Tony Williams...omg. Even in the company of the masters Ron Carter and Hank Jones, he just owns this performance. Great, great musician.

A rhythm section supreme. Both Hank Jones and Bill Evans are unique. But equally brilliant, in my humble opinion. Thanks for posting this.

Yeah, probably my favorite drummer. He does some really crazy things on "nerfertiti" and "sorcerer" albums.

    Superb live rendition of Nardis!
Hank Jones, Tony Williams, and Ron Carter are at the pinnacle creative musicianship.
    Better than Bill Evans?
    Nah...just as good but different.
Guitarist Mike Sterns version is straight ahead and rock.
    2 different eras though.
    5 Stars x 2 performance!
I never heard a version of this tune I never liked.

@@stixkid9811 Bill Evans was famous for disliking loud drums.
Tony was a (relatively speaking, of course) hard-hitter.

After hearing the trio Evans, Lafaro and Motian, which I say is the best jazz trio of its kind, I say that the trio Jones, Carter and Williams is the second best trio.

Yes, Miles wrote it for Cannonball's first recording session under his own name, which featured Bill Evans. Evans then owned it for a long time thereafter, since not many people played it. Delighted to hear Mr Hank Jones' excellent version.
