I used to think they hadn't added it because it was an interceptor and the maps weren't big enough but now I think they just forgot.
They are just too busy creating over complicated crafting events gimmick mechanics and researching fake Soviet Abrams variants to charge 70 dollars on it
@BurningPhoenix I would be down for this. I love the idea of a slower game mode with high rewards to compensate. Plus it could potentially allow things like bombers to become relevant again.

According to some research I made, the Su-15T or TM could carry chaff and flare pods but it would have to give up the gun pod, making it a hard dilema for players depending on their playstyle
ok where is my F-106 Delta dart? or the F-107 Ultra sabre? or the F-102 Delta dagger?
Falcon missiles are pretty trash...
@@VectorGhost but on the f-106 they would be on a very capable platform. both more maneuverable and faster than a phantom.

I called for this months ago. It seems that Gaijin gave up on introducing any more new modes, but IMO a dedicated strategic bomber mode would work and would work VERY well.
The idea would be that the matchmaker would line up say 10-12 high level strategic bombers (ie B-36 to B-58 etc), 3-4 fighters and 15-20 odd strategic targets. Fighter jockeys could choose to become escorts or interceptors while the heavies blew away targets, maybe even with nukes. Losing all your fighters would mean becoming unable to stop enemy bombers, losing all your bombers would mean losing the ability to hit targets, unless of course any of the fighters had an air to ground capability.
By keeping the fighter ratio low this would avoid the usual slaughter of heavy bombers at mid tiers - bombers could stick together for mutual defence or head off individually to make the interceptors job harder. Hell, the mission could even include comprehensive radar, AAA and SAM threats so adding jammer pods, chaff rockets and so on to your bomber loadout would become a thing, as would dedicated SEAD fighters.
I honestly believe that the above game mode would open the game up to literally hundreds of new aircraft types from heavy bombers to pure interceptors to dedicated playable ECM and AWACS aircraft.

It was superceded by the Mig25 but wasnt replaced, Su-15 was the workhorse in the intercptor role until the end of the USSR, been upgraded a lot in the mean time.
Su-15 is one of the few old aircraft that are still mostly classified. no other sim has been able to get them as well.
IL2 1946 modders have done a pretty good job. I like flying it.
I wanna know why the F-106 hasn't been added. It using Aim-4 Falcons is not an excuse anymore. A lot of planes that GJ has just skipped due to demand of newer tous
The oldest versions of SU-15 definitely cannot use gunpod so only the SU-15 T/TM had cannon

people who complain about it not having guns so it's hard to add sound stupid because the sea vixen is already in-game which doesn't have a gun
I think the plane would be cool, but due to Warthunder players not actually understanding how aircraft performance works, its probably a good idea it isn't added. It would be a sprawling piece of shit at low Alt. And would need to operate high and almost no warthunder player fights at high alt despite the fact most super sonic jets are designed for that(minus the tornado).
i think the main reason is because of radar missiles, its a lot harder to dodge them at high alt rather then low alt and even if you spent the time to even get that high either half your team is dead (or the other) or you get shot down by an 27 or 7f
I think the Su-9 with beam riding K-5's and SARH K-55's would be great. Heck, we got R.511's on a Vautour in game now, we should get more of these early interceptors.
I mean I would love to see the Sukhoi T-58VD (The VTOL experimental version)
the later versions of the su 15 can also equip the apu 60 2 rails, so it could use a maxium of 6 missiles alongside the gun pods, and it also could equip a flare pod, the app 50, even after the r60m were retrofitted altough i dont know it i could be used alongside the gun pods
I don't play past early jets and use the Pe 8 for CAS until 7.7 so... I really just want any new purpose built cas options
looking at the gameplay, i just remember, i hope they give the J7II ccip because the f-13 has it for cnn and rockets and it has s-24s
Well. Perhaps they know that they would be problematic. British interceptors are well known lemons and NONE of the Russian prop interceptors are doing well due to having uncommon ROE. Look at mig-3s or I-225. Good players are successfully uptiering them over 1.3 br while majority of players struggling with using them.

My god that first clip looks horrible the lock just being lost is funny I’d be so mad
im currently using the mig 23 ml but i cant never hold a lock in the game mode, only in the practice flight mode, is this a bug with the planes radar, I have flown about 50 missions in this plane and not once have been able to hold a bvr lock, doesnt matter if they in sky or near ground. can you please tell me if this is a bug?
