This was my first full album of La Traviata And l bought it becomes of Placido Damingo and it was the first time I had heard Ileana Cotrubas and Sherrill Milnes. Right from the moment I heard Ileana l fell in love with her angelic voice and Sherrill Milnes voice. They are my favorite opera singers.
My favorite soprano and my favorite tenor. Simply sublime. I like very much the La Traviata movie by Zeffirelli but I'll always wish he'd've done a second, but with Placido and Ileana. Her voice is so warm and tender, light and vulnerable, without the steely ear drum tattooing notes that sopranos far too often are required to sing even when it doesn't sound good. Thank you for sharing this with us.
UppityG Livestockian hello my friend interesting you should say Ileana cotrubas is your favorite lyric soprano. Because she's mine as well. My wife bought me this Traviata about 35 years ago and we fell in love with her beautiful voice incredible interpretation a childlike quality that she possesses so warm and true. Unfortunately there's no video any of her live Traviata performances. Unless you've recorded a 1981 performance live from the Metropolitan Opera. I have it on VHS that I need to transform to a CD. Earlier a lady was asking if there are any Traviata live performances with Cotrubas. I really don't think there are unless you may know of one. I highly recommend her Rigoletto with Domingo and Cornell MacNeil. It's an excellent performance and Cotrubas is perfect form it is from 1979 live at the Metropolitan Opera. The 1981 performance of Traviata at the Metropolitan Opera Cutrubus later commented but she was not in good voice maybe that's why the Met never released it on DVD. I really appreciate her honesty and her dedication to this beautiful art form. The only regret I have is. That I never saw her in concert or in a live operatic performance Etc. Thank you for sharing your comment. Sincerely Arnold Bourbon Amaral please excuse my typos I just a microphone when I make a comment due to an autoimmune disease excetera excetera so much for the golden years I'm 68 years old and holding. Take care of my friend and CORTRUBAS FOREVER. ☝😳💛🌏🌎🌍🇺🇸🇬🇧🇫🇷🇪🇸🎶🎵🎼💃

Francesco De Riggi Cotrubas owns Traviata my friend. Many considered her to be the best Traviata of the 70's. Arnold Bourbon Amaral
