He brings a positive atmosphere to thousands of people now (and went from 10k subs to over a million in that time) And this hype train allowed him to get a house with extra land to build his ferret rescue. He currently has 30 ferrets and is moving up to 100. He’s also now paying some of his moderators to go full time and giving them benefits. The man lives super frugal and he’s gotten this windfall out of nowhere without asking for it. It was his community’s idea to do this not his own.

    This is the same tatic that TV Evangelicals and politians use just in a more subtle way. 1: be charasmaticly spoken and preach good things, 2: build a community around your charisma, 3: encourage your community to hurl money at you "for a cause" 4: Overly praise your community for being the best loving community ever and make them feel all good inside for giving you so much money. 5: repeat 3 and 4 indefinatly.

    • @AlKohaiMusic
      @AlKohaiMusic 5 месяцев назад

      I mean for politicians that's more taking money from corporate forces then promising that money didnt sway your policy or leadership choices. The Evanglist model is certainly closer, but I'll argue you missed a crucial component to the evangelist pipeline. Yeah the charismatic leader says their fund is for some greater good, but often the active rhetoric utilized to activate the funding is derived from fear. The cult, I mean Church leader will enforce a narrative to the victim that they are destined for an eternity of torture and damnation in the pits of hell, UNLESS they financially absolve themselves via the fund. The fund that leader can report as untaxable religious income, and which they can use for their benefit often times by monetarily lubing up the aforementioned Politician.
      Do I think people can be preyed upon in all 3 scenarios, absolutely. Super pacs propose stakes of societal collapse should their candidate lose, streamers fundamentally profit off a performance that's parasocial entanglement, but let's not pretend that dubious morality is of the same scope and scale as the TV evangelists out there. One is a charismatic idol, the other is a charismatic idol whose telling you if you dont repent via your debit card you are hell bound, and thats not even considering the fact that entire family, and social circles have structured themselves around that latter leader. Victims of evangelists might very well have been exclusively raised knowing only their one church, and that it is infallible and needs their support, lest they and families will burn in hell. Feels a little different in scale when compared to a couple streamers doing a dumb bit that preys on parasocial investment for a currency that can surely be back charged in a few clicks via their bank.
      Tbh I feel for and worry about people who get swept up in this kinda hypeathon, but trying to simile with some of the unabashed manipulators who get to fly their private jets and rake in cash that should be taxed to subsidize programs that could actually help a greater good, but they get to keep every cent of, is a little unfair

    So mathmatically speaking Thor won this battle money wise. on a 50% split with twitch for subs and the bits income for the pandas the pandas gave $50,340.34. Thor however got $50,597.58 with a 50% sub split with twitch WHICH MEANS Money wise THOR won over the pandas. The API broke too hard for Thor to be deemed the winner. And understand the 50/50 spilt with twitch for subs is only giving the streamer $2.49 per Tier 1 sub. So that is how I mathed the calculation was everything for subs being a Tier 1 sub. Also Thor made far more bits which isn't split with twitch, so I believe this may serve as the winning factor for Thor.

    kinda makes me curious on what the equation for hypetrain is
    at lvl55 and 1397% thor had 15,562subs and 1,184,820 bits
    but at lvl55 and 1906% thor had only 15,362 subs and 772,637 bits
    and if we consider bahroo's train it was
    lvl55 and 1603% with 18,091subs and 529,375bits
    so could you game the system somehow by doing subs and bits at specific amounts or at specific intervals to be more efficient at gaining levels and percentage? cus what it looks like is that the numbers of subs/bits dont mattr as much seeing as the lowest of them ended up with the record
