The 80s was one of the best music decades and some of the best artists had their peak of popularity in this decade ✨. Which is your favorite artist from the 80s? We read you 👇
Quite a few of the artists listed as only honorable mentions has me wondering when you bumped your head! Tina Turner, REALLY?!😮 And these bands were integral in shaping the music of the 80s, and is still influential to this day. I guess you weren't there. 🙄🤦♀️
Michael had one of the greatest voices! His performance at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert promoted by Queen at Whembley stadium in England. Phil Collins was also a great drummer and singer, I am a drummer as well! I loved practicing drums off of Genesis albums such as the live " Seconds Out. " other Genesis albums such as ABACB. Phil Collins was always on the radio with his album and song " Against All Odds and Hello,,I Must Be Going were Grammy winners achieving Producer of The Year - Non Classical in 1985. Always really enjoyed the rockin John Bon Jovi and Bongovi with Ritchie Sanborn who is a great guitar player and started the new show " MTV's Unplugged " was a fantastic on air MTV program and started many segments with different bands! I loved the song " Bed of Roses " john Bonjovi wrote and performed. 😎❤️🤘🌹🌺
Funny how Freddie Mercury is mentioned more than once because of his memorial concert but he’s not on the list. You can’t say it’s because he started before the 80s because so did Michael and Prince… Freddie’s voice is legendary.
Freddie Mercury was the greatest singer, performer and songwriter in music history! Freddie was a personal friend of mine who called me his little sister. I met Queen during their first USA tour quite by accident and became best friends with the boys! I miss my dear big brother Freddie every day. His legacy will live on for generations to come!
Cyndi Laupers Album "She so unusual" was the first one I bought from my pocket money. I still love this album (I am 50 now) and some tracks of that album are still on my favourite playlists.
Michael Jackson marked all the decades he lived and he'll keep on marking next decades and generations, IMHO. He really was too unique and talented ❤️💔🙏❤️
Greetings from Costa Rica. Madonna, I'm so happy to see Madonna at number 2. She has earned it. Madonna was smart enough not to fall into drug temptation. That's the reason, she continued to add more successful hits and events around the world. ❤❤❤ . Long live The Queen!!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉As one great song says" Nothing compares to you," I personally dedicade the title of this wonderful title to Madonna.
The greatest artists of all time are Freddie Mercury/Queen and Steve Perry/Journey! Both Freddie Mercury and Steve Perry are the greatest singers, performers, musicians, and songwriters of all time!! Their legacies will live on until the end of days.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
No Culture Club? Seriously? They Had 2 Mega Albums With Massive Hits! They Were The Hottest Band In The Early 80's! Not To Mention Boy George Became A Icon!
When I moved a few years ago to where Aunt Susan is staying, women fight with me and I couldn't understand why or what's going on. 👉 Then later I realized it is the song, Call me, sang by Blondie.😡 I am not a Call girl and everyone knows that.
Vocally Whitney Houston is definitely the best and most versatile. I would list them this way and replace several of them by better singers. *1) Whitney Houston* 2) Aretha Franklin. 3) George Michael 4) Freddie Mercury 5) Celine Dion 6) Prince 7) Stevie Wonder 8) Guns 'N Roses 9) Bruce Sprinsteen 10) Michael Jackson
My list is accdg to the number of US billboard number one songs of 80s artists 1.Michael Jackson- 10 number one songs 2.Madonna-7 number ones 3.Whitney Houston-7 number ones 4.George Michael-7 number ones 5.Phil Collins-6 number ones 6. Janet Jackson -5 number ones 7.Prince-4 number ones 8. Bon Jovi 4 number ones 9. Huey Lewis- 3 number ones 10.Billy Ocean-3 number ones Paula Abdul had 4 number ones but her songs, for me are forgettable. But since Madonna was the one to become artist of the century (80s), she's the real number one in my list.
Madonna should not be listed on any 80's list as a "best singer". Prolific entertainer for sure. Marketing phenom. Absolutely. Excellent businesswoman. No doubt. She is the prototype for the Taylor Swift pop diva, but there are so many betters singers from the 80's than Madonna.
Stop lying, Clive Davis didn't discover Whitney Houston, it was Gerry Griffith an A&R representative of ARISTA. Clive was heavily invested in Phyllis Hyman and could care less about Whitney. It was Jermaine Jackson who believed in Whitney's talents and produced her first album. After the success of Whitney's first album and the dropping of Phyllis Hyman that's when Clive Davis👹jumped on board in support of Whitney Houston.
@nmvs1981 EXACTLY!!!! Clive was very opposed of Phyllis going jazz especially since she had a dance hit " You know how to love me" and wanted her to continue down that road but Phyllis gave much push back / did Broadway(jazz) eventually there's a parting of ways. After her departure then Clive took interest in Whitney but he only piggyback off of what Jermaine Jackson already knew what they had.
Madonna??? And to add more insults to the very good singers in the 80s who are not mentioned, the list put her Number 2! Well, this list is bullocks because Madonna’s name in the list should never be there. She is not a real singer, she is a lip syncer!
You cannot contain the best singers in the 80s to just a top 10. If you did this you shuld have categorized them as Top 10 male, Female and band lead singers. Tina just honorable mention? Made me laugh!!! Modern talking as honorable mention? made me laugh again. They shouldn't even be a mention.

MJ ❤ 4ever

Agree
I love all music, but the 70s remind of high school and the 80s was my partying days
@susanmcshane476 I'm the same with the 80s and 90s. But I remember some of the 70s, even though I was really little. ❤️
George Michael’s voice was absolutely beautiful. He had power and range combined with a silkiness and buttery texture to it❤
I could hear a sadness in his voice as he sang I related to that 😢😮😊
I like to know how Steve Perry became an honorable mention that man is recognized as one of the most wonderful singers in the world
Because Worldicons is a joke. Pure and simple. 😂
George Michael ❤

Cyndi's voice is simply AMAZING!!!!!!!!
Funny how Freddie Mercury is mentioned more than once because of his memorial concert but he’s not on the list. You can’t say it’s because he started before the 80s because so did Michael and Prince… Freddie’s voice is legendary.
And no mention of the late great David Bowie
Freddie Mercury was the greatest singer, performer and songwriter in music history!
Freddie was a personal friend of mine who called me his little sister. I met Queen during their first USA tour quite by accident and became best friends with the boys! I miss my dear big brother Freddie every day.

..yez... no doubt...
..michael jackson is no. 1....until now he's still....
The king 🤴 MJ
Phil Collins. Both solo and with Genesis. Great live preformer.
Putting George Michael at 10 really set this list up for failure. He's likely top 3 and agruably #1 as a vocalist.
Phill Collins is great, drums and singing
Greetings from Costa Rica. Madonna, I'm so happy to see Madonna at number 2. She has earned it. Madonna was smart enough not to fall into drug temptation. George Michael - number 1.
If you would do The 20 best singers, I would like Ronald Isley, Teddy Pendergrass, Toni Braxton, Minnie Riperton, BabyFace etc.
MICHAEL JACKSON 👑🎤🎙🎼🖤 #1 King of POP🖤
Love u
of course, Michael...
Tina Turner is just an Honorable Mention that's crazy i would have put her top 5 at least and WHERE is Janet Jackson?
May be because his reason is that Janet Jackson just started to make number one songs in the beginning of 90s
I miss watching MTV 😂mindless tv viewing
Prince for sure 🤩🤩
His father is a hairdresser no wonder his hair is always great
a-ha just an honourable mention?!? Wow top 3 atleast
Goodness!! I can't disagree with any of your picks! Lol
Good!
I agree with the picks Michael Jackson number 1,2-Madonna ,3-Whitney Houston.Tina Turner,Janet Jackson and Queen should of been added.
Cindi Lauper did rock the eighties as Time After Time,Girls Just Want to have fun we're awesome songs.
I would of put at number 1-Madonna,2-Michael Jackson,3-Whitney Houston,4-Queen,5-Bon Jovi
@@AustinCohen-j8v Madonna #1 what a joke.
Madonna-GOAT!
I got the single " Like a prayer" for my daughter. It gave off the smell of insense when played. 😂😊
Twenty seconds in and I am done. Might as well Jump!
Phil collins was everywhere in the 80s should have been at least #3 but i forgot he never gets credit for anything.
+++🎵🎸🎵🎸+++YES 1980"S+++🎶🎤🎺+++IT WAS A GOOD TIME+++I 🐸+++❓❓❓+++I🐸 WAS KEEN ON 1987+++ROCK ON+++🥁🎸🪕+++
No Culture Club? Seriously? They Had 2 Mega Albums With Massive Hits! They Were The Hottest Band In The Early 80's! Not To Mention Boy George Became A Icon!
Prince, Billy Idol, David Lee Roth.
On the romantic side SADE.
ΟΝΕ ΑΝD ONLY Mr ❤️❤️❤️ GEORGIOS KYRIAKOS PANAGIOTOY AKA GEORGE MICHAEL ❤️❤️❤️
Freddie Mercury should have been top on this list.
Madonna is the Greatest of all !!!
No way is Madonna #1 give a break she can hardly sing...
Bitch......She's Madonna !!!
When I moved a few years ago to where Aunt Susan is staying, women fight with me and I couldn't understand why or what's going on. 👉 Then later I realized it is the song, Call me, sang by Blondie.😡 I am not a Call girl and everyone knows that.
Mi hermano 🫶💪

*1) Whitney Houston*
2) Aretha Franklin.
3) George Michael
4) Freddie Mercury
5) Celine Dion
6) Prince
7) Stevie Wonder
8) Guns 'N Roses
9) Bruce Sprinsteen
10) Michael Jackson
My list is accdg to the number of US billboard number one songs of 80s artists
1.Michael Jackson- 10 number one songs
2.Madonna-7 number ones
3.Whitney Houston-7 number ones
4.George Michael-7 number ones

6. Janet Jackson -5 number ones

Paula Abdul had 4 number ones but her songs, for me are forgettable.
But since Madonna was the one to become artist of the century (80s), she's the real number one in my list.
You're missing two of the greatest singers Geoff Tate and Bruce Dickinson they blow away half these singers and they still sound great today
yep
This list is a personal opinion, nothing more. 😂
Pat benatar
5. Lionel Richie
4. Chrissie Hynde (Pretenders)
3. George Strait
2. Whitney Houston
1. MJ
Michael Jackson wins and it’s not even close

So her 1983 TV debut performance was more of a Clive Davis telling Gerry Griggith to "fuck off" and Phyllis Hyman to be less "jazz"?
@nmvs1981 EXACTLY!!!! Clive was very opposed of Phyllis going jazz especially since she had a dance hit " You know how to love me" and wanted her to continue down that road but Phyllis gave much push back / did Broadway(jazz) eventually there's a parting of ways. No Queen?
Madonna Above Whitney?
No one can dispute the number ONE.
We were the shit
How you pick this top 10. I'll never know. You did well. On a impossible task. Anything less than top 50. Impossible.
It don't matter if your black or white... It mattered to Michael
Sorry Steve Perry and Freddy should be at the top of this list.
George Michael should be no 3 not 10
depeche mode, the cure, U2,tears for fears, duran duran, the smiths, new order, billy idol
Why do you people confuse ROCK with Rock'nroll? Do you know nothing about music ?
I’m sorry but JANET should of been on this list instead of Lauper! JANET ROCKED THE 80’s as well!!!!
I think Whitney should be 2nd , not Madonna
how
Prince was sued by his father for stealing his music, Purple Rain was one, it doesn't take away from his mediocrity in talent
Madonna??? And to add more insults to the very good singers in the 80s who are not mentioned, the list put her Number 2! Well, this list is bullocks because Madonna’s name in the list should never be there. She is not a real singer, she is a lip syncer!
