    War thunder is one of the few games where I won't have a stream or youtube pulled up and playing for some background noise, honestly I almost feel more effective being a little bit farther away from allies sometimes just so I can hear enemies better

      @RoneK_Actual  Год назад +1

      Same here. Or if I do, the other window is muted. Yeah one thing I've noticed and can't stand is allies like to clump on each other which makes it sound like noise vomit. So I try to stay away🤣

    Changing the engine sound settings was easily the biggest thing that helped me get better in this game. Not only does it become a sort of radar, it's also a clue on whether they are aware of my presence. Engine sounds that suddenly stop once I start hearing them is a red flag that they know I'm around.

      Totally! And then it turns into a game of cat and mouse which can be very exciting but also stressful🤣

    I already have this and I can confirm, it's super useful. Always feels like a hacker whenever I turn around to kill a enemy that thinks I'm wasn't aware 🤣

    That's indeed useful, but....
    It's unrealistic to hear another tanks engine while sitting in your own tank. I assume in Warthunder, every one! except of roofless vehicles) is sitting IN his Tank and everyone wants the game physics as real as possible, but turning down your own engine and boost other engines is simply the opposite of realism that everyone screams for. If unrealism in a game is helping the players to get the upper hand, than it's totally okay for them. But if unrealism is putting them in a bad position, they scream for the defs they must do something, so the game becomes more realistic...
    Me playing arcade 99%, the sound really doesn't matter that much to me. I was always aware of this way of soundsettings, but i never used it, because i wanted a bit more realism for me in arcade

    • @RoneK_Actual
      @RoneK_Actual  Год назад +3

      For sure. I dont consider myself a player who wants realism above all else. So I am okay with demonstrating and playing with these settings.
      I remember in our Bradley we couldn't hear anything past 50ft outside the vehicle 🤣

    stereo headphones make such a difference

    Arcade battles have combined teams so I can't really differentiate. Maybe the t34 I'm hearing is my teammate or my enemy who knows. Doesn't help that I suck rn

    Hey, new sub here! Great video! You cannot alter the sound of your engine, but you still can turn it off for a bit with the i key (not in AB). I understand the "why" of your sound settings, apart for the 25% master volume setting. I'd put it at 100% and use the volume wheel on the headset to get it to the level I want. What is the reason for a low input signal?

    • @RoneK_Actual
      @RoneK_Actual  Год назад

      For sure. I just think players are too impatient to use the "I" key to kill their engine. It takes a certain level of patience that I just don't think a lot of players have.
      Thanks for supporting the channel! Means a lot! What do you mean low input signal?

    • @ep8404
      @ep8404 Год назад

      @@RoneK_Actual, if you put the master volume at 25%, then the audio signal coming from the game into your headset is low (weak). What are the benefits to this?

    • @RoneK_Actual
      @RoneK_Actual  Год назад

      Ah I see. I do this to minimize how loud the announcer is. The voice who is like "we're losing." I have a wheel on my headset so I can drop that noise, raise engine noise, then adjust my wheel to make it even louder. So it maximizes how prevelant engines are over every other sound in the game.

    Does it matter if you use headphone in this game or not? I am half deaf, so I can’t tell the direction with headphones.

    • @RoneK_Actual
      @RoneK_Actual  Год назад +2

      I mean headphones would help a tremendous amount. But even if you don't have headphones. Making enemies louder will still give you the information of an enemy close by even if you can't tell what direction. Sometimes just knowing an enemy is close is enough!

    • @larryking7
      @larryking7 Год назад +1

      With headphones you can actually hear the direction they are coming from. It’s a huge advantage. Over time you’ll learn the different engine sounds

    I noticed that in your settings you use 7.1 instead of stereo. I am playing on stereo and I can still hear sound based on where it is coming from but does 7.1 work better than stereo or not?

    • @RoneK_Actual
      @RoneK_Actual  Год назад +2

      I definitely recommend 7.1 as surround channels offer so much for in terms of sound. But I think it requires a headset that is 7.1 compatible or has it built in. But instead of just hearing a tank to left or right. I can hear it to my front left, front right, how far away it is, etc. It's wild.

    • @avitus5770
      @avitus5770 7 месяцев назад

      As far as I'm aware, 7.1 for headphones is pretty much a gimmick, and you need headphones that specifically support it. It's mostly a setting if you have a full room surround speaker setup. I play all my games on stereo and I can still hear distinct directions (front left, back right .etc), it's up to the game to program that into its sound engine.
