oof yeah this video definitely resonated… i find it really hard to separate hobbies from work being a creative person. which ironically I kinda turned the remnants of my crafts into a junk journal which has been a liberating act of making something that I have 0 intention of every selling or showing to anyone (yes glueing trash into a journal is what brings me peace at night).
we absolutely need something personal just for ourselves to actually stay sane in my opinion lol - i love junk journals!! theyre such a fun way imo to really keep track of your life and what happens on a regular basis without even needing to write anything down. what you stick in there means something important to you and no one else
this is so real, me and my bsf always talk about how everybody on the street dresses the same now because social media has gotten so algorithmically uniform that theres no "fashion tiktok" or "deeptok" or anything anymore really, just the same 100 videos getting pushed to everyone

My mom always asked for me to learn, and this year I really wished to learn it, I was practicing my first stitch while your video was playing and now I know how to do it! I hope that I can do my own stuff until the end of the year. I’m so interested to learn more about just how much language shapes our worldview and outlook. I’ve seen some TikToks recommending Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, and it’s piqued my interest ever since. I also want to get more involved with my community whether that be through volunteering, attending a public event at my local library, or making more purchases at local stores/restaurants instead of big box stores/chains.
you are so right and for me this year i just want to get more into philosophy. philosophy is something i slightly hated in high school but i find myself to intrigued by it and i have been reading a lot about it in the past year so i just want to delve deeper into it as a whole and see how philosophy is reflected in certain classical works like the picture of dorian gray and hedonism for example and the philosophy of dostoyevsky for example

I needed this video ❤ My goals this year are to absolutely hone in on taking photos on film and improve my videography! For the longest time, I felt left out and daunted by the idea of working with a non-digital camera but you helped me realize that there’s a lot of beauty in the process of learning, and that it’s never too late for me to join a craft. It’s the best way to honor myself instead of rotting away on my phone and switching between the same 3 apps. I also want to improve my skills of working with stainless steel jump rings for my chainmail projects - people deserve to have high quality things when it comes to handmade creations. Also, the difficulty of stainless steel surprisingly reminds me that I should also be improving my upper arm strength! The true swag is in the journey, the experience, the curiosity, and the lust for life itself.
i really love not only your desire to work with film, since i know that can be a tricky medium that can take some education to do well with, but i really really love your phrase "to honor myself" because i think that's honestly what i'm asking out of people. figuring yourself out, improving your talents and skills, and returning to curiosity *is* honoring yourself and honoring your time here on earth
i sculpt figures. i like to do it but ive been doing it for others, so this year is my year to make whatever i want. i want to challenge myself to do a sculpture every 2 weeks even if its weird. and i want to be able to fully draw my own characters from my head without needing references so ive been practicing human anatomy and how clothing rests and crinkles on people. I am also looking at my favorite artists i well :) I have been severely procrastinating that, because im scared and im not used to drawing or painting without references. I want to build up the skills, knowledge, and confidence to achieve that. to fully love my art and the world i built is ultimately the main goal :). hope u can have fun with ur passions! i like ur beaded art video. it made me think of using my own pixel art in the future

I’ve been trying to get better at knitting!! For a while I was hesitant to start because knitting is seen as kind of a “grandma thing”, but I finally started working harder on it and I’ve found it is something I am very passionate about :))
i really love how many people want to start crocheting and knitting since its a very like /thoughtful/ hobby to have since it can take so much time - i absolutely encourage grandma behaviors!!!! ive gotten into sudokus recently and im addicted...
for some reason gaming is kinda dying on me, which allows me to indulge more time working on music. i've been slowly improving at producing and writing but i want it to become better and better and better. art in general is so amazing because the more you look around, the more there is to see and experience, to hear and be influenced by. im making a sort of album (which is more of a compilation of songs than an actual beginning to end coherent project but whatever) in the style that i've been developping for the past 3 years, and i'm thinking of it as a closing page on that part of my journey. i've explored this style of writing, and there are so many more genres and things i want to try getting into, i need to expand my artistic expression to new things, to always be moving, not sticking to one thing just because it's what i do best or whatever. this is purely for my own sake since i'm not really planning to do any marketing of that album on socials, as im not really good for it and i feel like i havent really found a relevent way to do it so might as well not do it. so even if nobody hears it, im glad to be able to put it out there, just to know i have made something unique that represents me, and that i can move on to something different. i would really love to explore other mediums as well such as images and videos (i got a shitty camcorder for christmas :D), since im realizing that it can hold so many more and different ways of expressions, an entire new world of creativity which i had not really been sensible to up until recently (on a deeper level, of course ive always loved watching things) it takes time, consistency and motivation, and im a very unconsistent and unmotivated person, but im believe my thirst for creation will always push me forward, even if it is at an incredibly slow pace. at the end of the day we should make the things we want to make without thinking about becoming successful or doing something that people will like. just do it for the sake of doing it, everything has a value in it's mere existence.
this is a really amazing response and honestly, i think for you its true, and you absolutely will be pushed by your desire to create to get these projects going and running at a rate that makes you happy! i really hope you make your album even if just for yourself (and maybe a friend to share it with!) and that you enjoy not only the end result but the process that came along with it
