Too kind man! Thank you. Got your origin video in my list for a watch when I’ve got your origin video in my list to check out when I’ve got a sec. Interested to see how it compares to the 20.
You had me sold on the rebel 90 at 07:23. I've just ordered one for my Les Paul. What a tone! Been looking for chimey neck pickup to replace a muddy SD 59 in the neck and I think this will fit the bill. I have the generator in a singlecut Jackson and it's also a great pickup. Reminds me of tweaked SD JB, akin to a Suhr Aldridge or a Dimarzio AT-1. I also did the same capacitor tapered spin o split mod too. Great demo and cool guitar.
My most useful mod is turning one of the knobs into a 'bass cut'. On tele pup selectors you can wire it so that only comes into play in the neck position. Makes dialing the 'wooliness' easier. Also useful for on-the-fly adjustments with the low end as your bassist changes his tone and suddenly you feel you need a brighter tone to still have clarity.
Hey Dan, you aaalways do the same!!! Nice tones, nice riffs, high-class perform, come on!!!! Nice vid again, thanks for sharing your setup and keep on rockin'!! 💪🎸
I love taking budget guitars and modifying them. The Tribute is not cheap but is compared to other LP models. You’ve made that guitar so versatile, I have to see if you’ve posted a follow up on this yet. Awesome playing too!! 😮
Great sounds! Very intetested to see/hear the PAF set that Tonerider have coming out. Are you able to share any more details? Anyway, fantastic playing as ever. I think the Rebel 90/Birmingham combination sounds excellent. It balances very well to my ears. I think I'll be installing a bass rolll-off on one of my guitars. Great idea!
@@DanLeggatt no worries, totally understand. Feel free to remove my comment. Don't want to drop you in it. BTW, I've said it before but your intonation is excellent. It is harder than people realise to get it spot on. So many people demo stuff but are clearly out of tune (Rob Chapman is often guilty of this) but you are always really in tune!
It’s all good man! It’s got me saying it in the video forever now 😂 plus I’ve checked and they are cool with it. I might even be able to do a little preview video with some prototypes soon 👍 Thanks mate! I think I said before that it’s something I’ve worked hard on so very glad it comes across well to others👌
Love those passing comments.. for sure more "nerdy" gear vids!!! Yea that P-90 neck with the bridge and those mods cover alot of ground. My chambered 07 Std tones are definitely unique, certainly more of an open, airy tone. Going to give that treble bleed a go on my soapbars :)
Excellent as always. I might try the bass cut on my Rebel 90, that was the mod I didn’t know about on that beastie. Looking forward to getting my hands on those PAFs too, we shall compare notes 😊
Fantastic demo of Tonerider pu's, as I am just wondering if it is worth buying the Rebel (looks like it is), I did mod my Pacifica with the Vintage II HB in bridge and a T style Hot Classics in the neck position (sort of a hybrid), so the Rebel P90 would go in the middle to round up the sound scape. Would you recommend a bridge or a neck P90 for the middle position? I am really interested in the treble bleed circuit cap and resistor values and also what value cap did you use to high pass the Rebel P90? Thanks a bunch and rock on.
I would go for a neck version for middle. I can’t remember the value off hand I’m afraid but check out my 10 guitar mods video. It might have the info in there 👍
Hi Dan. Few weeks ago I got a set of Birmingham Tonerider Alnico 5... The bridge pickup is awesome but i found the neck pickup sounds too wooly like you said.... I did like you...I swapped the neck for a Rebel neck P90 and it's sounds way better... By the way, you mentioned you tried several sets of pickups.... Have you ever experienced the Gibson Classic 57 pickups set.? If yes...Did you like them or still prefer the Birmingham ? Thanks so much for your opinion. 👍⭐
Hi Dan. Super demo.⭐ It's about the neck pickup... Could you please tell me wich P90 rebel you put at the neck position. Is it the bridge one 9.3 ohms or the neck one 8.4 ohms. Thanks so much in advance.
Hi Dan ! I got a pair of Birmingham Alnico 5. The bridge pickup is awesome but the neck pickup fell short my expectations...Sounds mushy and lack of sustain...I tried to adjust the height but in vain. Tell me Dan, is it for that reason you use a Rebel 90 as a neck pickup ? It seems to sound way better than the neck alnico 5 humbucker. And i see the rebel 90 have even more output than the humbuckers... Could you tell me if the Rebel 90 are noisy when high gain ? Thanks in advance Dan.
Hi Richard, To be honest, I rarely use a neck humbucker. If I have a humbucker in the neck position, it’s almost always split or wired in parallel. The Rebel 90 has a nice compromise between a bucker and a single coil. It has as much noise as any other single coil or p90 pickups with gain.
Thanks so much Dan for your quick reply ! ⭐ Me too i mainly use the bridge position at 99 % ... I was just wondering why you put a P90 in the neck position. But anyway I'm gonna order a neck rebel P90 to hear how it sounds like...Because in your demo it seems to sound pretty descent. By the way love your channel and your amazing playing. Thanks again.👍
Hi Dan, great 👍 playing as always. I have the same illness as you and have been thinking of putting a rebel 90 in the neck of one of my guitars (since your comparison video) Two questions which I can follow up on Instagram. The bass cut circuit, I need to know how? And where do you get 500k push push? I’ve been trying to get good quality ones like CTS for ages and can’t find them. Great video speak soon. Cheers.
I have the Birmingham pickups in my Tele and the neck is a little dark. It has coil split for both pickups. I think that I am going to put the rebel90 in the neck because I love the sound of the two together. My question is can I use the 500k pot for the rebel90.
A big thanks Dan ! 👍 These pickups are a perfect match and they sound amazingly great for the price. There are signatures pickups that can't hold a candle to these Toneriders. Thanks again.👍
I like the LC30 a lot. No idea why other peoples don’t sound good. Mine has a Celestion Creamback speaker. Origin and the LC30 are extremely different amps, like the both.
Very nice! And love the mods you’ve done to her. An extremely versatile guitar. I’ve had an L6S since 1978. Same colour. I put a set of Dirty Fingers in her (excuse me) and she sings. The original pickups (still have them somewhere) were True Blues, but very low output. If you haven’t heard of them, I have the same as this one ruclips.net/video/tZKhJHLYl5s/видео.html
Thanks for this video! I've got the same LP 1996 that I now will likely modify to open up some options. Do you happen to have the treble bleed specifics on what you used? You can view my LP in my case comparison video I did. ruclips.net/video/ETTmCJY95BI/видео.html Cheers!

That's like 5 different guitars in one! Good effort, sounds epic! Great playing too. Bravo.
Awesome demo Dan. It's amazing how many different tones can be had from one guitar with a few easy mods 🤯
Thanks man! Just have to remember to turn the iron off after the mods 😉😂
@@DanLeggatt Instead of doing a coil split on the bridge why not do a series/parallel coil switching?

Definitely some interesting mods on there. The wide range sounds pretty good!

Loved the whole package with the rebel 90, and the tweaks.
That's a pretty killer axe and some great playing man. Thanks for the sound tips and suggestions!
That's one hell of a versatile setup. Your "single coil" sound was very strat-like.
that red wine with the cream pickup rings is just lovely mate.

Really appreciate the kind words man, thank you! 🤙
That sounds fantastic, you have lovely touch.
That neck sounds sweet! Planing to drop a rebel P90 or soapbar P90 into a classic vibe tele. Just not sure which to go for yet

When you play the "Timmons" tone on the neck, is the capacitor engaged, or is it the full rebel 90?

As noisy as any other p90, they are single coils

Very true. I think they are killer. I love that the body’s aren’t bound too. Makes the edge much less sharp under the forearm when playing.
