i got a new transfercase and bushing on my x3 in febuary I have a one year warrenty I paid close to $4000 two days after I started having the same problem I'v taking my x3 back to the shop 7 times replacing the transfercase I saw your video this morning removed fuse 26 problem solved thank you
@@lsantosbmw they told me the berrings in the transfercase was bad, then the second transfercase they put on the gear was striped,so the kept replacing it with used ones then I saw your video and basicly fixed the problem myself I could have done something else with my money but you live and learn thank you for the video
@edgaraguero1824 crap. Sorry. Just saw this now. The quick answer is no. The awd is basically disengaged already in the transfer case until the actuator engages when it senses acceleration or wheel slip. That's why that little plastic gear wears out. I'm eventually going to fix the actuator and have xdrive back on, I just love having the rwd at the moment. It's the same chassis as the e46, so it's basically a lifted 99-05 3 series. And mine is manual so I'm enjoying sliding it, doing burnouts and just having fun
@edgaraguero1824 and it's sooooo simple. Just be careful, no stability or traction control, so your abs, 4x4, and traction lights will probably turn on. It will feel much faster also
@@lsantosbmw yeah I noticed that, and it has been running well. I just need to change the fluid and servomotor, the weather just isn’t helping much right now.
@johnherbert5919 yes actually, when I'm not driving it hard. I noticed I've been driving it a little too enthusiastically here and there. Love to down shift and floor it, try to do burn outs and power slides when I'm on dirt or pavement, it's just so freaking fun. But even though I don't have exact mph numbers off the top of my head, I know when I go on longer highway trips (4-6 hours round trip) that o have to fill up a lot less.
@johnherbert5919 went driving today just messing around. I thought of your question to I put cruise control on at 40mph in 6th gear. Checked the computer 3 times and it came out to be 38.5mpg via the on board trip computer.
@johnherbert5919 I edited it, I meant I went driving today, not drinking lol. Just make sure you know you stability control will turn off which will also show your ABS and traction control lights
I need to test that, i have a big issue with my X3 2007. When i brake or loose speed, decelerate, i have a big noise like metalic from behind to the middle the car. The sensation is like beg a hammer on a metalic surface. Do you have ever faced that kind of problem ? Thanks for helping me !
No, my clunking while driving I suspected was the center support bearing. My 92 525i and 92 325i felt the same way and needed a new flex disc (guibo). But the X3's driveshaft was practically new. The shaking, movement, and clunk noise were coming from the front transfer case
@@lsantosbmw thank’s mate for the answer. I need to look after that problem. The clunking is really loud. Maybe flector or axle shaft i think or transfer case completely.
I just got an 08 x3 for 1500. He wanted 2600. I looked under it and saw the transfer case. When i drove it, I felt the clunk under my ass. GoogledI just got an x3 for 1500. He wanted 2600. In looked under it and saw the transfer and felt the clunk under my ass. I googled it and it came up the chain. Im going to try this. If thia fixes it, then its fixed. I dont need 4x4.
@pointedspider if it's not the transfer case it could be the flex disc as I originally expected on mine, or the driveshaft. The fuse just deactivates the the transfer case from engaging
This has completely fixed my car, you deserve a medal!!! thanks so much
