Lance if I was in the middle ages I would strongly consider using a lance in tournament because I would be reminded of your methodical approach to brewing and I would probably win tournaments often and honor various princesses present but in my heart I would still think of you and the amazing content you put out thank you
Lance this machine is really a killer for the price range. it can give wide range of play for brewing which makes it really suitable for thinker HB. The only down side is pf design imo.
Lance, you are one of a kind. I really like that you show how to mod machines to make them perform beyond their off-the-shelf capabilities. Your depth of knowledge and willingness share that knowledge, warts and all, is really a help. Even though I don't own this machine, I still learned so much from your videos on it. Plus, your singing is much better than the Hoff's.
I love this cheapie machine stuff. I just bought $100CAD POS that I’m having tons of fun playing with. Your recent “cheapie machine” videos have really helped. The only thing I wish I could change on the machine, is that it has a 2 second “pre-infusion,” followed by a 2 second pause. So when I want a proper pre-infusion or a longer bloom, it still does that stupid 2 seconds on, 2 seconds off crap after I’ve bloomed or pre-infused. Still, for $160CAD invested (extra $60 was for a kit that had a 51mm Breville Café Roma style bottomless portafilter, 16g single wall basket, dosing ring and puck screen), I’m having, as Daddy Hoff would say, a great time.
I spent a week in Santa Barbara remote working out of Dune's Anacapa location. They completely changed my mind about Americano's (I don't know what I was drinking before that was served as an "Americao"). I am currently re evaluating how necessary a steam wand would be for me, but it makes me a lot more interested in these budget machines that still pull nice shots. The price of what I consider a worthwhile espresso grinder is still prohibitively expensive :( thanks for reading my rambling. ❤
Thank you for sharing your amazing knowledge/wisdom/research
Try it Long Black - Australian style. Water first and brew espresso direct into water.
Don’t know the full reasons why but in my opinion it’s so much better than shot then adding water.
Maybe that’s what you were having served?
Or of course - maybe it was the beans!
I think I did notice them doing that at Dune. I have been drinking them at my LCS now that the
Santa Barbara trip is over. I will have to ask my LCS how they are doing it. 👍🏼
Unfiltered never disappoints!
Thanks Lance.
I think having more of these modding videos would be great!
It costs under $200 if you look around a bit, that's probably what it costs to upgrade a used GCP, but you don't get a shot timer in that price.
Lance maybe you could help me troubleshoot one thing. On my machine after 6 month of use steam wand stopped working. There’s no steam pressure when I open the valve in steam mode. And water or steam going through a group instead of the steam wand. What might be the problem?
loved the video!
?? on adjustments on a mcilpoog tc 530 espresso machine help please and thank you in advance all the buttons used to control like bar.pid blum help TY
Curious why you set the OPV higher vs lower, to achieve peak pressure closer to 8-9 bar (vs 10+)?
Thank you for this! I like the raw format.
I didn't remember which way I turned it lol. Wanted to check where it was at and by that time felt the video would to too long.
I came for the chaos.
I came for Hance's wife 0:58
You are good!! ❤
When it’s all about everything but the coffee …what the hell did I just watch ?
This little machine seems like a possible Gaggia killer or no?
If I remember correctly Lance said this was around 300$, I don't know the current prices off the top of my head but I'm pretty sure you can get a Bambino for this price or a lightly used Gaggia (maybe even a new one if you shop around). I mean, the Gaggia has a 3 way solenoid, infinitely better build quality (actually made of metal), standard 58mm portafilter, etc. The only thing this machine has that the Gaggia doesn't is the ability to change temperature and a faster heat up.
And the Gaggia is repairable.
@@vbence12 It's under $200 if you do some searching!

@@dejedejsson I don't know. My Gaggiuino build cost about 300 usd and that has full flow profiling (but yes obviously not everyone has the tools to build one). Also now everyone have a shot timer in their pocket or can get a stopwatch for next to nothing.
H10 Plus is coming :)

Upon the utterly annoying gormless initial word-bite of "what's up everyone", I immediately pressed pause, wrote this message to you and stopped watching any further!
Aw now I'm going to go cry. I lost such an important viewer.
