british airways 5390 is INCREDIBLE. the pilot got sucked out of the window, wedging the plane into a nosedive, stewards held on while they nosedived, even though they thought he was dead (so he wouldnt be sucked into the engine) the copilot landed them perfectly in an unfamiliar airport with no guides, AND THERE WERE NO FATALITIES. THE PILOT SURVIVED.

For those wondering why you cant inflate a life jacket inside a plane during a emergency its because when you do so and the plane is sinking in the water, you will rise to the top of the plane and wont be able to escape unless you take off that jacket!
On January 16, 2002, the flight encountered severe thunderstorm activity during approach to its destination, suffered flameout in both engines, and ditched in a shallow river, resulting in one fatality and several injuries. A Garuda Indonesia Boeing 737-3Q8, similar to the accident aircraft. While the aircraft was flying over Didcot, Oxfordshire, an improperly installed windscreen panel separated from its frame, causing the captain to be partially ejected from the aircraft. He was held in place through the window frame for 20 minutes until the first officer landed at Southampton Airport. On board were 309 passengers and a crew of 13. As Flight 780 neared Hong Kong, the crew were unable to change the thrust output of the engines. The aircraft, an Airbus A330-300, landed at almost twice the speed of a normal landing, suffering minor damage.
