  • A dry but very windy day up Grisedale Pike from Whinlatter then round to Crag Hill via Coldale Hause and down from Sail and Stonycroft . We were suppose to do Whiteless Pike but decided it was to windy.

Just a question what's the National Park attitude to mountain bikers riding say on footpaths in the Lake District?

its a good question, the head of LDNP has said that the bridleway network in the park is not fit for purpose. But its really not up to them but the landowners, really the only area owned by Parks is Helvellyn its manged by the JMT, the fact that there are 9 bridalways that run of the ridge maybe tells you something.

@@mtbguides_Rich I thought so. Like you, locally when I do ride footpaths, if I meet walkers ect. I slow down, and stop if I have to. I've never had any problems. BTW as you know, It's only illegal to ride on footpaths at the side of roads under the traffic act.
