    Why in the world would you make a safe with so many access options.

      We're a smart home company that's in the security and safety space with products like Wyze Home Monitoring and Wyze Lock out today. We're not just a cam company, though cams are still super important to us. :)
      Our designers and product manager for this product are huge fans of LockPickingLawyer! We used his videos to help guide us, and we've also hired third-party penetration testers to take a look during the design process as well. We welcome LPL's thoughts and will keep an eye out if he does any coverage!

    I stopped trusting Wyze when they took away the 12-second event recording from the cams. Wyze has downgraded my cameras. Why? Wyze is trying to force people into a subscription model to "save the company". If a company is on that much shaky ground, do you really want to keep investing in their products? Will they still be around years from now?

    • @BonesDT
      @BonesDT 2 года назад +1

      And how is this different from any other company? Just put SD-Cards in ur cams. Days of 24/7 recording for no subscription.

    • @kristfur
      @kristfur 2 года назад +4

      All I want is the devices as promised when I purchased them. I have an SD in the cameras, that's not the problem. Wyze took away the 12-second event viewing and replaced it with a thumbnail, which is 100% useless. Cams without subscriptions exist, ie Eufy. They cost more, but the quality is exponentially higher, and no nickel & dime subscriptions. Chances are those companies will be around much longer than a hanging-by-a-thread Chinese electronic junk company.

    • @DS..69

    • @t3chninja_official
      @t3chninja_official 2 года назад

      So you don't want to help keep them in business to support the Wyze products you purchased? I mean really the benefits outweigh the cost. It's so cheap to get all the features. Stop being a cheap-ass and support Wyze so they can develop more cool gadgets and tools! You have zero clue how much development cost and yet your like when is feature xyz coming? Blah, blah, blah has it, just give it to us already. Then Wyze says hey this development cost lots of money, to help support it we are starting a program to help pay for development of new features. Then you go no....give me all the features anyway, I don't care if you can't pay for all the servers, bandwidth, internet, salaries, overhead, buildings space, computers and on and on...just give me the features all for free. If you're that unhappy with your Wyze cameras then sell them and go buy something else, then bitch about their features. At the end of the day a company has to be able to pay the bills or they cease to exist and then so does our product support.

    • @jimmyr4960
      @jimmyr4960 2 года назад +1

      Cool idea if there is no guns in the house or only using that style (Wyze) safe for the “phone jail.” There’s only 3 major drawbacks that come to mind. 1-There are apps that can completely shut down your kids connection to WiFi/monitor usage then restrict access, the list goes on and on with what those apps can do in regards to control over said device. (Also at a fraction of the price of a gun save. 2. Any modern WiFi router gives you control over how it is dispersed, you can name the device -Sons tablet- then go in and shut it down with the click of a button. This option is also free, since you already have the router. 3. A cabinet with a lock can do everything in regards to a “phone jail” and costs the price of a lock and some parenting.
      However I do like the idea.

    • @loki_x
      @loki_x 2 года назад +2

      @@jimmyr4960 You're right... 1. The challenge though with these apps is the parent has to manage another thing and kids these days seem always figure a way around it. Kids having the ability to hold onto their phone seems to have it's own challenges and temptation. Ability to put into a box symbolizes quarantine.. maybe not? 2. I've done this before only to find out the kid figured out how to connect to neighbour's (friend) wifi :) 3. This is probably the best alternative, accept for the footprint of a cabinet and well...I'll admit the loss in symbolic factor of an auto-open and closing device when quarantine time is over :)

    • @jimmyr4960
      @jimmyr4960 2 года назад +1

      @@loki_x I couldn’t agree more. The apps are a pain to deal with as well as the kids asking “can I have more time/can I download this my phone won’t let me.” 😑😵‍💫 Given it some more thought even when I throttle down or even disable the WiFi altogether it just leads to more questions about the original problem… the phone… soo maybe watching *their* phone be put into a level 5 super max “phone jail” would be a great idea. At the very least the question of where my phone would be taken out of the picture. As well as what you picked up on, the satisfaction of the automated door. Thank you for the different outlook. look man, everything gets torn apart by the @lockpickinglawyer. They're not trying to acheive US Fort Knox level defence here. This is meant to keep your gun by your bed, and your kids away from accessing it. It's not even going to stop someone breaking into your house from stealing it. Which too that point, put an Apple Air Tag in this for good measure.

      No just LPL, probably everyone. I thought some of their other products were ridiculous, but this was probably the last thing Wyze needed to get into… If I’m going to replace my gun safe, I’m goin to replace it with a reputable lock/safe company. And not one that’s connected to the internet…

    The other problem with the wireless aspect of this for about $10 you can get a device to block wireless signals which is an illegal device to use but it only cost 10 bucks so the people who know what they're doing just flip that f****** thing on your phone would not be able to make phone calls your other wireless devices would not be able to communicate with each other and your phone will not be able to open that box

    • @Kittamaru
      @Kittamaru 2 года назад

      Depends on what specifically it is blocking. Most jammers cover cellular and/or wifi - as he stated, this can communicate directly with your phone via Bluetooth. Or, you could use the key, pin, or fingerprint to open it. A jammer is hardly going to brick this.

    Um. This seems a bit off-brand for Wyze. A simple home safe documents and whatever, but a legit gun safe? I mean, I guess it's better than leaving them unprotected if you are going to own them, but this seems like an odd product. And I would have DEFINITELY put the PIN code protection on the Gun Safe in the app and NOT the whole app.

    The problem w/ Wyze products is how and where data is stored. Can you really trust Chinese servers or government-backed companies like AWS?
    Wyze is leveraging your data in the same way it has in all of its products.
    Now they want to verify gun ownership. The account is linked to you, using a Wyze Gun safe. Now they know you own a gun and can sell that data to 3rd parties or worse.

    The multiple fingerprints is a good idea except and this is the big problem you got to use the phone app to do that I'm sorry if you're a little old lady that's not up on technology or a little old man not up on technology or you don't want to be up on technology you want to have the same share feature between you and maybe your daughter or son that's you know like 20 or 30 or something most older people do not use or don't want to use a high in cell phone I'm not saying all there's a good number of them that just they want a phone to make a phone call nothing more so to have to use the app to put in multiple fingerprints is stupid it's more or less a convenience than it is actual practicality you would think there would be a button system or something on the inside of the device to tell the device you're adding another fingerprint not with the app that is beyond stupid cuz let's say somebody steals your phone let's say somebody destroys your phone let's say you lost your way of getting back into the app let's say you had that Safelite key on your keychain so your phone was stolen got crush destroyed or whatever they did with it your keys were taken as well so you couldn't whatever because they didn't want you to have your keys they may not have a purpose for the key so they threw them in some random trash somewhere which you'll never see again your phone's been destroyed reset whatever happened with it or your keys and your phone are in the living room you're the bedroom when something happens and whether or not you've been doing something like maybe waxing your hands or yeah just something to smudge your fingerprints for one and you're so frazzled from somebody breaking your house your your brain just goes numb on the passcode where your phone would recognize your face to get you in most likely so you can click whatever button to open the box and I'm going crazy scenario here I just know I am but I'm sitting here going you know having the extra fingerprints is great you have your left hand your right hand different fingers or your daughter son if they should be watching her house while you're gone maybe taking care of the dog in the plants something happens your phone's with you your keys are most likely with you or short someplace safely your daughter or whatever knows that gun safe there but for life in them they can't remember whatever the pin number is and since they hardly ever use it they've gone blank on the fingerprint to the Chinese figure this figure this finger hoping did I get it programmed in there did we do it you know can I you know as well while something's going on in the other room they're really worried something's going to happen there are so many ways I can see this not working but to sit there and require the phone in order to add a fingerprint it's crazy if it was either something on the inside of the device or your phone that would have made more sense I mean what if you recently changed the pin number but you didn't tell them you changed the pin number and for some reason their fingerprints not working that phone app isn't going to do them any good ones with you somewhere else I know I'm going out of weird tangent but I think somebody kind of gets what I'm saying here is like the phone app is stupid it's just utterly stupid for this part

    I have a few concerns about this safe one has USB port the idea is great but does it only go to the battery or could a hacker plug in and reprogram from that position too putting something wireless on here can make it more hackable seriously you have you heard of brute Force attacks I mean there's the key part great the number pad great but I probably would have put nine numbers up there instead of what four six you got there fingerprint great to a limit I would almost say I would prefer a two fingerprint system there there's a couple ways I would have made this thing a little more safer I would love to test this thing out but there's a few different ways I can see that this thing is vulnerable you guys are trying to make it sound like you work for law enforcement blah blah blah whatever it is but I want to give this to a hacker probably a team of nine hackers from different hacking capabilities and I like to see if any of them can get around what you got there I don't think it's a good idea to make things connectable to a phone I think that is a bad idea now the phone app in order to give you your instructions wonderful then you don't have to print anything that makes a lot of sense the double a batteries good cuz I know they're going to be on the inside of the unit USB port so so depending on how it's being utilized internally if the USB port does nothing but electricity I think you can be okay but if that is anyway remotely connected to the wireless aspect or anything else in there disregards to the security of the device it's hackable

    • @Kittamaru

      Regarding the USB-C port - I would like to believe that Wyze was smart enough to only include the power taps for the plug, and not the data connections (much like a charge-only USB cable for charging your phone at a public charger).
      As for the fingerprint reader - hopefully it is a quality reader with sufficient resolution/capability to ensure a "lifted" print cannot be used (an issue early print readers had).
      As for phone security and the physical safe itself - as with anything, physical security is paramount. If a skilled individual can gain access to a device, I don't care how secure it is, they most likely will eventually break into it, be it a server, phone, safe, or car. While I doubt that this thing could stand up to a torch or even a decent cutting disc, if someone has the time to do that uninterrupted, then there's a bigger issue at hand.
      Regarding the physical lock - I would love to see @lockpickinglawyer have a go at this; hopefully it is better than a generic Master lock padlock, but only an attempt to pick it will likely tell us the whole story there. Major points to Wyze if the cylinder is able to be replaced/rekeyed without major hassle.
