What these boys don't get is that the women in the household did the sewing of all clothes for the family. There was no 'getting your clothes tailored '. Only those that could afford it! Also, clothes were handed down and patched up.
Someone tell me how an automated textile machine is now classified as a 3D printer? It’s literally creating clothing on demand as opposed to "X" yards of cloth being cut and stitched. Nifty yes. 3D printing? Nope.
The materials that is used and also the process of creating a single garment that fits a person based on their measurements. That's really the difference. The current method of factories creating clothing uses dyes and other processing methods that are extremely harmful to the environment and people. And then since they are not really producing clothings for a person some of it is just thrown away from not being sold let alone the ones that don't even last a year after being purchased.
What will happen is what happens today with 3d printers. Polyester is plastic basically, so you can melt it back down and reuse it. That's what will happen. When your done, your either have the machine at home to melt it or sell it to a company who can and make new filament. It's actually kinda brilliant.
What chemicals go into it to make because studies suggest the petroleum based and synthetic dyes hurts fertility, testosterone and are endocrine disruptors for other hormones. This also goes for many conventional clothing as well. A good abliet a bit extreme example would be those purple airline stewardess clothing that was causing horrific reactions.
So making plastic clothes with machines in revolutionary...... will bring down the price further and increase how much people buy, am I missing something?
How MANY More clothing companies do we need ...Yikes!!!! You can only Wear so much clothes ......Put the MONEY & energy some place positive ... Some place to do good for the country .... just my opinion 😊
This helps nothing. When people are done with it in the trash it goes. If people have this in home they will over use it and in the trash it goes .how about up cycle its what i do and fashion company should start to do the same reuse the fabrics reuse the clothes to make new its not hard and it cuts back on waste. Its honestly the best way.
Because the material they use now is not high quality and long lasting. Plus also the processes used to make them are highly bad for the environment and people. The gist of what they saying is that you use better materials, only produce when there is a demand for that item and make it to fit that person perfectly. A lot better than mass producing low quality clothing.
This man should apply for the Earth Shot Award.
I use to buy 3 t-shirts for $10 dollars downtown and peers in school use to make fun of me. This is better

Not the reporter but the other guy’s voice reminds me of Louis Lift (Rick Hoffman) from Suits (TV Series 2011‑2019).
I dont get how this is a solution
US junk mail is the worst polluter.
Or at least the most annoying.
How about reusing what’s already made?

It’s working from digital code and creating something 3-dimensional. That is 3D printing.
lovely stuff, this is the future!
This is so amazing!! Oh my gosh! I really want that one!
And how will this prevent third world waste? Not to mention that giant plastic machine. People will just make a bunch of clothes they will never wear.
This won't...It will make More ...Too MANY clothing companies.....Yikes!!!!!!!

Where can people buy 3d printing clothes??
how does this solve the issue with people at home creating more things to throw away? what will happen to the factory workers in these countries?
It will be a trillionaire industry, especially if they sell reversible clothes.😊
I don't think that will fit in my apartment...

Let them be reversible and that can wash themselves.
Say no to plastics!
