Some of the best Speckled Trout fishing I ever had, Was in Freeport Texas, Surf fishing, Using a Heddon Lucky 13 top water lure. Caught a nice fish on almost every cast.
There's just something special about the way trout thump a big bait. Whether it's a rat-l-trap, mirrolure, corky, or a top, it's just a different experience than a paddle tail or something along those lines.
Hey Devin, the water at the rocks where the catch was good was just gorgeous!!! Tommy V says, if you’re in cloudy/dirty water just move east or west and USUALLY you can find some pretty clean water and he has been describing it from CLEAR to Trout green when he finds it!!! Always pay attention to what’s around you!!
Simply the best channel for inshore fishing. Another well rounded video. Remind of the way Hackney used to work through his progressions to find better fish
Pogey boats pillaging the sea… today in the Biloxi Marsh I was fishing birds diving on shrimp down current of a fleet of oyster boats. The water started to get dirty, but even worse was the steady stream of Red Bull cans and plastic water bottles. Tried to pick up what I could, but I’m sure there was plenty more where that came from. Would it kill these Jackwagons to not throw their litter overboard?
My new favorite video , a youtuber from Grand Isle catches a lot of trout and predominantly uses live pogey. I always thought a silver or chrome Rat-L-Trap would work just haven't been able to get there to try, now I say theory proved. Thanks for all the hard work love watching when I can't go fishing. Tight Lines
Lol Devin you look like you went a couple rounds with mike tyson at that first spot intro 👊🏻 i like your description of the boat ride, been there! How do those specks keep coming off a rattle trap?
Devin, both male and female Specs "croak", it's really true. And, a good call switching to that noisy chrome Rattle-Trap; that high-pitched rattling noise is like a dinner bell to the Specs. Tight Lines, dude !!!
Devin, dolphins don't scare the fish away? I thought that could be the case so I'll end up moving to another location. Good to see that's not that case. Great video
You made the comment that you wished you had fished that spot earlier that morning cuz you could have crushed them. Maybe, but my experience in that spot is the water needs to be coming in and it looks like it was coming in when you found them because of that beautiful green water. You likely hit it at the right time!
Whatsup Captain Devin! Just a little persistence here, hope is pays off. Glad to see you getting out and about again, although i keep missing our trips. It's a damn shame something always goes wrong whenever you and i are supposed to get together and whack the crap out of the trout. Either way, great job, thank you for everything, and I'll see you soon? :P
@@LAFishBlog I have a bait similar to you. 20’ alum boat with 150 pro xs. 24 gallon tank I believe i can run probably 50 miles roughly and burn 1/4-3/8 of a tank. Just was trying to see if that was normal. I’ve asked around on fb but you get all different responses. Look me up on fb under my name. Check out some of my fish pics
Awesome vid man. I was just looking at new gopros today and its so hard to spend that money on a new one when all they do is lock up and overheat. So frustrating.
Mine don't. The trick is to use battery eliminators and/or use something to actually shade them. A piece of paper or cloth works in a pinch. I use flat ABS plastic that's mounted above the GoPro, but the only time it's needed is on days it's flat calm and sunny. Otherwise the main source of heat is the battery trying to charge and decharge at the same time. Just pull the battery out of the GoPro and hook it up to a USB cord that's wired to the boat's house battery.
It's also worth noting that GoPro does an exchange program, where they give you $100 off a new model when you send in a comparable action cam, even if its not a GoPro. I used that to keep costs down. However, with that said, the Hero 9 has been worth every penny. It's image stabilization is incredible, the color is good out of the box and being able to shoot in 5k is everything. Combine that with a good power solution (boat's house battery) and a 400GB SD card and you've got a media machine.
@@LAFishBlog thats a good idea about the battery. I'll try it. All I know is my hero 5 never overheats. I hit record and it stays on till I hit stop. The hero 6 won't last an hour using the same resolution and frame rate.
@@twinfish2061 Well, I respectfully disagree with you. I have not seen any evidence to suggest a small mesh rubber net makes such a giant difference in fish mortality rates. Chris Bush did a podcast with some Texas biologists that's a great listen to anyone wanting to learn more about catch and release, conservation, etc. that sheds a lot of light on what causes fish mortality. I understand it *could* make a difference, but so would avoiding boat flips and a bunch of other stuff. In fact, quitting fishing altogether would probably make a difference, too. I'm sure my fish brothers and sisters would appreciate not getting a hook in the face. But, I'm not quitting fishing. And I'm not getting a different net. I identify as a sociopathic fish. Thanks.
Can't please everyone. I'd love to know what was so awful about the video that they'd give it a thumbs down so I can make my content better. Honestly, there really aren't too many other creators in this niche that put as much effort into their video as I do, so I have no idea what their problem is. lol F 'em.

Try replacing the back hook with a willow blade. I've caught lots with doing this. Makes more flash.
Glad watching you..Dev can you check out myrtle Grove area?

Can you prove your statement? Surely you have a white paper or something you can link up.
Great video. Put bigger hooks on those rattle traps. I've lost numerous hybrid/white bass in the Mississippi river for the same reason.
Awesome bro love it
Great video. I need to come up to Louisiana and fish.
You should!
Devin great vid what is your favorite rod power/action to fish a rattle trap on? Thanks
Looks like Pass Fourchon where you found the trout.
My favorite speckled trout bait is chrome blue rattle trap
Enjoyed your video and how you show how and what water to fish. I use that same brand of cooler that you have in your boat.
Very cool(er)!
I need to try some rattle traps for trout. Been using them for red fish. Need to try when I’m out deep.
Brother nice show
I just bought some traps earlier this year to try. Can’t wait until it cools off some more here in the Carolinas.
Good luck!
I hear you. Rather catch some good breath taking trout that many short slot ones.
Devin, dolphins don't scare the fish away? I thought that could be the case so I'll end up moving to another location. Good to see that's not that case. Great video
Does the bigger one work better? I catch dinks on big baits often , just curious
What kick scent bait are you using capt devin?
I like to use Gulp and for a spray anything anise.
Devin, I catch a lot of trout in Mississippi on plastics exclusively (or topwater). How do you think these Traps would work in our water?
Maybe, I dunno.
Why not tie one on and try it out? The worst that can happen is you don't get bit. :)
Thanks for watching, Dana.

Where did you launch from? My friend with a camp at Grand Isle says it’s all destroyed by Ida.
He filmed this prior. He didn't post it out of respect for what happened.
Was this pre storm video?
Persistence
Been trout fishing many years never had to get in a big hurry to land a fish need to slow down and enjoy the fish fight. Ha

About how many miles per gallon do you get in your boat?
I'm not sure, maybe 4 or 5. Depends on a lot of factors, I guess.

Those dolphins were probably eating right there.
How do you tell the difference from a male and female trout?
They drum. They have muscles that develop that make their swim bladder vibrate to attract females when spawning.
nailed it

Sorry u don't care for Poggy boats but they provide income for over 500 families on the Gulf and East coasts...get over it!
And take away income from thousands more. Menhaden fishing is hot garbage. 👎🏻
