Hi Piet. Greetings from a very cold Montreal. it was (-13c) yesterday and (-11c) today. I should not complain about it being very cold here, ever again after (-43 F wind chill down there) We narrowly escaped a blizzard Monday night. it only snowed 5 to 10cm instead. Ya know what they say right ?? A Day without POOP is like a Day without SUNSHINE !! Hopefully that pile will be good to scatter on the fields. Moo Cow Inner Dialogue ..."OOOH this new straw is MOOVULOUS !!!" Looks like the ladies are enjoying themselves. Stay Warm out there !!!
Gee Piet I wish you had a compost turner it would turn that old straw into black magic in three weeks ( another job I know). Who are the red heifers by ? Cheers 🇦🇺
Mr Piet-Evening from Northeast Mississippi-I am a disabled dairy farmer-I stopped milking 12-6-2006-You have some very nice heifers of all ages-Can you tell me roughy how many head are in your one big heifer barn? Being from Northeast Mississippi I can’t even imagine that-23de & -47de wind chill It looks like your heifer barn is fairly warm-Y’all stay warm and safe-thanks
Watching that Bobcat loader spreading straw and riding through the straw makes me wonder about fire danger. Do you preform fire drills with your staff? Also, does your farm have a disaster recovery plan, i.e. where to milk if the parlor gets (major) disabled?
The dust is probably of bigger concern, as it can get inside the machine more easily. There are fire extinguishers throughout the farm and in some of the equipment. Yes, we have a disaster plan in place for type of scenario.
@alfredomarotta6604 maybe he should hire locals instead of shipping in foreign people who then send the money back home, which his community loses out on the economic boost... Just a thought
Good morning all Thanks for the video have a blessed day
Your heifer facilities and attention to detail is first class.
Absolute credit to the industry.

Thanks Piet, always a great watch.
Pretty cool watching all those calves jumping around on the new straw pack.
It is amazing how much heat those straw packs generate. Nice video!

Around 1000 heifers and 100 dry cows. It's definitely nicer inside than outside!

That's too cold for this Texan
How many heifers are in that barn?
Around 1000 heifers and 100 dry cows.
How many locals do you hire compared to foreign help?
What is your definition of local?
@@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 Americans
With the new administration in office has that affected your employees any?
It shouldn't, they're not criminals or here illegally.

I'm not expecting it to have an impact. Time will tell what the impact is on the labor pool in the country.
