It’s been 21 years since their last full Super Rugby title, but a Caleb Clarke inspired Blues did the business in Auckland on Saturday night, casting aside the Chiefs in slippery conditions to claim the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific crown.

I have been supporting the Blues since 96, even at their lowest I never gave up and 21 years for us to be back home in Auckland was bloody sensational. Champions.
Not really much of a tournament anymore without the world champions participating. Kinda become like the US Superbowl.

Vern Cotter is a great coach. He showed how he good he is when coaching Fiji against All Blacks few years ago.

When I see Akira firing likes today can't stop wandering if this special talent would have approached professionally the game would have finished as one of the all blacks greatest. Unfortunately he showed us sparingly glimpses of his enormous potential. Well done Blues ,Crusaders fan and all blacks from Romania
Unfortunately when he came about kaino was coming to the end of his career but was an unstoppable force plus ardie was still there until the last world cup plus a few others so it was hard for him to break into the all blacks

As a South African I miss the days of waking up Earliest to see my team the Stormers play in NZ in those super 12/14 glory days.
As a kiwi (Blues fan) I miss those days too. Waking up early Sunday morning and watching the NZ teams playing in South Africa. Enjoyed the contrasting styles and seeing the Springboks playing for their Super Rugby franchises.
Blues pack have been dominating the whole season.

As a Saffa I've been enjoying SR Pacific much more than URC, especially the NZ teams. Now that the Crusaders aren't so dominant, I would love to see Saffa teams back in the mix. It always felt like I was watching a test if one of the strong Saffa sides played one of the strong NZ sides.
As a kiwi fan I miss the South African teams too.
I miss the SA Super Rugby teams as well BUT I think the Crusaders will be a threat next year!

Congratulations Blues, the forward game they play is exactly what NZ rugby needs, the forwards were all excellent in the conditions and nullified the chiefs game, great game by Plummer in the conditions as well. We knew it was coming and they played as expected. Chiefs were holding on at half time game was over, they did not handle the conditions and played their final last week, over all wasnt a great final compared to Northern Hemisphere recent rugby finals but weather was a shocker. Only negative of the game was Tony Johnsone nauseating commentary...
usually im okay with tony johnson but im getting a bit tired hearing him 😅
Finally, Auckland rugby back on top. Feel for the Chiefs who definitely played the most exciting rugby this year.

Simple and effective from the blues. Good carries from the forwards, Plummer looking for the easy yards when they were on offer to get them into chiefs territory, and mounting pressure until points were on offer. They maintained the pressure for the whole game. Well done Blues.

I recall having a discussion with some genius earlier in the season. He reckoned Plummer was not up to Super Rugby level.
@@clarke1319 He hasn't shown he can do much behind a less than dominant pack. The good 10s we've had have always been able to marshall a backline even behind an underperforming pack. Luckily for him, there's not a lot of competition for the 10 jersey this year.

We are in the same boat! Saders is my most favourite franchise in NZ. They had a tough 2024 season at the departure of Robinson. I am sure they will bounce back in due course. They're a proud franchise 😎!

Crusaders supporter here. These two teams were top notch all season. Unfortunately only one can wear the crown. Happy for the blues, it's been a long time since they won their last championship so it's good that they finally ended the drought.

He may not have the super star ex factor but he is amazingly dogged on defence and does all the basics very well. That pass was sublime
