well done and documented! This same system of dressing also applies to what we call "standard" avatars, or "system" avatars. As you join Second life, you may visit free areas to get yourself accustomed to dressing before you commit to buying clothing. Just look for mesh items, try a few free items with alpha layers to hide your body, and you are well on your way!
This is an excellent tutorial. I especially like the recommendations to 'add' items of clothing rather than 'wear' them, using search to locate inworld stores rather than the Marketplace slurls, trying the demo before buying clothing, and how to use a HUD. I would have preferred that Second Life start with a beginner tutorial showing less costly alternatives to dressing. I estimate that the avatar body, clothing, and head would probably cost a newcomer over 10,000 Lindens. Still - 100% positive progress. I would also like to point out that Boston Blaisdale has a RUclips channel with a lot more excellent videos.
oh I like how you've done this, it is a good, clear, succinct explanation. I'm going to have to look for your other tutorials as I think they will be helpful. Thanks!
Another excellent helpful video, I do like this new project that I am sure really helps new avatars in this huge and sometimes confusing world, and these videos are great for those of us who like simple and useful guides.
There should be a section on how to check if your purchases are well made and suitable for use in a virtual world. Remember that unlike other virtual worlds, Second Life does not have avatar resource usage limitations, so the items you wear may very well be the cause of your poor PC performance.
Great video... I would like to request an SLU video that goes over the major female mesh bodies and then the heads. I've played with SL off and on over the years and this still confuses me a bit. Thank you!
I kinda wish sl Market was like Amazon in how easy it is to find exactly what you're looking for an items you didn't even know existed but turns out to be a must have
Good job, I am returning after many years & the new stuff is very confusing. I still have not found how to cover the "bare spots" when you wear new clothing. I have the Legacy Classic free edition.
I have a question: I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere. If so, do please link me to the video. I have yet to find a tutorial anywhere on youtube that explains what we are supposed to do if we change bodies in SL Ie. Jake to Gianni or Legacy, in order to keep our saved outfits without going through and manually re making each outfit for the new body. Does this make sense? If you have 100 plus saved outfits, and want to wear a different body, is there a way to change bodies in each saved outfit faster? Thanks :) Great outfit in the vid btw. Difficult to find trousers with tucked shirt and belt, at least for me. Belts have been rather pointless for me so far. :P Cheers.
Which is the best male mesh body now in sl. I am seeing newer brands not supporting signature Gianni now-a-days, while jake and legacy is getting the most support would love to hear and know your thoughts
Hey, I've produced a few mesh body tutorials for Legacy, Gianni and Maitreya. I personally wear Legacy the most because I appreciate the aesthetic and don't have any issues with clothing compatibility. However the Gianni body is very responsive and user-friendly. They each have their pros and cons and it should come down to your personal preference. I like the fact that not everybody wears the same body.
Not a bad video. I was curious to see how this is being explained to someone who is new and I think you've done a very solid job of covering the process. But you "promote" fat-packs when a new user should be encouraged to pick one color, as fat-packs are vastly more expensive than individual items. This should have been mentioned.

Great tutorial for new Second Life residents. I'm certain that they will find it to be helpful. 👍

The fact you got all that in 8 minutes or less is just fascinating to me! hehe
Haha thank you, I try and cut out all of the fluff 😊

Good idea, I think this should extend to other areas like landscaping, decorating, linking items to reduce prim usage among other things.
Awesome idea, thank you!💙
