When driving a GTR one feels more confident about putting their foot into it going out of a corner. The GTR is pulling pretty hard regardless. The vette is showing it's better breaking and cornering capabilities but it's still scary getting the power down on a corner. Takes a better drive to achieve the same things in a vette than one can in a GTR. Great video and driving. Looks loads of fun, keep em coming
When it comes to AWD I'm a believer. It's so much easier to get power down. I still prefer the Z06 however. But it's harder to drive at it's limits. Thanks for posting. I love z06 vids. Cheers
I don't know if you can see it or not. But he did record it inside the car. You can see the dash, as well as the reflection on his windshield from the inside.
It was on a car blog, there was no video taken and it hasnt been confirmed yet but Nissan had said that that was the laptime, had given an updated final straight-away speed and a speed increase through turns. I did say "supposedly" because it was never recorded on camera. There are rumours they are going to test the car again sometime in May officially but to my knowledge that was the only run by the 2013 model
You'd think that the Vett would have the advantage under braking, the long apex corners, and through those quick transitions, but he doesn't seem to be able to gain much in those areas at all, and he's getting absolutely murdered accelerating out of the corners. You can see that the GT-R is is even out of shape in a couple corners, but doesn't even seem to matter, since it's so easy to recover from a slide with that thing. Key here is, the Corvette gets murdered coming out of the turn.
I just so happen to also have a GTR. I think it's funny when kids come on these pages and think they know everything there is to know about something they know nothing about. "DUDE, AWD cars NEVER spin wheels." Cracks me up.
I really like both Z06's, GTR's (also the 94-96 Cobra Mustang and MK IV Supra's). As a technical solution and build quality the Nissan is second only to the Lexus LFA. I wouldn't trust the GTR driver was going flat out and I suspect he had bad rear tires too but for me a well put together Z06 like this one seems to be would be really hard to resist. I think that would be the most fun for the money.
The Corvette was going to chase down the GT-R either way. The Corvette was not faster in straight lines but the guy corners extremely well. This is almost like watching a pro race car driver race. This is just incredible driving, any other amateur driver would've spun out the first few seconds. Incredible skills with such a beastly car.
I think the corvette driver could have passed him sooner if he took a better line during cornering. My track experience has taught me to take a more straight line in the corners. There were a few where it seemed he was driving with them. but he did a real good job keeping that tail from getting loose under hard braking. Good vid. Two thumbs up Hightech
Dont get me wrong the GTR is pure handling and speed, but you cant do donuts in it or powerslide!! both cars are Beautiful and PLEASE upload more of these kinds of videos PLEASE!!! :)
I think GTR is more for drifting and excels at it's lighter weight and acceleration power. But, on a straight take off, we should all know that the Z6 would kill the competition between them.
@daryws So when the C6R corvette beat Ferrari and BWW in their GT1 class of Le Mans, that was just a weird coincidence? BTW, you used the wrong "you're"(your).
I thought you wanted to stop commenting? Incase you didnt notice, the next model year of a car is an upgraded and changed version of the last years model. Therefore the car used is the current 2013 model that will be released when their 2013 models come out. So when the time does come out which I said before we will wait for it to come out we will see what happens. Thank you for re-assuring what I said in my original comment. I've actually got university tomorrow so I'll talk to you tomorrow man
Actually the stock 2013 GT-R went around the nurburgring at a supposed 7:16 while the 2012 c6 zr1 with optional competition tires and non-stock safety equipment went around in 7:19.. Don't hate the facts
the guy in the gtr pushed his car hard i might say since he spined out a lil in some corners the corvette in the other was really pushing it i would say they are both great cars and there both really fast but ITZ GODZILLA haha great driving from both
GTR looses ground in breaking zones and sharp turns. This is where heavier cars have a disadvantage, they cant be tossed around easily like a lighter platform will. Kudos to the z06 driver, no DCT/No awd/No torque vectoring and other gizmos to assist him and he still passes the GTR.
dude the gtr doesn't pull away on the straights you fool, he just enters the straight way sooner and is doing 130 while the vette is still doing 70 at the exit of the corner.
Technically speaking, GM has already settled its cash loan with the government. As of April 2010, GM had paid back the cash it was required to pay under the conditions of the TARP DEAL. The rest of the loan was paid in stock, which was 500 million shares. About $23.1 billion of the total has been "repaid or returned to the U.S. Treasury." That leaves GM's IOU to the Treasury at roughly $26.4 billion. I guess this is why the Feds are hanging on GM. They paid with stocks, valued $26 each.
its all about balance, they do different things better, the vette was better on the high speed corners, and the GTR was better on the the low speed corners.
Yes really. In every corner, the GTR would slide and lose control, the Z06 would make up ground. But leaving every corner, the GTR would be accelerating harder and put the space back between them.
would have liked to see a smoother line from the Z06... but lets put this in perspective.... he has a multi-thousand dollar supercar... and I drive a grocery-getter... yup.
This Z06 = Troy's Z06. Troy's Z06 = modded Z06 (based on the comments). And I was assuming the GTR was stock because no one, not you, nor anyone in this damn video, stated any specifications about the GTR. Aftermarket wings and stickers on a GTR could also mean the engine was completely stock. If you were there to witness the race and could enlighten us about both cars, then by all means, you have more credibility than any one posting in here. LOL!
I never heard a single fact about you're cars in the le mans championship , last time I Aston's were beating the C6.r's with no problem. Doubt it changed.
Seriously, how is it a stock GTR when it has a bat wing and sponsor stickers on the side of the car? The Z06 has no after market wing and no ceramic brakes??? Just nice tires!
And the question of whether the car is for sale yet or not is up why? It will be soon and when it is and it officially goes around the ring that is the time that will be put up. The fact that you called me a toolbag, a fanqueer and that I fail says that you're probably about 14 years old and haven't even driven a car before in your life let alone a high performance car like the vette or the gt-r. When chevy release the 2013 models we will see how they compare to this but until then, cest la vie
The cars are better in different ways plain and simple. The corvette is more difficult to handle but if you can it pays off and the GT-R is an easier car to handle because of the technology. So please just stop comparing two incredibly different cars when the factors are endless.
you sir are incorrect lol....z06 is my dream car you can get a low mileage z06 for half the cost of a zr1 and mod it to be more faster and still have money left over...most bang for the buck
really? if you look at the GTR engine it is better in every aspect than the corvette... including MPG. There are many factors that could contribute to the Z06 catching the GTR however making a blind statement like you did does not make you any less of a fanboy than ggdeibiza.....
Just to add on because I ran out of characters, I think the 350z and 370z were not very good cars and the skyline was one of the only good nissan cars. Also I am a huge chevy supporter but haven't liked the corvette since the 1960 model. I posted another comment explaining how both cars are good but for different reasons and simply the corvette is too raw for a normal driver without experience to handle where the gtr is great for off and on track driving. I really hope you dont reply wastingtime
Of course I wouldn't disagree that this modified Z06 from Troy (based on the comments) is faster than the stock GTR. And you have yet to prove to me how in fact the GTR couldn't "shake him" or the fact that the driver of the GTR was at the "limit" of the car. Were you there to record the throttle response, lateral G, and MPH of the GTR? Because you must KNOW the answer to that since you claim the car was on its limit. I swear, Chevy fanboys are worst than Nissan fanboys. THINK people THINK!
Calling me a dipshit only weakens your argument. Oh wait, I forgot you're not arguing. You're just bickering. What part of ASSUMING don't you understand? It's an assumed statement that leads to a conclusion. Unless the video description stated the owner of the GTR or a list of modifications, we can only safely ASSUME that GTR had a stock engine. So PROVE to me how, besides having a wing and sponsor stickers, the GTR is not "stock" with actual evidence from the owner or from the actual car.
It doesn't really work quiet like that. Lets say that traction for tires is around 100%. Now, if you accelerate, a percentage of that goes to accelerating, but when you come into a turn, it changes. Lets say you're in a turn, and its taking about 65%, which leaves you with 35% to accelerate with. When you have AWD, you add a tax on those front tires. Why do you think most professional racing is done RWD?
@CyberGTX09 How can you assume the GTR was stock dip shit, when you can clearly see the wing from miles. Also, a nearly 4000lb stock GTR would not be able to pull that hard on the straights from a modded Z06. It's not rocket science, genius!
Great stuff! Thanks for the vid HTC!
This is such a fun track to race on, everyone who lives in Texas should attend.
Great driving skill....hope 2 see more vids from u :D
It was on a car blog, there was no video taken and it hasnt been confirmed yet but Nissan had said that that was the laptime, had given an updated final straight-away speed and a speed increase through turns. I did say "supposedly" because it was never recorded on camera. There are rumours they are going to test the car again sometime in May officially but to my knowledge that was the only run by the 2013 model
look at that change of direction @ 3:42 .nice
It is in each and every aspect.
Great job! You're hot on his tail!! It's curious though how the GT-R is fast out of turns!
very cool video, fun to watch.
Hell yea, that was a great race! That GTR had some serious power.. What's Troy's z06 have done?
You'd think that the Vett would have the advantage under braking, the long apex corners, and through those quick transitions, but he doesn't seem to be able to gain much in those areas at all, and he's getting absolutely murdered accelerating out of the corners. You can see that the GT-R is is even out of shape in a couple corners, but doesn't even seem to matter, since it's so easy to recover from a slide with that thing. Lovely driving. What are the specs on these cars?
I just so happen to also have a GTR. I think it's funny when kids come on these pages and think they know everything there is to know about something they know nothing about. "DUDE, AWD cars NEVER spin wheels." Cracks me up.
I thought I was watching a video game there for a minute. lol
What software setup provides the information overlay? How are the Z06 gauges replicated?
i'm pretty sure i watched the whole thing, but i'm also pretty sure i never saw the Z06 spin out. am i missing something?
This is Troy's, yes.
even the wing couldnt help him from sliding all over the place not to mention all the freakin technology it has in it
this shits like a racing sumulator, rear view mirror, accelerometer, throttle, speed, rpm, its all there!
I really like both Z06's, GTR's (also the 94-96 Cobra Mustang and MK IV Supra's). As a technical solution and build quality the Nissan is second only to the Lexus LFA. The GT-R was like you can never have this; la la la la la. Then @ 4:00 is like: ok you can have it.
I think the corvette driver could have passed him sooner if he took a better line during cornering. My track experience has taught me to take a more straight line in the corners. There were a few where it seemed he was driving with them. but he did a real good job keeping that tail from getting loose under hard braking. Good vid. Two thumbs up Hightech
lol in some curves the GTR was drifting, and the Z06 was very stable, love this car
Dont get me wrong the GTR is pure handling and speed, but you cant do donuts in it or powerslide!! both cars are Beautiful and PLEASE upload more of these kinds of videos PLEASE!!! :)
It's always easier to make quicker lap times if you're behind the lead car - your driving is more aggressive, focused, and concentrated.
BTW, you used the wrong "you're"(your).

ya i saw that. nice driving by the GTR, though they came in pretty hot on many of the corners. AWD saved their ass more than a few times. ;)
Does anyone know what system this guy is using to overlay the vehicle spec onto the video?
Actually the stock 2013 GT-R went around the nurburgring at a supposed 7:16 while the 2012 c6 zr1 with optional competition tires and non-stock safety equipment went around in 7:19.. Don't hate the facts

i never said that they didnt, because i know they do. but when they do, theyre spinning 4 instead of 2 and many time theres less spin.
LOL! thought this was a video game after the first 15 seconds.
i want the gauge setup in my car to be like that !
thank you for proving my point. a 60mph difference would be pulling away. again thanks for proving my point.
Z06
dude the gtr doesn't pull away on the straights you fool, he just enters the straight way sooner and is doing 130 while the vette is still doing 70 at the exit of the corner.
i am quite curious as to how you know :P
(also yes it is me i made a new account for my new nexus 4)
how about weight?
agreed
stop bickering about who is faster please :(
they're both beautiful works of human engineering that will make us go plenty fast enough!!!!
I love both these cars, But for the fun factor i'd take the Z06 :)
He just barely lost traction soon after passing the GTR. Not a spin out by any means. nice driving by both GTR and Z06.
well actually i think it would be cut in half since you have twice the grip..
why doesnt he shift down?

wow at 3:47 it looks like someone had a nasty stack into the wall
its all about balance, they do different things better, the vette was better on the high speed corners, and the GTR was better on the the low speed corners.
GT-R ftw!
the driver of the vette can drive! takes some skill to drive the vette.....
few cars can pull out of the corners of a track with just 2rd gear, let alone only use 3rd and 4th for a straight!
That gtr is so fast out of the corners and I'm favor neither car more than the other. Both handle those corners great though.
Yes really.
In every corner, the GTR would slide and lose control, the Z06 would make up ground. But leaving every corner, the GTR would be accelerating harder and put the space back between them.
would have liked to see a smoother line from the Z06... but lets put this in perspective.... he has a multi-thousand dollar supercar... and I drive a grocery-getter... yup.

wierd thing is the gtr was faster on the straights and the z06 was as fast or faster than the gtr
Driver in the Vette was obviously a better driver. Could see the GT-R driver missing the apex on a few corners.
oooo i just checked your channel out. i understand now, sorry.
I never heard a single fact about you're cars in the le mans championship , last time I Aston's were beating the C6.r's with no problem. Doubt it changed.
damn thats scary he almost lost it twice sick vid tho
Seriously, how is it a stock GTR when it has a bat wing and sponsor stickers on the side of the car? The Z06 has no after market wing and no ceramic brakes??? Just nice tires!
then yeah, its not stock. Troy's z06 has like 700hp.
that GTR is fast!!!
that not a factory GTR,it got a rear wing, i can imagine what else!!!
the gears seems to long
i would be 2 seeing how bumpy that track was
Like if you like Z06's!
you need to feel the wisplash in your neck of the GTR.
And the question of whether the car is for sale yet or not is up why? It will be soon and when it is and it officially goes around the ring that is the time that will be put up. Your S13 could do better?
Tony Stewart has nothing to worry about...
no one really can.. not with the mentality of Muscle Vs. Imports
you sir are incorrect lol....z06 is my dream car you can get a low mileage z06 for half the cost of a zr1 and mod it to be more faster and still have money left over...most bang for the buck

z06 has a lighter engine that is much easier to modify yourself. dont hate
Nice cars; I would take the Z06 though. ^_~
in the end you all would have both
prob to safe some gas, he prob plans to be on the track as long as possible, but i honestly don't know beyond that.
Vette

I swear, Chevy fanboys are worst than Nissan fanboys. THINK people THINK!
not..you are under the ilusion of being closer at breaking but it's not real. That GTR pulls out of corners like a MF.
uh no.
GTR waved him by. And GTR's will go sideways, as will anything with power. Ask me how I know ;)
Calling me a dipshit only weakens your argument. Oh wait, I forgot you're not arguing. You're just bickering.

This guy is a good driver, however, a little afraid of the gas pedal.
