In his mind he thought he was Robin hood but the difference between him and Robin Hood is that Robin Hood gave back to impoverished communities. Hushpuppy kept all the money for himself.
Tbh I think poorer people sometimes have a warped view of being richer. I’m not sure they see student debt, working to the bone, mortgaged, inheritances, luck in general, networking which contribute to someone’s income when they’re rich.
The internet shows the flashy parts of a richer lifestyle but also makes it seem more attainable (which it could be, but I think it’s hard to see the things at work when you see legit rich people).

Puppi boy didn't flaunt his stolen money for him, he did it for his Instagram viewers. His constant need to be validated as someone wealthy and important without honestly and legally working for it is what destroyed him. He couldn't help but flaunt it all every moment he could. If there were no way to show everyone the Gucci slippers and poser lifestyle, he would have never become the thief he is. To him, all the flashy material things mean nothing if he can't show them and get some sort of praise for it.
Greed, low self-esteem and stupidity sums HushPuppi.
Most of these scammers are given a breathing space by the law enforcement agencies to build a case against them. In addition, they use them to help identify the network of the criminal gang.
Some assume and think that they are just too clever hence the reason why they are not caught. The kind of money they bank automatically raises red flags.
So, going on social media to try and make it look like legitimate income is usually the beginning of their downfall because they indirectly help to create a catalogue of evidence which later becomes the nail in their coffin.
