Love how you’re slowing revealing yourself- your face, your challenges, your other interests, your sense of humor, your creativity. Taking risks, and being authentic, wonderful to watch. 😊
My dad has one of these in his basement I think I’m going to resto-mod it as well and make it Bluetooth with modern guts but keep the exterior completely period correct
I loved your restoration of this piece of furniture. I also appreciate your willingness to share your experience with therapy and mental health. It’s something that we should all be interested in and never take for granted. My heart sings when I see a new video from you landing on RUclips!
Perhaps my favorite video you've done! The opening re-enactment, closing and wit were highly entertaining. The guitar playing (who knew?) took me back to college days in the early 70s at the UofM, as well as time in Berkeley, just hanging out with friends playing (or trying to play) guitar. Very trippy, time travel sound. Oh, and the refurbished piece turned out remarkably nice with your modifications. Was a time when you only did VO. You've become very comfortable on camera. Thanks for sharing your many talents! 😊
Absolutely loving the evolution of Dashner Design, Restoration and Garage Band! Rock on, Dashnurd and Applesauce! Would love to see a "Dashnurd" mug with Applesauce wearing a beanie! 😄
My husband has 4 antique radios, 3 from our families and one from Goodwill. I have forbidden him to get more😊 He is also a carpenter and specializes in cabinetry. We always enjoy your channel...your acting is top-notch 😊
I love the remix❤❤❤❤ . I appauld you for speaking up about your struggles and having the courage to step out of your comfort zone. Great job as always 🎉❤❤❤❤😊
Mr. Dashner, incredible the change of this Cabinet! In fact, I thought : Gosh No! and, Why ?it locked so worn down to me. But then again, you always manage to make a Pearl out of the pieces you take on! I have no knowledge of electric wiring and so forth but watching you doing this 'welding-wiring-together-Stuff' was fascinating! Your 'new' Yup, Loudspeaker looks Superb! and loved to get a sample of your music ! why not making it your backdrop music always?
It looks fantastic! Well done! With your comment about leaving out the electronics stuff in this video, I feel like it'd be fine to include it, even if it's an abridged compared with the video on your other channel. I like your content, and your special interests are add to the content. I'm not a guitar person, and I don't restore furniture, but I love your skills and attention to detail. FYI, your new narration style, where you explain your thought process in the moment is really good.
Great project. I have a number of old radios and just the cabinets. As an engineer I am well acquainted with the electronics. But, I don't like to mess with the high voltages in the old tube sets. So, I usually re-purpose the cabinets. I have a 1933 Philco Model 60 (the cathedral style). I put a Raspberry PI in it. I replaced the dial with one that shows the years 1938 to 1945 (the war years). I added a bunch of .mp3 files of old radio shows (from the Internet Archive). Now, when you “tune” to a year, it plays a radio show from that year. A long way to get to my point. I have the tuning knob and an on/off volume control. And two extra holes. I love seeing your ideas for dealing with extraneous holes and fittings. I also like your RUclips style.
I inherited a 1937 Philco shortwave radio that belonged to my Grandpa. He originally purchased it to listen to the BBC news broadcasts of the Spanish Civil war. All of the electronics and tuning still work and it receives local and international broadcasts. But....the cabinet is showing its age. You have inspired me to make an effort to restore its cosmetics and appearance. Appreciated your video.
I had a cabinet similar to yours , which also had no radio in it. The front was much the same only more open. So I refinished it and made an aquarium tank to fit inside .
I really like the new "style" of your videos, it's great to see you when you talk about the project. Keep up the good work, been a fan for a long time.
Listen, I’m not saying you have a future in comedy, but I am saying I had to hit the like button 22 seconds into the video and replay the dramatic reenactment. 😂😂😂😂😂
That thing's beautiful! I have a early '60s Magnavox Micromatic that I got for free. It was gutted and beat up and not worth much of anything even in good shape, so I decided to not bother trying to restore it and just have some fun with it. I used strips of maple to build a rear panel (it was just a crudely cut piece of luan) to match the style of the front with stainless steel louvered vents from an inboard boat to mirror the speaker sections on the front. Put taller legs on it (originals were variously cracked), repaired and reinforced the damaged bottom where the legs mounted, new white speaker cloth to contrast the new cabinet color, new speakers, new bluetooth receiver, hidden RF receiver for a remote, and painted the cabinet in a light blue to match the decor. It was fun to make and everyone notices it and seems to love it.
We have an old Philco radio that is made for a table top…you’ve inspired me to remove the guts, and make it a Bluetooth speaker for my cell phone! Thank you, and rest assured when someone asks, I’ll let them know this is where I got the idea from. Very cool. Thanks again
To dark horses. Your pace and modesty is just great . Thank you. I recall wondering who you are or where. Now the mask reveals a greater man. Thank you
It s very admirable for many of the restoration channels to be promoting better health. Way to get the word out 👍🏼 You are so clever and funny with your opening segment and the ending with the credits 😂😂😂 Really enjoy your channel. Thanks for the education and humor ❤️🇺🇸👍🏼
Your channel has it all: careful work, creative repurposing, gripping reenactments and original music. (There were quite the estate sales on that property last year; SO many radios! Not surprised to see some freebies in the driveway.)
Very well done. Anytime someone saves an old piece of furniture is fine with me. No matter how it's used. And, your guitar playing is good too. I wanted to learn a musical instrument went I was 8 years old. My parents bought me an accordian. BOO!
Great video! I cannot get over how much better your videos have become from when i first started watching! Who knew you were so freaking hilarious! Keep 'em coming!
Not being a guitarist I would never have thought to repurpose this the way you did. But I love that you made it personal to you while keeping close to the original furniture piece. And as always beautiful work!
i have this exact radio complete. i found in the trash and restored it to fully working. added an input for an mp3 player. refinished in lacquer, new grill cloth and new phenolic dial and decals. sounds great.
Who knew Mr. Dashner was not only handsome, but talented. (and a bit of a ham) ; ) Always look forward to your videos, the wood always looks so beautiful when you are finished.
Awesome job. Back in the 90's I used to find old cabinets like this, I would either turn them into open cabinets with leather tops or a few times I inserted some modern digital radios and tuners. I did make one in 2012 where I transformed the radio part into an ipod dock complete with a CD player.
I did a 1939 Philco found in a flea market. A filthy disgusting floor model with the guts, knobs and speaker intact. I stripped out the radio chassis completely and hand built a Fender Princeton Clone amp into it. This is a 15 watt output design. The cabinet was stripped and refinished. The original combo on-off tone pot and the original volume pot are used. The speaker is a custom Weber 12 inch, 30 watt, 8 ohm that rattles the windows when cranked. I have a Sony stereo AM FM with CD player plugged into one of the 2 input jacks and I refer to this Frankenstein creation as my magic Jukebox.
The darkening of the trim was a really good move. It makes it look more aged and closer to what you normally think of as walnut. Im not sure how much space you still have in that box, or how the electronics for guitar things work, but maybe you could add an effect board or two and have them controlled by dials for those two spare holes instead of a pedal.
Love this project. & Excited for the second video with detailed explanations for the inner workings. Even if you claim no expertise, your way of explaining things/method very approachable and inspiring. You muse, you!
just a tip: there is decal setter that you can get, same as what plastic model makers use and it will set the decal and dissolve the clear part leaving just the paint part. nice refinish
This was totally rock ‘n’ roll! Great work, as always! It looks fantastic and is a novel way to reuse such a fabulously styled piece of history. The musical outro should be a feature of all future videos 😂
I have an old radio similar to yours. It was my grandfather's and I know it did work. As a small child I remember it being in his bedroom and it worked. This would have been in the late 1950's.. Now, it does not work although all the workings are in it. It is pretty scratched up and a little dinged up, but could be restored. I doubt I ever do that. It will remain in my home until... Forgot to say the brand name is "Truetone".
I love every bit of this! Amazingly well done furniture restoration (and I have a giant soft spot for these old radios), and a great repurposing use. I think you absolutely made the right choice with the speaker fabric - the tear is perfectly suitable "character" for something of this age. Well done, thanks!!
Omg what a FANTASTIC idea! I've seen a few of these empty radio cases come up on marketplace and think that while they're beautiful, I have no idea what they could be turned into! I hope this catches on ❤ This was a great video and I love your dramatic reenactment beginning and new closing theme song 😁👍
Love how you’re slowing revealing yourself- your face, your challenges, your other interests, your sense of humor, your creativity. Taking risks, and being authentic, wonderful to watch. 😊
The “dramatic” reenactment was outstanding - and hilarious. Your videos are quite enjoyable.
Thank you!
Dashner getting better with his filmmaking every episode
@@Brattoes I think I spotted him at the Academy Awards recently, hobnobbing with Scorsese.
That was cute.
The reenactment of your find. 😂 Love how it turned out, and how you chose to transform the piece. Very cool use of someone else's garbage.
Loved how you're leaning more into the humor side. That remix at the end was great!
The “dramatic reenactment “ was hilarious. Beautiful design and execution to repurpose such beautiful furniture. Really enjoyed the rap and credits.❤
My dad has one of these in his basement I think I’m going to resto-mod it as well and make it Bluetooth with modern guts but keep the exterior completely period correct
Mr Dashner is so exquisitely talented and handsome, I admire his sensitivity to vintage furniture.
Nice work. Thanks for keeping it out of the landfill and preserving a little bit history.

you are a destroyer of fun
Love the finale
I love the remix❤❤❤❤ . I appauld you for speaking up about your struggles and having the courage to step out of your comfort zone. Great job as always 🎉❤❤❤❤😊
OMG!! I'm STILL laughing!! Great video and again, beautiful restoration. Cool to hear you playing guitar!

i LOVE YOUR "OUT OF THE BOX" IMAGINATION AND CREATIVITY !!! good job dashner!!!!!!!
I loved watching your video. My grandfather used to sell Philco radios and tv's. It brings back great memories. Thanks.

This is such a cool piece. Your dramatic reenactment and your credits are priceless! 😂
Excellent! Also, the sponsor topic is appreciated. The importance of mental wellness, and the value of music to that end cannot be overstated
What an amazing movie ❤️❤️❤️
this is such a cool idea!

I really like the new "style" of your videos, it's great to see you when you talk about the project. Keep up the good work, been a fan for a long time.
You made my day twice. Posted a new video, then informed me you had another channel. I will be binging on that tomorrow.
Beautiful piece! Great restoration. Patina is a good thing! Always enjoy the return of DASHnürd!
Glad I stayed til the end!
Me too!
That looks great!!
Greatest outro.
Listen, I’m not saying you have a future in comedy, but I am saying I had to hit the like button 22 seconds into the video and replay the dramatic reenactment. 😂😂😂😂😂
You are so screaming funny!! Loved the video!! What a great find!! This repurpose is brilliant!!
Love the way you repurpose things!
That was awesome. 😊👍👍
Very cool idea👍 great work mate 💪🏻
Thank you!
Great to see you back after the bleak midwinter. Dashner + guitar content, nonetheless!!!
I've been watching your vids since covid times. You are a multi talented guy! So many hats. Love this project!
Thanks for watching!

I’ve been subscribed for a couple years. Is this your first paid partnership? If so good for you!
We have an old Philco radio that is made for a table top…you’ve inspired me to remove the guts, and make it a Bluetooth speaker for my cell phone! Thank you, and rest assured when someone asks, I’ll let them know this is where I got the idea from. Very cool. Thanks again
I love that BetterHelp is your sponsor! Great help for a lot of folks. LOVED the reenactment! lol
And the music continues on! What a beautiful cabinet and great restoration! Funny video 😂
Wonderful video and conversion! Love all things guitar and old radios! Best to you man!
Great Project, well done! I like the creativity.
Thank you!
To dark horses. Your pace and modesty is just great . Thank you. I recall wondering who you are or where. Now the mask reveals a greater man. Thank you

Great reuse of that old cabinet!
Excellent re-purposing.
Very well done. Anytime someone saves an old piece of furniture is fine with me. No matter how it's used. And, your guitar playing is good too. I wanted to learn a musical instrument went I was 8 years old. My parents bought me an accordian. BOO!
I love your videos, you were/are the inspiration for me restoring old furniture, dressers, end tables, thank you for the great videos.

You're always creative despite what you say.. the mark of a true craftsman
What a cool idea!
I'm so glad you're back! I missed watching your videos.
I loved every second of this
Fantastic creative use of that cabinet, and it looks great too!
Fun & a solid refinish!
what a sweet amp, great transformation
i have this exact radio complete. i found in the trash and restored it to fully working. added an input for an mp3 player. refinished in lacquer, new grill cloth and new phenolic dial and decals. sounds great.
Great resto. This was one of your more entertaining videos, but it still contained all the necessary info. Can't wait for the next episode.
I love watching people doing what they love to do, beautifully done !
Now that is a cool guitar amp.
Wow, great job. My first thought would have been to make it a Bluetooth speaker but the amp sounds great
Brilliant! This is an enjoyable watch, and your song is again stuck in my head. Well done. 🎸🥇🍻
Thank you!
Beautiful
Dash that was amazing. Looks awesome. Music sounds like Sparks.
Who knew Mr. Dashner was not only handsome, but talented. (and a bit of a ham) ; ) Always look forward to your videos, the wood always looks so beautiful when you are finished.
I demand more dramatic reenactments!😂😂😂 Such a cool curbside flip! How did you learn all your woodworking/refinishing skills/knowledge? 💜
I learned mostly by trial and error. I made a lot of mistakes along the way but learned a lot.
Awesome job. Back in the 90's I used to find old cabinets like this, I would either turn them into open cabinets with leather tops or a few times I inserted some modern digital radios and tuners. I did make one in 2012 where I transformed the radio part into an ipod dock complete with a CD player.
This is a neat project.
You Finally Did it! Years ago i asked if you could lol 😂

I remember listening to Bing Crosby 78 rpm records on my grandmother’s Philco radio/turntable combo. Classic!
The reenactment and the credits scene at the end were only eclipsed by that banger of a song.
Fabulous job! Excellent idea! Now I want to make one!!
Love this project. & Excited for the second video with detailed explanations for the inner workings. Even if you claim no expertise, your way of explaining things/method very approachable and inspiring. You muse, you!
As usual, beautiful work! I loved the added production value! I'm going to have "it looks a bit chunky" stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
Superb re-purposing. It looks amazing, especially the power lamp which works well visually.
just a tip: there is decal setter that you can get, same as what plastic model makers use and it will set the decal and dissolve the clear part leaving just the paint part. nice refinish
This is so cool! Great repurpose of a free piece to something beautiful to suit your needs. Kudos on the reenactment footage. Hilarious! 👏👍🙌
This was totally rock ‘n’ roll! Great work, as always! It looks fantastic and is a novel way to reuse such a fabulously styled piece of history. The musical outro should be a feature of all future videos 😂
I’ve dreamed of doing something like this for a while. I still plan to and I’m glad to see someone else do it successfully
I have an old radio similar to yours. It was my grandfather's and I know it did work. As a small child I remember it being in his bedroom and it worked. This would have been in the late 1950's.. This video was great! What a beautiful piece
And as I am typing this the song at the end came on 😂😂😂 hilarious. The cherry on top
Thanks for watching!
Wow! Definitely one of the best transformations I’ve seen you do! 🙌🏼
Thank you!
You should put a tuner in the old radio dial. Make it something functional and an interesting aesthetic.
I think you should play the guitar to every piece you finish!
Great to see how you've repurposed this old piece and given it a whole new use.
I love every bit of this! Amazingly well done furniture restoration (and I have a giant soft spot for these old radios), and a great repurposing use. I think you absolutely made the right choice with the speaker fabric - the tear is perfectly suitable "character" for something of this age. Well done, thanks!!
I have the exact same radio... its lurking in the garage because I lacked the courage to refinish it properly. Thank you for the inspiration ❤
Have been waiting for a new video and you more than delivered 😊
Omg what a FANTASTIC idea! I've seen a few of these empty radio cases come up on marketplace and think that while they're beautiful, I have no idea what they could be turned into! I hope this catches on ❤
This was a great video and I love your dramatic reenactment beginning and new closing theme song 😁👍
I absolutely loved this restoration! Electronics was a big bonus for my taste :) And the ending... pure gold!!! You sir have the gift(s)!
Thank you!
