Thank you for letting us tag along on your scenic adventure! We’ve only been to Moab once, but realized we need to return and see more of the surrounding area. We’re not off road enthusiasts, but certainly see the appeal having driven the Schafer Trail/Potash Road from Canyonlands down to Moab. Your video had so much really good footage, that we want to look at doing the other trails on this video.

Thanks for another great video! We made it to OTR this year and had a very enjoyable time. After the wife retires, we'll be able to get out there also.
Thanks to both of you for Top Notch content.

Nice! That Schaffer Loop is my favorite. We did the same drive the opposite way when we were out there in April with the kids. Also did the same route with my Dad back in 1996 and it was still just as beautiful this last time around. Back way in to Canyonlands NP then back down. And be advised when we exited CL NP mid afternoon the line to get in was a few miles long so better to enter through Schaffer. Lot's of folks in Moab seem to concentrate on the "challenge trails", which are fun; but there are also lots of easy scenic trails like these that should not be missed. There is also a "secret" backway into Arches NP with some dino tracks along the way. Onion Creek was our second favorite. It was a little more challenging in the Spring with some snow and mud up there in the high altitudes. And glad to see you pointed out the dino tracks there at the point where you come back on pavement. Something not to be missed.

    I've done those trails.
But I certainly didn't make a work of art video like you folks did!
    Except shots and angles!

Heading down to Moab this week - trying to sneak in the same 3 trails (and Fins & Things for some slick rock). Best part, I’ll have a new to me Mission Summit waiting for me on my return back to Canada, eh. Ask me if I’m excited 😅?! Your adventures solidified my trailer choice.

@cdnjeep wishing you a great time on your trip. Just so you know, we did have some issues with the Summit on this trip. It was sent back to Mission for repairs and we have not heard anything further. Reach out to us by email contact@coddiwomple-overland.com if you have any questions

I have done onion creek both ways 3 times and honestly... your angles of drone shots made it look completely different to what it looks like. I was flying my skydio 2 drone and my fpv drone when there (main drone broke around lockheart basin from needles side. And my shots made it look so huge.. and your angles down low by the water made it look like you did not have huge cliffs to either side. Very creative and different because all the videos show massive red rocks and massive tan piles of the 2nd half of onion creek. Very beautiful area. Was that rose garden hill trail at the end or did you go to beaver/polar mesa route? I always assumed that rose garden was pretty darn hard and rock climby sort of trail.

Pucker Pass in Long Canyon, I slid my truck camper under that rock a few years back what a tight fit. Did you happen to see any wild life during your climb?

Canyonlands had the roads maintained way way better the last time I was there Schaffer Trail, going in through Potash works is iffy-er. Driving on rock beats the hell out of you. Try it for ten miles in a D6, yeah. Not sure who maintains the road up from the Colorado river to Dead Horse SP. Last time I drove it five high end 4x4s were at top hairpin not moving, up past the big rock you drive under going up, I drove around them off a four-foot rock in GMC SIerra, lol. The Road at top was a mess from torrential downpour that day. Personally, I go up to La Sals most often when in Moab, I camp on the back side out of La Sal up top 10K.
Gemini Arch top and bottom is great Place, the word on the Needles has been out for years now.
It is an onslaught over the entire West now with off-road vehicles. The BLM does not have the resources to maintain roads Saint George had one equipment operator in 2009. He retired and they sold much of the equipment. He got rid of one grader and some stuff, when we borrowed dump trucks the other offices did not even want them back. Alvy the Mojave County AZ grader is probably long gone too, Mojave County Seat is in Kingman AZ-ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE GRAND CANYON! Yep.
Staying on the roads is important, Very. Go to Trona CA and look at that mess around it. I see videos on here of Razors down on the Virgin River by Mesquite, not good. There are plenty of AZ Strip roads to destroy your vehicle on if you want. Just go to the 4000 miles of unmaintained roads and specifically canyons.
If driving the AZ strip divide it into four sections. Vegas folks now hit Mesquite hard and cistern area. I either go in Main Street BLM 1069 or Lime Kiln. Never up Valley to TOroweap unless winter of course. THe main areas are: Vemillian/Toroweap-Trumbull/Whitmire Canyon-Bar 10 Ranch/Poverty Moutain/Dellenbaugh-Mokeac well/Lime Kiln Pass/Whitney Pass-cistern-cedar pocket/Tassi Ranch Grand Wash/ Pakoon/Black Rock Moutain-Wolf Hole-Segmiller/Hurricane Valley-Colorado City/Oak Grove is way out to Twin and Kelly Points-NPS so different regulations than BLM.
Get the map! There is a big one that has entire area, GCNP Zion AZ Strip Grand Staircase Lake Mead NRA. Take to much water! Always in summer and beware if automatic trans they can fry if hot 110+ all it takes is one ten-point turn around. Zero services in AZ Strip, none. nada. Hence the two spare tire rule, I had a BLM radio. Even off duty. You don't so either satellite or emrgency locater thingamagig.
I did it all alone 7 years of it basically because nobody would go. I hiked, mountaineered, slept on ground, went for days. WAY BETTER WITH FRIENDS, you want AC and an enclosed vehicle out here, dust sun heat cold. 4x4 is really a must if you are serious but they drove cars out here for years in 40s 50s 60s 70s same roads. 750000 miles of barbwire put up in 20s, 10000 years of native americans you ain't the first people out here.
You might want to watch the AZ public lands lawyer video too. Court for BLM NPS is God knows where, magistrate. $800 ticket for driving off roads, $750 for Marijuana last time I was in court. Yeah, Rangers like my dick sister will give you a ticket. Do a coast guard inspection on your Kayak aka illegal search.
Be smart. Have fun. Do not injure yourself in the wild, slow and steady wins the day. If from east heat exhaustion out here hits you instantly, you have no warning it just all a sudden gets you. Especially if old-errr.
