Thank you for this! St. Louis native, here, and let me tell you, we all were rooting for Toya, back in the day. She had billboards all over the city and on both sides of the water (STL and ESTL). Her album was dope, but hard to find. I remember asking one of my upper classmates to hold a CD for me, when he worked at Walmart. I was so disappointed that the album didn't get the push that it deserved, and waited patiently for its follow up. The remix to I Do! with Murphy Lee was a banger! Other possible singles could have been Moving On, What Else Could I Do?, I Messed Up, Book of Love and/or possibly Fiasco ft. T.I. She had a strong voice and her own swag (especially for her being so young). Lol. She even had a mini dictionary to break down her Midwest lingo in her CD booklet (for all of the non-St Louisans). To this day, I still bump her CD, especially after washing and waxing the car. Check out I Do Pt. 2.

I really enjoyed Toya's album. To this day I still have her songs in my MP3 player (yes that's how I listen to music). Glad she's doing good. She don't need the music industry. She's got something much more precious and important. Family.
I remember her back in the day early 2000s, she was so talented it’s a shame her career went downhill. Despite of her music flop it’s good to know she’s doing well in life outside of the music industry.
Yeah I really thought she was going to take off all she needed was a collabo with a popping artist from that time and she was going to be in. That was the early 2000 formula be on a hot track with the rapper and then do your own song or vice versa
I remember Toya and I believe Drew. Big Les said the same thing about ppl in the industry wanting women to sleep with them for advancement. What a shame
They rarely played "I Do" on the radio, but the second single "No Matter What" got played a lot on the pop stations so im surprised it didn't chart higher than it did. but i'm sure la reid had something to do with that too. her album was actually pretty good but to be honest there were better songs on the album that could've been singles over "I Do".
Thank you for this. Being from St. Louis, I had no clue what truly happened to Toya. I chunked it up, like it’s several artists that come from STL & yet have a short span in the industry. Toya, being a native- probably pushed hard in the beginning cause she knew that history, coupled with her work ethic as well. It’s good to hear the update on her. May she keep God first & He will continue to direct her path. 🥰
I'm glad to see Toya is doing well. I bought her album when it first came out, and it was a really good pop album. "I DO" is still my jam! Please do a follow up for Mona Lisa!! She sang "Can't Be Wasting My Time" and "You Said." She had a beautiful voice!
I have wondered about her for YEARS! I remember watching the premiere of her video "I Do". I loved it! She wore the red Thriller jacket in the video and because I'm a MJ Stan, I was here for Toya but I didn't see her at all after the video dropped. Thanks for this! Taking me back to high school👍
I knew Toya. She was a friend of my father who had a friend that worked with music producers in St. Louis. I was born there and lived there until I was 10 and I hung out with her and I bought her album. Still bump it to this day. I never knew this was why her music career never took off but I am happy that she grew her family and is living a better life. I miss her. I know she may not remember me but I’ll never forget her and her sweet warm smile and energy.
Same song, different artist...sad the music industry is so scuzzy....glad that today's artists have more direct options for being heard...now Drew, Drew want all the smoke, bet we haven't heard the last of her ...
Thanks for doing her story. Toya was one of my favorite singers when I was a kid. Her album is great. I wish she would have been more successful. "I Do" is still a great song that I listen to every now and then.
This is what I'm talking about when I say that those women at FOX News who claimed they were "forced" to get on their knees could've walked away? This is what I mean. They wanted the fame and money and did anything to get it then diminished what Tarana Burke did with me-too. Made that movement a joke. Kudos to those, like Latoya, for standing their ground.
I was done w/ LA Reid when Charlamagne asked him if he had an affair with Chili and he answered "If I did like one of them it wouldn't be HER." Like Chili was so disgusting. He's a color struck perv and karma is real.
So sad for Drew. I was for sure bumping this album in high school 😩 It’s good to know she is seemingly happy and that she and her husband are still together. ♥️
I didn't realize that she didn't have a good career. Where I'm from we bumped "I do" all the time, in the clubs, the skating rink, everywhere. It was a big hit in Atlanta in the summertime that it came out. I still bump it like it's brand new ❤️❤️
Holy shit I forgot about her song "I Do" sounds so good and it still slaps. TY for the reminder, sux that La Reid was just another Weinstien with too much power over artists careers :(
RRG.. Thank you time taken for the information.... It seems as if LA Reid and Pebbles took advantage of people Mentally~ Emotionally~ Financially.... Lisa { Left Eye} Lopez exposed the shadiness Toya is living her best life possible with her Family..I can imagine she hasn't any interest in music after the goings on
I LOVE I Do & the remix with Murphy Lee! I was 12 when she came around. I'm SO glad she didn't sell out on the industry. It's such a cut throat place and no place for morals, values, dignity. Kudos to her💛🌻
It's crazy I thought some people would at least heard of Toya in the comment section, but it's a good thing Drew and Toya are in better places Great Video by the way
It's always been a dirty business. I'm glad both ladies moved on to better things. The lady has dignity and character, this you can't buy. Much success to you both.
I'm glad you did a video on her RRG. I have some of her songs on my playlist. I'm extremely glad that she is doing well for herself these days. Thank you RRG.
I remember her and LOVED her song. I was really looking forward to seeing what else she had in store. It’s sad what this industry does to talented and driven people.
being right there in the midwest, i definitely heard Toya's I Do alot. It got plenty of airplay all summer long in 2001. And then the video dropped, i was sure that she was on her way. All these years later, im glad that things happened how they did for her. Bless her and her fam.
Everyone who failed in the industry should consider it a blessing and someone was looking out for them. Look at Micheal, Whitney, Prince and others it's evident the industry is dark, evil and shady
Whitney's family had a lot to do with her issues more than the industry. Her bro admitted to being the first to give her drugs and the family member who was her main handler and executor of her estate is also shady af. Whitney never had a chance. Michael, a lot of the same, his family started his issues. Industry didn't help but...
Drew is the sweetest person ever. I genuinely believe her. So sorry she had to go through all the BS she endured. I wish her and her family all the best. These men in the industry are just disgusting.
Sometimes, trials can turn into triumph! I am so glad that Toya has found joy in her personal life. That is so much more important than any slimy music exec. I wish her continued joy and favor.
Toya was unsuccessful in the music industry but she won in life with her husband and kids. They said the best revenge is living well - I concur.

Yeah I really thought she was going to take off all she needed was a collabo with a popping artist from that time and she was going to be in. That was the early 2000 formula be on a hot track with the rapper and then do your own song or vice versa
I love how she has excelled and didn't let that disappointment negate her from achieving success elsewhere, Tupac said it best "KEEP YA HEAD UP"
I remember Toya and I believe Drew. Big Les said the same thing about ppl in the industry wanting women to sleep with them for advancement. What a shame
I purchased her album and really enjoyed it. So had to hear she is doing well. Thank you for another great video!
They played “ I do” on the radio all the time in my area back in the day. But I never heard “ no matter what” on the radio not a single time
Where I was in El paso Texas at the time they always played I do. I had the album to.
@@OldFordTaurus me either I heard no matter what on the album
Agreed
If Drew is being truthful, props and respect to her. I've never heard of Toya either but she seem like she's still winning to me.
Yes this would be a good wine!
That’s why so famous artists are unhappy and on drugs and alcohol the thing they did to become rich and famous😬😮
TRUE TEA!
"industry rule number 4 thousand and eighty: record company people are shadyyyyy." 😏
Basically lol
Tribe 🙌🏾 iykyk
Thank you for this video! I used to play this album so much!
Same song, different artist...sad the music industry is so scuzzy....glad that today's artists have more direct options for being heard...now Drew, Drew want all the smoke, bet we haven't heard the last of her ...
Thanks for watching ❤❤
Thanks for doing her story. Toya was one of my favorite singers when I was a kid. Her album is great. I wish she would have been more successful. "I Do" is still a great song that I listen to every now and then.
Thanks for watching ❤❤
Facts
No Matta What is better
This is what I'm talking about when I say that those women at FOX News who claimed they were "forced" to get on their knees could've walked away? This is what I mean. They wanted the fame and money and did anything to get it then diminished what Tarana Burke did with me-too. Made that movement a joke. Kudos to those, like Latoya, for standing their ground.
I was done w/ LA Reid when Charlamagne asked him if he had an affair with Chili and he answered "If I did like one of them it wouldn't be HER." Like Chili was so disgusting. He's a color struck perv and karma is real.
That's why I don't worry about them if they hate real melanin then it's their lost.
It was probably to kill any speculation righty then and there , because he had something with Chili and his wife Pebbles scorned by it
@@honeylamour1 he never had anything with chilli he doesnt even like darker skinned women pebbles was probably just jealous cause chilli was fine
Well he does have a point she ain't cute tho 😩 but I get your point tho
So sad for Drew.
I was for sure bumping this album in high school 😩
It’s good to know she is seemingly happy and that she and her husband are still together. ♥️
I don’t think that I have heard of her. That’s messed up how they did her. Great video as usual!!!! 💛💛💛💛
I’m glad her and her fam are doing good. I def remember her music.
❤️❤️
Unfortunately these types of things happen more often than they are told. Glad she found someone she could be happy with
I didn't realize that she didn't have a good career.
TY for the reminder, sux that La Reid was just another Weinstien with too much power over artists careers :(
I Do by Toya is STILL a hot joint. I thought she had promise as a young talent. She seemed to be following in the footsteps of Aaliyah and Mya.
It's played here in stl is often.
She is definitely winning. I hate this happened to her but God definitely has her and her family’s back 💚♥️
She had the PERFECT end story. She now has the perfect life! Life has been good to her.
❤❤❤❤
Thank for this! I bought this single back in the day! Thanks for reminding me to add this to my playlist!
RRG.. Thank you time taken for the information....
It seems as if LA Reid and Pebbles took advantage of people
Mentally~ Emotionally~ Financially....
Lisa { Left Eye} Lopez exposed the shadiness
Toya is living her best life possible with her Family..I can imagine she hasn't any interest in music after the goings on
I believe Drew. come on now this was 2001-2002! it happened A LOT
Good for her. It sounds like she dodged a bullet with all of the industry foolishness, and she has a happy life. 💞
Thanks for watching ❤❤
Beautifully done, thank you for the update.
I just play "I Do" today. I'm glad that despite not being successful in the music industry..she is successful in life.
Thanks for the update. I’m from STL and wondered what happened to her. Glad to see she did well for herself
I LOVE I Do & the remix with Murphy Lee! I was 12 when she came around. I'm SO glad she didn't sell out on the industry. It's such a cut throat place and no place for morals, values, dignity. Kudos to her💛🌻
Agreed
I loved that song! Glad to see she is doing well👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks for watching ❤️
She’s very nice! I had the chance to meet her when I was young. Her manager with to high school with my dad.
Aww how sweet!
Awesome job covered this story
Glad you enjoyed it
Mannnn that snoop dogg gif whooo takes me out every time I see it 😭😭😭😭😂😂😂😂
LMAO
It's crazy I thought some people would at least heard of Toya in the comment section, but it's a good thing Drew and Toya are in better places
Great Video by the way
It's always been a dirty business.
I'm glad both ladies moved on to better things.
The lady has dignity and character, this you can't buy.
Much success to you both.
I'm glad you did a video on her RRG. I have some of her songs on my playlist. I'm extremely glad that she is doing well for herself these days. Thank you RRG.
Thanks for watching ❤❤
Her album "Toya" is really good! She can saaaaang!!
Yesss!
YASSS!!! She’s WINNING IN LIFE!! Forget the industry. God had other plans for her. I am so happy for her!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm here for ALL of it ☺️ Come on through RRG 🥰
Thanks for watching ❤❤
I didn’t forget this song. This song is in my play list today.
Her song "I Do" was the jam. I hate that she didn't get a chance to really shine.
Another great episode!!!!!
You watched that fast? 🤔 😂
The music industry has a zoo of vipers and snakes. You must have your head on and tough skin. Great video as usual RRG.
I remember her and LOVED her song. I was really looking forward to seeing what else she had in store. It’s sad what this industry does to talented and driven people.
She still won. 2 amazing beautiful kids and a wonderful Husband, continued her education. BIG WIN
being right there in the midwest, i definitely heard Toya's I Do alot.
@@squarebear619 I definitely agree with everything you said but I know a few people who work in that industry and it's just not a good place.
Don’t forget Amy Winehouse
aaaaawwwww I was such a fan!!!!! I put other people on to her music back then - I'm so glad she's a family woman - thank you for sharing this
Drew is the sweetest person ever. I genuinely believe her. So sorry she had to go through all the BS she endured. I wish her and her family all the best. These men in the industry are just disgusting.
I cant believe you DUG THIS SONG up! I haven't heard this song since middle school crazy!! jamming!!
I have no idea who she is…but I’m glad she’s got a supportive husband by her side.
Thanks for watching ❤❤
You go girls! They both accomplished greatness, both Drew and Toya.
She took no loses she ended up with a beautiful family and a happy abundant life
@@JTScott1988 after seeing how the industry really works I doubt it
I remember Toya and still listen to her album from time to time (STL native). It's an early 2000s sound for sure. Thanks for the video on her.
Right on time my mama telling me the same thing 4x now I can listen to this with my earbuds in 🤣🤣
😂😂😂
😂🤣😂
I remember toya I still listen to her song I Do it’s still a bop she’s beautiful and underrated
She’s gorgeous‼️ Clearly she’s a beautiful girl but her personality seems so genuine.
I haven’t listened to the video yet but I remember Toya. I love the song “I do”. I think she’s doing well in her personal life. Good for her! ❤️
Wow I watch I Do at least once a week on RUclips ! 😂 I remember this being played on 106
We hope you enjoyed the video! ❤
Sometimes, trials can turn into triumph! I am so glad that Toya has found joy in her personal life. That is so much more important than any slimy music exec. I wish her continued joy and favor.
