    You had me sold on the rebel 90 at 07:23. I've just ordered one for my Les Paul. What a tone! Been looking for chimey neck pickup to replace a muddy SD 59 in the neck and I think this will fit the bill.
    I have the generator in a singlecut Jackson and it's also a great pickup. Reminds me of tweaked SD JB, akin to a Suhr Aldridge or a Dimarzio AT-1. I also did the same capacitor tapered spin o split mod too.
    Great demo and cool guitar.

    My most useful mod is turning one of the knobs into a 'bass cut'. On tele pup selectors you can wire it so that only comes into play in the neck position. Makes dialing the 'wooliness' easier. Also useful for on-the-fly adjustments with the low end as your bassist changes his tone and suddenly you feel you need a brighter tone to still have clarity.

    Fantastic demo of Tonerider pu's, as I am just wondering if it is worth buying the Rebel (looks like it is), I did mod my Pacifica with the Vintage II HB in bridge and a T style Hot Classics in the neck position (sort of a hybrid), so the Rebel P90 would go in the middle to round up the sound scape. Would you recommend a bridge or a neck P90 for the middle position? I am really interested in the treble bleed circuit cap and resistor values and also what value cap did you use to high pass the Rebel P90? Thanks a bunch and rock on.

    • @DanLeggatt

    Hi Dan.
    Few weeks ago I got a set of Birmingham Tonerider Alnico 5...
    The bridge pickup is awesome but i found the neck pickup sounds too wooly like you said....
    I did like you...I swapped the neck for a Rebel neck P90 and it's sounds way better...
    By the way, you mentioned you tried
    several sets of pickups....
    Have you ever experienced the Gibson Classic 57 pickups set.?
    If yes...Did you like them or still prefer the Birmingham ?
    Thanks so much for your opinion.

    Hi Dan !
    I got a pair of Birmingham Alnico 5.
    The bridge pickup is awesome but the neck pickup fell short my expectations...Sounds mushy and lack of sustain...I tried to adjust the height but in vain.
    Tell me Dan, is it for that reason you use a Rebel 90 as a neck pickup ?
    It seems to sound way better than the neck alnico 5 humbucker.
    And i see the rebel 90 have even more output than the humbuckers...
    Could you tell me if the Rebel 90 are noisy when high gain ?
    Thanks in advance Dan.

    • @DanLeggatt
      @DanLeggatt  3 года назад +1

      Hi Richard,
      To be honest, I rarely use a neck humbucker. If I have a humbucker in the neck position, it’s almost always split or wired in parallel. The Rebel 90 has a nice compromise between a bucker and a single coil. It has as much noise as any other single coil or p90 pickups with gain.

    • @richardhenley817
      @richardhenley817 3 года назад

      Thanks so much Dan for your quick reply ! ⭐
      Me too i mainly use the bridge position at 99 % ...
      I was just wondering why you put a P90 in the neck position.
      But anyway I'm gonna order a neck rebel P90 to hear how it sounds like...Because in your demo it seems to sound pretty descent.
      By the way love your channel and your amazing playing.
      Thanks again.👍
