I have watched, a ridiculous amount of videos on this luggage and one thing i really like about your video, and reason im now a follower =), is i like how you are walking around with is on. This is the first video i have seen, where someone is actually wearing it and walking around. ( which is important to me, to see the aesthetic of the bag on the back, and just how it looks overrall while wearing it) This is the best review video on this luggage to date)
Yeah, a lot of the videos we've watched on bag reviews don't show bags being used. We wanted ours to be different because people ask how it rides when on the back and how it rolls. Glad our video could help you out! And thanks for following our journey! We still have our Sojourn bags and are taking them with us on our Skoolie as we travel just in case we need to use it because it is an awesome bag! Thanks again for watching @Yadira! - Brian + Erin
Brian and Erin. I sincerely appreciate the 2 honest reviews you've made regarding the Osprey Sojour. For years I've had the original Osprey Porter 46 (no wheels), which has served me very well. Unfortunately, due to minor but annoying joint issues I may be best served by switching to a wheeled bag. It's a great testimony that with all of your travels you've not needed the shoulder straps. So I have a couple of questions if you care to answer. If you had it to do over again would you still get the sojourn or another a bag with a backpack harness? You said you hadn't needed to use shoulder straps and sort of forced yourself for this video. Osprey makes other wheeled luggage without the backpack option like the transporter and ozone bags. I'm wondering if, given your experience, would get a wheels only model instead of the sojourn?
Hey @Kandyman736, you just made our day. Thanks for the lovely comment. We love hearing that you have enjoyed your Osprey Porter 46 for so long. Osprey is a stand-up brand, and they have really great bags. It sounds like a wheeled bag would be a solid switch for you. To answer your questions... I just asked Brian, and we both agreed that we would stick with the Osprey Sojourn because if you are ever in a pickle where you need to toss that bag on your back it is worth it. Like if a place is really crowded, I would convert my small leather backpack into a side bag, put my laptop in the Osprey, lock it up, pop the straps out, and go with the bag on my back. One last thing... The straps & handle for the bag take-up compartment space, but neither of us were too fussed about it. We have learned to pack as light as we can. Please let us know if you have any more questions. - Erin + Brian too
Because of how backpack straps are designed putting the chest trap lower would defeat the purpose, it reduces the feeling of weight when adjusted properly. I know this is three years late, but the Osprey chest straps slide up and down so you can put it where it works best for you. lol just got to that part of the video. I have 3 of their backpacks (daypack, school pack, and "backpacking" pack) and the chest strap really does help when wearing it a long time.
Totally makes sense that the chest strap would help! I hated wearing it. LOL Brian didn't mind. I felt like it was putting me in a strangle hold. Love how Osprey upgrades their bags in all of their designs. Super smart company!
Hey @woelno - Shoot I dunno... we just looked it up, and it appears to be unavailable. I dunno if they discontinued it. Looks like Osprey has an awful lot of other similar packs. The one I found that looks most like it with similar features is this one, but it doesn't looks like it's able to be a back pack: amzn.to/3HOveUZ It's probably a supply chain issue. It's all breaking down man... Anyways, I hope this helps. We rarely used the backpack, and preferred to wheel it around. They are incredible quality bags. So I would imagine this one is too. Let us know if you have other Q's for us. :)
@Tangchi Prathomo - That we aren't certain of. I looked up Daylite Travel and there were several different versions of them. I would see if you can get on a chat with Osprey on their website. They will tell you which ones pair together best.
There a a few videos that show the Daylite Plus attatching. You hook the Daylite strap buckle into one of the gear loops on the Sojourn, then hook the compression straps over the top of it.
I have the same pack…haha and I would really miss the sternum strap….I bought it the first year it came out…wish I knew what year that was but I don’t remember. Like you I use the wheels more often than as a backpack but it’s nice to know you can easily convert if you need too.
Hah that's cool @Mello Lev! Love that you have had it so long. This bag will honestly last a lifetime if you are good to it. So sturdy! So well made! How many countries you think you have taken it?
Hi, great videos and you guys are quite entertaining! I'm wondering how long it would take to switch from rolling to backpack/bp to rolling? Eg. if you were at the airport with intention to carry on but had to check it at last minute. I've never used a backpack and I've had back issues in the past. But planning a trip to Italy for 3 weeks and will be travelling by train, don't want to deal with a big suitcase on the train. Thanks!
Smucko1 great question & neither Erin or I had timed ourselves doing that yet. So I just got out my stop watch & timed myself. Here’s the results: Converting it from roller bag mode to back pack mode it took me 37 seconds. Converting it from backpack mode to roller bag mode it took 27 seconds. Now, this isn’t something I do frequently, so I imagine if I practiced a few times I could definitely reduce that time substantially. Sounds like you have a fun trip coming up! Will you be sharing the adventures on RUclips? - Brian (+ Erin Too)
@@BEAdventurePartners Thank you! It looked a bit confusing the first time I saw Erin do it on the video. ;) Will check out this backpack. Just concerned about space, I will want to shop in Italy! Sorry, probably won't be sharing adventures on RUclips! LOL

Hey guys. Great reviews. Thank you. I am obsessed with bags and 1 bag travel. I have a question- a lot of budget airlines only allow 1 bag. So how do you get away with having these bags as well as another bag with camera and techie gear? I am aiming to do full time travel without checking any bags in, so i have this issue. Would love your thoughts. Many thanks :) Great vids btw
Hey @Marcel Aguirre! Thanks for the lovely comment. It is certainly nice to travel light. So far we haven't run into any problems with the Osprey when we pack LIGHT and carry on another small bag. (My leather bag, and Brian's camera bag.) The flights we have carried them on have allowed a carry-on bag & personal bag. For us we need two bags to carry on our gear, and laptops. Having a just in case bag is essential for us, because if we were to pack all of our camera gear in the Osprey and they made us check the Osprey's that would be risking our gear getting lost in transit. (No a risk we are willing to take) Because you never know... All airports have different requirements for weight, and sometimes they make us check the bags even if they are packed light. So we pack the Osprey as light as we can, hoping to carry it on with our other small bag. BUT we always pack the Osprey to check it. Just in case they make us check it. We would never want anything expensive, or important to get checked. Hope that helps. Let us know if you have more questions. - Erin Ps...
