Superb live rendition of Nardis! Hank Jones, Tony Williams, and Ron Carter are at the pinnacle creative musicianship. Better than Bill Evans? Nah...just as good but different. Guitarist Mike Sterns version is straight ahead and rock. 2 different eras though. 5 Stars x 2 performance! I never heard a version of this tune I never liked.
After hearing the trio Evans, Lafaro and Motian, which I say is the best jazz trio of its kind, I say that the trio Jones, Carter and Williams is the second best trio.
miles could NEVER HAVE WRITTEN A MASTERPIECE TUNE LIKE NARDIS ,look for another miles tune that is anywhere as good as developed as iconic ,,it does not exist also miles who i LOVE never recorded NARDID he recorded every other tune he wrote ,,WHY DIDNT HE RECORD NARDIS ?? im sure BILL wrote it and made an arrangement to have miles take credit for publishing ,,NARDIS IS A REAL PIANO PLAYERS TUNE AND FITS IN PERFECTLY WITH BILLS OTHER FAMOUS GENIUS COMPOSITIONS LIKE WALTZ FOR DEBBY TIME REMEMBERED ETC i cant prove it but i KNOW IT !!

+J Difool Why don't you need to know? Don't you know how the evolution of music works and how important paying homage to the past is? That's exactly what jazz is all about.
Yes, Miles wrote it for Cannonball's first recording session under his own name, which featured Bill Evans. Evans then owned it for a long time thereafter, since not many people played it. Delighted to hear Mr Hank Jones' excellent version.
Jazz is saving the planet.
🐝🌈💫2022 ✌️🌹
Greta say thank you to jazz indeed !
@@francoislana8014Haha!!!!
Tony Williams...omg. Even in the company of the masters Ron Carter and Hank Jones, he just owns this performance. Great, great musician.
😅
A rhythm section supreme. Both Hank Jones and Bill Evans are unique. But equally brilliant, in my humble opinion. Thanks for posting this.
Amazing bass work in this one.
Very beautiful, perhaps the best Hank Jones I've ever heard.
3 supreme Masters all at the top of their game. Thanks for making this available.
Yeah, probably my favorite drummer. He does some really crazy things on "nerfertiti" and "sorcerer" albums.
i love nefertiti
Yep. Those are the strangest drum parts ever.
definitely the best ron carter solo ive ever heard. sweeeet.
All joking and fun comments aside, this really is a unique and superb take of this beautiful song. Sublime.
Just made my Christmas wish list. I hope I've been good this year.
Swing was completely redefined here in this live recording.
Mais uma obra prime de Miles Davis....uma delícia, pois foi gravado no mítico Village Vanguard!!!!
this is INCREDIBLE RECORDING!
Tony is destroying my brain.......so great!
everyone's incredible here
The first time Enjoy a Ron Carter Solo.

Would love to have heard Bill and Tony together. That would have been great.
@@stixkid9811 Bill Evans was famous for disliking loud drums.
Tony was a (relatively speaking, of course) hard-hitter.
things are just better with Tony
Absolutely kicking that...!
Wonderful version of this piece.
Nardis - Hank Jones p. Ron Barter b. & Tony Williams d...Hank sounds great..1977 Vanguard nyc..
Love Hank Jones
Visit the Amazon site and type "Great Jazz Trio Live at the Village Vanguard" or something like that, you can find a list of this.
Supreme! No words!
Just beautiful !!!
tony and ron are SWINGING LIKE CRAZYY!!!
This is sensational music!
We play it in my Jazz Ensemble :)
its really a fun piece once you learn it well
You are a fine Jazzman! Where are You from? Ciao da Alex.
this is amazing.
I just started taking jazz piano lessons....
...hope your still at it🐝🌈💫Bright Moments

I love bill evans trio but they don't groove like this. Tony is just a harder grooving musician than Paul Motian
Bill Evans + Scott La Faro + Motian le trio inoubliable.
They’re both on the top shelf right next to each other.

Maxime Glomot Why be a snob old timer?

This is ASTOUNDING jazz.
Ummmmm where's the trumpet ?
Dealing dope
what's wrong with the cymbals here?!
Nothing. You are just hearing a ride like nobody else in the world can play. Genius is why it sounds strange.
An it's not the best quality sound I've ever heared so, that plays a big deal in the sound of the cymbals
It's an effect created by using drum sticks with brissels
comic sans...
