe a decade ago in Buffalo when he was doing a solo tour. It was a great show; beyond the music, he is obviously one funny guy. He's a complete class act.
I love you Mr. Wakeman so please watch that weight we want you around for a long time. Hey did anybody ever tell you you're a funny guy, all my best Rick 😆😃😃😃😃
at 16 minutes into the vid , he said , I couldn't see a yes band without Jon singing . the truest statement ever !!! nothing against the other guys , its just not Yes without Jon Anderson
Yes are the ultimate Futurist Prog Rock Group, in my opinion. They are an Institution attracting the best Musicians in the World. I love The Ice Bridge and To The Moment, inspiring works from From a Page to take us all into hopefully a better future.
I never knew much about Rick as a teenager, or even later. I play keys and started 'performing' at 16 y.o. in 1972. I kind of dismissed Rick as being a bit showy and rocky. Everybody has a story and I used to work in a pub serving tables where bands played. What a musical education. I got my chance when the keyboard [organ player] got sick and I was pulled from the floor to backing huge cabaret stars, with someone else's organ. At 62, I'm still backing the 'stars' [lol], I only recently discovered Rick when he appeared on "The Genius of Mrs Mills", a BBC documentary, and then again with another BBC series "Grumpy Old Men". I am in awe of this man's talent which is highlighted by his down to earth manner. I'd give anything for a beer with Rick. Way to go Rick. We're all Grumpy Old Men now! I never had my own Vox Continental, though I've played them. For me, Farfisa was all the rage, until I discovered Roland.
Thank God for Rick's personality. After being devastated by Greg, Keith and Chris....I will be destroyed if we loose Rick. Actually, losing these guys is like losing my older brothers. Think about that. Such an empty feeling.
@@matthewblack7206 I play music with a group of amateur musicians. Whenever we finish playing "Lucky Man," I always add: RIP Greg Lake & Keith Emerson. I even try to sing Keith's Moog coda, not too well I might add.
Fantastic Gent and fellow Mason, a Man I'd love to meet. Unfortunately only ever saw Rick once in (I think 1976) at Preston Guild Hall. Had some of Ricks Records Great Great Bloke.
Actually, Rick looks pretty good, lost a few pounds. And, coincidently, Blasting Wakeman with Wakeman while organizing my barns last night. Very cool work by Ricky and Adam.
Rick bought a Minimoog synthesizer at half price from actor Jack Wild, who thought that it was defective because it only played one note at a time. lol I can just imagine Rick taking a sharp intake of breath and saying " It looks broke but I will do YOU a favour etc" :) He was the first musician to suss out the Mellotron and those great Producers like Tony Visconti and Gus Dudgeon asked him how he got it to work but he kept quiet as they then HAD to employ him if they wanted that sound. I have learned that it was RICK who played those fabulous notes on Space Oddity....
It's appalling that Squire, Howe and White decided not to wait for Jon to get better and go out on tour without him.... gotta pay the bills you know! Since that happened Wakeman had scarcely a word with those members and threw in digs at them whenever he got the chance although he did pay tribute to Alan White when he passed away.... deservedly so. Now the touring version of Yes is a moon cast shadow compared to the classic 5. Jon Anderson's voice is so unique that any version of Yes without him is not Yes.
Funny ......The only 'famous' musician person l REALLY DO pray for is The Wakemans! l don't know why, but as soon as l learned about Nina Carter, and Rick going hard for The Lord, l was THRILLED! Rick has always been, a magnetic, charismatic, talented, funny, and compassionate dude! His music has _FILLED_ us with Joy! God gave him a talent .....and the fruit he produced was good! ''Ye shall know them by their fruits''. Cant wait to meet you in Heaven Rick!
Surprised he said "this lineup far & away is the best YES lineup he's ever been in". Really, Rick? Even better than the "classic" lineup of Anderson, Bruford (or White), Wakeman, Howe, and Squire in their prime? Having been to many YES jaw dropping concerts with the classic lineup and having attended 90125 concerts, and close attention to the various stages of YES over the years, and mostly seeing the rust (on Trevor Rabin in particular) of ARW, with all due respect this claim regarding ARW being the "best YES lineup" seems a stretch. I'm glad he'e having fun though.
The bottom line is: You can´t sing about humanity and ethics and ignore very serious health problems on the other and say: show must go on. Music is much more than business and that´s why I appreciate Rick´s point of view. And by the way: ARW are a much better band than Howe´s and Squire´s so called Yes. No doubt about that.
Rick Wakeman is not only a keyboard wizard but also a very gifted storyteller with a great hearth,
Wow, what a fine example of what people can be., As much as I love this man's music, Ive discovered how genuine he seems to be, just a remarkable human....
Rick Wakeman is a superior life form... There is no better way of describing him and his amazing ability and intelect.
Pretty sure God did for 50 years now
I love Rick. Brilliant musician and a humble person.
😊Good interview by experienced journalist , Dan, and his mate, Rick.
Never a Yes fan but I could listen to Rick Wakeman all day. A natural story teller and from other videos I have seen could have been a decent stand up comedian!

Never too late to reintroduce yourself to the genius that was YES, dig into their deep tracks
Yes Rick Wakeman is Equally a Great person as he is Great musician and yes Thank you God for Rick Wakeman
There are a lot of creeps in rock music, Rick Wakeman is not one of them. A great talent with a great sense of humor.
What a humble gentleman....reminds me of the late & great Jon Lord - good-God man been listing to him since the Six Wives album, only saw him once @ Winterland 1976? on Halloween night the opening act was Renaissance
Rick is a shining example to us all. And what a nice guy Dan seems to be..
I got a chance to meet Rick, and this is was exactly what he was like, funny and down to earth, let alone the best prog rock keyboardist in my opinion.
Rick Wakeman, a living legend.
So intelligent, a great raconteur, very humorous and a modern keyboard genius. Wishing you a long and happy life, Rick.
Love Rick. Such an awesome musician and person.
I admire both Rick’s huge contribution to Yes (God’s Paradisal musicians) and his brilliant solo career with Orchestras.
Rick is so down to Earth, exactly what I like, and the interview was brilliant. Long live Rick Wakeman !!!
Rick Wakeman - what a lovely man.

Yeah, he has such a kind face and seems so genuine. And funny!
Totally agree!
Great interview, thanks! Loved the ARW tour, and the Living Tree album.
Rick Wakeman is a Genius who Loves Christ....... Please Father, more!
Wonderful man - Rick. Met him just once. What a nice guy.
the BEST keyboard Player ALIVE
I love you Mr. Wakeman so please watch that weight we want you around for a long time. Hey did anybody ever tell you you're a funny guy,
all my best Rick 😆😃😃😃😃
I love this guy... humble to say the least....
What a prodigy. Doesn't even look at the keyboards.
at 16 minutes into the vid , he said , I couldn't see a yes band without Jon singing . the truest statement ever !!!

Thank you both for such a lovely visit. Deep admiration. Respect.
Mr Wakeman is one of the most modest down to earth people,at one time he has not in a good way until he became Christian
If I had been Rick I would have asked that guy why he had to put the recorder so close to his face!

Yeah, want a thumbs up? Have anything with this guy. What a gem.
Thank God for Rick's personality. After being devastated by Greg, Keith and Chris....I will be destroyed if we loose Rick. Actually, losing these guys is like losing my older brothers. Think about that. Such an empty feeling.
it sure is mate when the music's over turn out the light
You are correct. I wept when Greg Lake and Keith Emerson died. It's like losing a close family member.
Yes Rick Wakeman is equally a Great Person as he is a Great Musicsn
I remember the morning I found out about Keith. I burst into tears - probably for the first time ever, just spontaneously started crying.
@@matthewblack7206 I play music with a group of amateur musicians. Whenever we finish playing "Lucky Man," I always add: RIP Greg Lake & Keith Emerson. I even try to sing Keith's Moog coda, not too well I might add.
Rick Wakeman should write a book ! He has so many interesting stories.
God Bless you Rick Wakeman
The Great Rick Wakeman. There's no one like Him. This World is a much better place with him in it. Thank You Rick
Fantastic Gent and fellow Mason, a Man I'd love to meet. Unfortunately only ever saw Rick once in (I think 1976) at Preston Guild Hall. Had some of Ricks Records Great Great Bloke.
Wizard on the keys
Great interview!
The great and GREATER personalities of musicians.
Actually, Rick looks pretty good, lost a few pounds. And, coincidently, Blasting Wakeman with Wakeman while organizing my barns last night. Very cool work by Ricky and Adam.
rick is a top bloke talanted funny witty
Genuine all round good guy. On my " would love to meet list"
Great interview. Don't know why it bothers me so much that the interviewer's hand is in his face the whole time. Lapel mic dude.
Rick Wakeman is a National treasure!

Rick a gent and a star I remember your shop in peel now a estate agents cheers

The most down to Earth musician ever.
😬 great interview
Now we’ve lost Keith Emerson and Jon Lord, Rick seems to be our main man (with Tony Banks, Nick Rhodes and others I can’t recollect at the moment).
Trevor Rabin drummer in the band lol
I think Rick enjoyed this interview, very personal
21:00 what a load of BS. Classic Fragile/Close to the Edge lineup will ALWAYS be greater than ARW.
👏👏👏👏👏
@1:11...Trevor Rabin, drummer ???
careful Dan, I wouldn't put my hands that close to Rick's mouth
What’s with the Sony Walkman 4 inches from his face
Tim Lafreniere I think it is a digital recorder, with a condenser mic(mini)4 journalist needs.
No Technicians Just Carers....

I totally agree, Howe , Squire, Wakeman, Anderson and White or Buford. That's the real Yes
Oh T. Rabin doesn't have close to the mind ,or the all around ability of Steve Howe a true master
"Tevor Rabin, the drummer in the band im in..." WTF?!
IKR? I cannot believe he just said that!!! SMH!!!
Old folks do that all the time. No big deal.
At first I thought it was one of Ricks cryptic jokes 🤣🤣🤣
