    She lifts her view to the moon round
    Troll journey through the woods
    Gathered they wait in innermost grove
    Troll journey through the woods
    Come, join the ring - and the dancing shall last the whole night
    Laughter and liveliness, the bonfire is lit
    Troll journey through the woods
    There's rustling in the trees, and excited awaitening
    Troll journey through the woods
    Come, join the ring - and the dancing shall last the whole night
    She walks toward them on naked foot
    Troll journey through the woods
    She knows that she must be brave tonight
    Troll journey through the woods
    Come, join the ring - and the dancing shall last the whole night
    The moment approaches, she is ready
    Troll journey through the woods
    The wind dies down on every field
    Troll journey through the woods
    Trap me and free me, let the dancing commence
    Troll journey through the woods
    From all directions the singing comes
    Troll journey through the woods
    Come, join the ring - and the dancing shall last the whole night

    • @BiggusD77
      @BiggusD77 Год назад +2

      @@Platica.Vasile "Troll journey" is more of a direct translation of "trollferd" that has little meaning in English. The context would suggest more of a witches' procession. "Troll" has more than one meaning in Norwegian. It's the folkloric creature, as everyone knows, but also appears in the word "trolldom", which means witchcraft.

    Å! Denne sangen har jeg ikke hørt på femten år eller mer. Men jeg tror det var fra en demoplate, tror jeg. Vakkert, men i mitt minne er "originalen" bedre :)

    Beautiful, but verses are very close to a Loreena McKennitt track (The Mystic Dream)n while other more recent tracks follow Tori Amos's steps. With no disrespect for this great singer, I prefer her material from "Exile" or of course early The 3rd and the Mortal LP & EP. But I don't say it's bad, don't get me wrong...I was just expecting more.

    • @jezkn
      @jezkn 9 лет назад +4

      Sorry - can't accept that. Trolford was released in 1997 in album Spindelsinn by Kari. It's based on a traditional Norwegian folk song (as you can tell). Therefore it was done LONGbefore anything of Loreena McKennit (and before she existed).. If anything it shows where she cribbed her influences from - NOT Kari.
      And this performance is in a CLASS of its own - just sensational with vocal quality a hundred times better than anything from Loreena McKennitt.
      However glad you dont say it's 'Bad' - Norwegian people could have taken that the wrong way - but fortunately for you they are a forgiving lot.

      Hi it was not such a negative critic you seemed to find (besides it is known I praise what she did with her previous band & some recent stuff too, just questioning influences, but I take your answer as it is...passionate & radical...in the same time, having been involved in ancient music, if it is as old as you suggest (& of oral tradition), you have to know nobody knows how the music sounded really in each country as nothing was written before approx 14th c. (as you said in your own words "based on...", it is necessarily a new creation musicwise (not lyrics, ok, I believe you). Nevermind it is not identical ok it has some melodic connections with her I believe (just my opinion). I do not agree with you with extreme judgements such as "a hundred times better" it is different I consider these 2 artists as interesting & talented, that's all ,that's my opinion. No need to argue so much about that, I hope you dont' get me wrong with it. If you don"t understand this, ok no problem. Besides, Loreena 's album is from 1994, just to let you know...

    • @jezkn
      @jezkn 9 лет назад +3

      HeartnSoul99+1_Selections I've just listened to both again - and I can't see ANY melodic connection at all. Plus Kari is singing in Norwegian. Totally different to me. I'm not suggesting it goes back to the 14th century - or that its ancient music. But it IS a Norwegian folk tune - so it must have PRECEDED Loreena Mckennit - that's the point - so if there is any similariuty Loreena Mckennit got it from this Norwegian folk tune.- not the other way round.
      Actually talking about ancient music, the Loreena Mckennit number you mentioin 'Mystic dreams' - has a 'generic' medieval influence (crumhorns etc) its not folky, and goes into a tabla rhythm with percussion which Kari's doesn't. KARI'S is pure and preserves the original Norwegian folk ambience. I'm afraid I can see no cross influence going either way.
      I don't see any similarity in Kari's voice with Loreena's either. They are worlds apart.(literally - Norwegian & Canadian!). It's not relevant whoevers album came out first. Because they are unconnected.

      Hi I'm not going to argue with you for hours about that, I get the picture of what you say & I agree that some diffferences are big (& you're right Loreena mixes Irish folk with middle-East culture), ok, it was just my opinion in some melodic similarities I felt, which I have to right to express even if you don't agree, coz we are all different, that doesn't mean I don't respect your opinion, so, please do the same, thanks. After all, we both love Kari's music, and that's the main thing believe, besides I love a lot of other Norvegian other artists in some other genres of music. And I met Kari recently after one of her gigs here in Paris... she's lovely. I have great respect about her talent, music and career. Take care.
