Have you ever heard of corduroy. And not the stuff you wear. You take those logs laying on the side of the road and lay them out in the soft spot like corduroy. Then use good material on top.Just a way we make road through swamps.Made miles of bush haul roads in this fashion.
Just a tip kleeman from a 20+ years operators you never operate digging with the dozerblad in front always In the back !!😉plz go try out the takeuchi tb290 with rotortilt .that is like a Swiss army knife.😉👍💪💪
Captain, the reason that it runs so well and you do not notice any difference while using the other functions of the unit at the same time is for one reason, Load-sensing hydraulics allow for multi-functional operation and precise machine movements, in the Hyundai HX85A's design. It was made and developed as to avoid that while the user is using it and creates less drag time.
Hard to believe any modern machine still has linkage to control any operation, good to know so when i can afford one like that in 10yrs. That may have dual pumps, one for tracking/rotation and one for boom function. Be nice if they all had it.
What's the difference between pilot controls vs electric over hydraulic? I'm not familiar with equipment. That looked like a lot of fun. Now it's time for you and Chelsea to go hunt Easter eggs with your girls. I hope you and your family have a blessed and safe week, and a Happy Easter.
Electric over hydraulic is exactly how it sounds, the joysticks are connected to electric switches that operate solenoids. In my opinion it’s difficult to have a good feel on the machine. Pilot controls allow and operator to have better feel and (again my opinion). Allow for better timing. Pilot control is the older of the two technologies but is a proven tech. The 120 has pilot, the 140 has electric.
Good morning Captain. I have no clue about excavation, except what I learn from you and DP. But I see where the thumb could have saved some time. And time is money. Happy Easter to you and family
Track drive control it's just another one of the many functions of the hydraulics don't worry about it a real good machine will let you do it all simultaneously dig swing track those you name it you got a good machine being able to control all hydraulics all hydraulic functions simultaneously is the gold of any operator 6 and 7 functions if it all possible simultaneously keep up your good work I love it
Having a piece of equipment like that to do trail maintenance sure makes it easier. Safety is always a priority. 3/4 of the property where I currently live (moved there about a month ago) is bordered by city property. Their tree and right of way maintenance is appalling. They have at least three days of clearing and tree removal to open the overgrown right of way and overgrowth of trees in the power lines. Bad enough you can barely see the power lines. I've notified the electric company as well as the city about the issues. I also expressed my concern about one dead tree that is leaning towards the house. Granted, it would have to take out the power lines first, but it could potentially do significant damage to the roof and front side of the house. In addition, the road dead ends at the edge of our property line. We have a lot of little kids who like to play on that part of the road since we don't get very much traffic. At first the city didn't seem concerned, but when I said it is a high-risk safety issue, they didn't waste any time getting the tree removed. And boy, were they glad they did! They had to support the tree as the cut it down from the top in sections using high reach bucket trucks. It was way too dangerous to climb up in because of the severe rot. It's amazing how the right words will get them to get off their butts and do their jobs! It's been at least five years since they last time they did any kind of maintenance in that area. I'm hoping that they get around to doing the entire right of way and all power lines this summer. They have identified a lot of dead trees that need to be dealt with, so we'll see how serious they are. If not, I have my cattle prod words to get them moving! 😂😂
I wish it had a thumb to test against the 120s. And i think mike would love to have This over the Volvo. And i wish volvo would come out and see if they can add power to the volvo thumb
Nice job! Seems like "Hyundai" has been listening and/or you & MIKE are that good. This machine falls in the category of, "It's Not the Size, But How You Use it"! You seem to have gotten done what you set out to do and really never heard the thing over half throttle if that. Have to add also, you've gotten pretty talented with all sorts of equipment as well. SO, thanks for another one and another test of a NEW machine! Hug the family! Sonny (CT)
Happy Easter Captain and family!!! You were having way too much fun in the Hyundai, definitely a treat for you ! Good stats you put up throughout the video. Over here I have never seen an excavator with a thumb, plenty with different attachments on. Frogs were having a good time too !! 😉

With any machine your boom movements will be different depending on your throttle setting to some point. Controlled by flow and flow is determined by the RPMs of the machine and the hydraulic pump
Just watched your video Captain, albeit from behind the sofa and with my better eye, and to be perfectly honest it was not half as bad as I expected, in fact pretty good.........that puts you halfway to becoming a buddie 👍
I imagine this machine is as well thought out as the bigger one Hyundai let y'all demo last time. I've never been around a Hyundai machine but from what I saw on the other one, they seem like good machines. Happy Easter Cap.
Depends on the work a fella is doing. They do offer 18” and 24” steel tracks as well for that machine. So a company could get exactly what they need for their type of work

Nice excavator but without a hydraulic thumb it is limited for the work you were doing. I have a mini ex and from a recommendation from a more experienced operator bought a 5 finger mechanical grab. As good as it works, after watching lets dig and then finding dirt perfect, a hydraulic thumb is 100 times more useful and easier to use. Every excavator I buy from now on will have a hydraulic thumb. Only problem is in Australia they are very hard to find. Great video though.

Yeah, with the swing booms on minis, the book is definitely more forward, BUT, I could see the end of the right side track out the right side window, which I was thought was impressive for the size of the machine and swing boom setup.
I see that Mike keeps the new machine as clean as his other machines. It doesn’t take that long to wash them down, and the inside, OMG what a mess
Bet that guy in the pickup was hiding Easter eggs.
