Agreed. Although from 1917 till 1921 there was tense between Finland and Sweden. When Finland got her Independence there was a dispute over controlling Åland. No one surely knew which one controlled. Soon after, the League of Nations solved the disagreement as the whole island was part of Turku Archipelago (Group of islands linked up with Turku and its area that is an actual city in Western-Finland). There was an actual threat of War breaking between two. Luckily it was avoided. Åland belongs to Finland. Since then relations between Finland and Sweden have improved year by year significantly.

Finland is is definitely a peace-loving nation but a militarily strong country, considering that the 900,000 reserve is large even in the world (5.5m populatio) , owns the largest artillery in Europe (1,400 units) and owns the most bunkers with which they provide protection for almost all Finns. Sweden and Finland together will definitely create a really strong defense in the north. Both have their strengths. but both countries are equipped with high technology. Sweden has not been a direct threat because it does not share a border, so Finland has become a more militarily equipped country
Well we might not have too many infantry or artillery as you have (naturally since we don't need it) but our air force and navy is not to be taken lightly. I think you and us will make a perfect team militarily. We are raising our military spending now with 50% in a few years so let's see what we spend it on.

How much more? There are few people in Finland who are combat-ready. The largest number of reservists in Europe is in Russia and Ukraine. Almost every grandma and grandpa can hold a machine gun there.

Sure anyone can fire a weapon but if we are talking about people that is trained in tactics etc, then it is 10 years. Alot change in all armies (well maybe not in russia) during 10 years.

Finnish military relies on its big amout of reservists tho so it would have been nice if that was also mentioned. Plus finland has more tanks than the other nordic countries combined.
You need more tanks due to your type of border (russia). As not bordering to russia Sweden have a different type of defence. Sweden is exporting tanks from Hägglunds (Slovakia, lately). (P.s. Will never type russia with a capital "R" again.) 👿

@@Keisarifi The military is only a small part of the alliance. Britain was Finland's closest ally in the European Union with Sweden, the Netherlands and Estonia. Brexit was a big loss for Finland. I am sure we can count on the help of the British, I am skeptical about the Germans.
World War II was a different matter. Germany did not help Finland because we were friends or because they wanted to help a small country that experienced injustice. Germany helped because Finland was a useful ally for them.

Well as a swede with a Finnish gf I can confirm that the countries and cultures are rather similar. One interesting fact is that in Finland both Finnish and Swedish are official main languages, which means that for example both languages are mandatory to learn in school and all road signs are written in both languages. In Sweden however only Swedish is an official main language, while Finnish is one of the national minority languages. This means that the finns usually has a lot more knowledge about Sweden than swedes have about Finland. The reason for this is that a long time ago Finland was a part of Sweden and therefore a lot of swedes moved there and a lot of governmental bureaucracy was written in Swedish instead of Finnish, even if Finnish was spoken by most people in Finland even then.

As a Finn, I'm honestly impressed by how well this video has been made. Cannot point out many errors at all. Highlights very well the similarities between our countries! In a way, culture too. Finland and South Korea have both been more influenced by their big neighbour. While Sweden and Japan have often gone off doing their own thing. Even South Korea and Japan have the same sibling rivalry when it comes to sports and what not.

I love the nonsense fact claiming that Finland is a oil producing country. Yes, almost every developed country including Finland has oil refinery’s, but apparently Sweden has none.

Finland IMPORTS oil not EXPORTING it. That’s the difference. It’s good thing to have oil reserves in this very country. If the war breaks out in the east we could at least rely for a time in oil reserves. The panzers and other AFVs and Air Force, trucks and motorbikes need them. If we get cut off from oil sources our Army becomes as sitting duck as possible and we are getting destroyed in no time.
Thats wrong preemraff in Gothenburg and Lysekil are quite big and we have a smaller plant in Nynäshamn.

To be fair the stats are lying a bit. Finland has a way better military than we do. Not just counting troops (where Finland has 900k in Reserve) but also the civil defense. In Finland they still have stockpiles of food, medicine and fuel, something our smart politicians got rid of in the -90's. We are nowhere near Finland's readiness when it comes to defense even though we spend more money on our military.
To be fair you are just a lying jealous finn finland does have 900k but only around 200k of them can be equipt and armed and 2/3 of them are conscripted and most of finnish equipment are outdated and finland does not produce their own weapons like sweden

Both wanted to join NATO because a threat posed to them. For years, they stood by and watched while they had a chance to enter this union. now they need the support of other countries for their own interests. we call it hypocrisy. Swedens top sport is Ice hockey, not football. Sweden is considered to be one of the best, being top 5 in that sport (better than Finland many times who is also a top 5), while in football Sweden don't do as good. Also why is Estland allies with Sweden and not Finland? Would Estland not be happier being allies with Finland rather than Sweden? I think there are some wrong information in this video.

@@user-jg6wz8tm4w don't know where you get your numbers, but according to the official numbers stated by SCB (Swedish central bureau of statistics) the population of Sweden was 10 452 326 by 31st of december 2021. We were around 8 million from about 1970 to 1990 though, so that's what many of us were taught in school.
