Whatever you do do not put a piece of paper in there because small pieces of it will get stuck more and make the problem worse. That's what happened to me. If you have to take it to Samsung to clean it up then do so but I am pretty pissed now because a small problem is turned into a big problem
I had this issue. I'm in the states. I put in a warranty claim and took it to an authorized repair place. They repaired it in about 2 hours. Doing all the DIY was frustrating. Getting it repaired under warranty for so much easier. They said it's a common issue with the hinge.
It's the worst design flaw and Samsung should be held accountable - I have the same issue but worse on the z fold 3... Samsung said it's not a manufacturing issue. Never buy these foldable phones from Samsung
I'm only gonna go for fold 6 I'm pretty sure the fold 5 is going to still have hinge issues and hopefully the cover display of fold 6 is gonna be wider...
My fold 4 dosnt open all the way. It opens most of the way but not all. I never drop it not once... I was wondering if i soak ot in water for a lil while then open/close woukd that work?
Don't soap in water... just pour isopropyl alcohol into the hinge then flex it open and close till it opens all the way... mind you, some particles will come out of the hinge

Cause of the issue is very simple and unfortunately not repairable as far as I know. Inside the hinge assembly there are two brushes glued using strip of the glue you managed to pulled out to two halves of the phone. Those brushes suppose to protect internals from debris. Those brushes go loose and are mangled inside the hinge stopping it from fully opening. When you open the phone just about you should see a brush… if you don’t then it’s gone inside or part of it is gone. As far as I can figure out this glue is prone to loose with heat, solvents and probably simply time.
This is so true....I just realised the brushes on mine today and its like there is a black thread inside too... don't know if I should take it out completely for the phone to open widely like it used to
@@gphil9497 i removed the stand cause I would love to use my wireless charger through the case and I sanded the back close it up by wrapping the case with a skin
Use isopropyl alcohol and don't use paper... pour the alcohol into the hinge flex it open and close till all those stuffs come out then pull them out repeat the process again to remove residue and your phone would be good...

I used the paper from a cigar band.. Worked perfectly. Pulled out a chunk of plastic and now it folds flat. I was skeptical, not anymore.
For some people, it will work and might not work for others... It is advisable not to open the phone when it gets stuck so it won't wear out the hinge

You're right mine got okay but sometimes, it opens flat and sometimes, 179•
Mine too I tried the paper and it made it worse. I've got an appointment with Samsung in 6 days

I finally took mine to the authorised repair place when my screen failed
I was told by Samsung to take to Ubreakifix. They told me would cost $600. Not covered by warranty, hinge issues

Agree...never buy Samsung fold phones....
I just cleaned my fold 4 on the hinge part with water and a small paper it's complete flat again ! And no damage.. it works complete like new again.

I got it to open to that 180 but it won't stay at 180 for long...I hope it fix with time I'm now thinking if it's harmattan

maybe your casing is not using the original, so it can't be opened perfectly. hit behind the body casing left and right
