    Drilling speed was definately too fast. I learned that it’s always best to use more pressure and low speed (same as bench drill works). There are videos on that on youtube. Drilling the proper way will let your drill bit stay sharp for ages.
    Another tip, especially for drilling bigger holes, but not only, is to drill a pilot hole with a small bit, like 3 or 4mm and then using a stepped drill bit to open it to required size. Stepped bit can then be used to clean the edge of the hole from the other side as well.

    What drill bits did you use? Like not the sizes the type/brand of bit

    Seeing you had the offcut of trunking next to you on the bench , would have been easier to lay one piece on top of the other for factory spaces holes .
