  • Jesus Meets Simon Peter The Angry Fisherman
Welcome to this condensed version of Franco Zeffirelli's biblical story of Jesus, drawn from the classic film Jesus of Nazareth (1977). The complete uncut film runs over 6 hours which is difficult to fit into most people's busy and sometimes chaotic lives. So enjoy this condensed version! And if you are only somewhat familiar with the life of Jesus of Nazareth, may it expand your understanding of his life, death, and resurrection. Thanks for viewing!
And most importantly, If you have not received forgiveness for your sins and asked Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior, it's not complicated or hard. Every single follower of Christ has been in the same position as you and have done the same thing... simply from your heart let him know you're sorry for your sins, short comings, and failures. Ask for forgiveness from those sins and ask him to come into your life and change your heart and to give you strength and to lead you on this new path you have now started. There's no magic involved or magic words to say, just cry out for forgiveness and mercy from your heart in truth and he'll hear you and meet you right where you are. Beyond that, take the time to read the Bible, I would start with the New Testament, and find a Christ centered church to attend and start your journey as a follower of Jesus Christ. Be cautious not to let the distractions of modern life pull you away from this gift God gives us freely! Protect it and don't ever give up! Congratulations! God bless you and welcome to the family! Here's a link to a page that goes into more depth for any questions you will likely still have.

Peter was actually a very angry, hot tempered, and cowardly in the beginning of his life. But he was actually very extremely bold and solid preacher in the Book of Acts. He was crucified upsidedown for he wasn't worthy to be crucified like Jesus Christ himself. The way he said Well, what are you staring at. You can actually preach to the fish.

Great performance for James F.,as Peter and why Jesus chose him-he was flawed and struggled he knew what it was like to work so hard and still struggle more, he was every man but also had a compassionate heart beneath the "angry" exterior. He made mistakes but repented and tried again, he truly became worthy to hold the keys to the Kingdom.

This is why faith is everything. Even Babylon knew about God but they chose others instead just like Jews. Man in our current form would get way too familiar with God and we would forget everything and worship others right in front of his face. You can see why he is a jealous God, seeing his bride run away with another god/gods time and time again when he has done more than enough to prove himself but as you probably know with us humans, nothing is ever enough! This film clip is just an "artistic" representation or interpretation of the five New Testament accounts of the story of when Jesus met Peter, John and the sons of Zebedee; Who would later become some of his 12 disciples. I agree, that scene is a strange way of portraying the account where Peter reluctantly went back out and let down his fishing nets again and they were filled to overflowing... also a fore representation of how these men would become fisherman of men's souls as Christ's disciples. Here's one of the primary scriptures from the bible for reference. Thanks for watching and taking the time to add this question; God bless.
Luke 5:1-11 New King James Version
      Four Fishermen Called as Disciples
5 So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him(Jesus) to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, 2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. 3 Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s(Peter), and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. 4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” 6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” 9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” 11 So when they had brought their boats to land, they [a]forsook all and followed Him.

Peter probably would've been happier if Jesus had transported Matthew the tax collector onto Peter's boat...whereupon they'd promptly seize him, thrash him from head to toe, and then throw him into the sea. _Then_ Jesus would get jiggy with the fish miracle. That would make Peter's day.

Reading the books of the New Testament, we perhaps asked ourselves more than once: *"Why 2000 years we do not see those miracles that accompanied the Сhurch of Christ in the I century, as described in the New Testament?"* Why do the so-called preachers of Christ have to prove that Jesus really existed and atheists boldly deny the historicity or divine origin of Christ? Maybe because the Сhurch of Christ has not existed for 2000 years?
The Сhurch does not exist in the form in which it is presented in the books of the New Testament, but there are Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and other christian sects claiming to be the place of the Church, but they not have the only thing that distinguishes the divine from the human and is characteristic of just the Сhurch of Christ -the reinforcement of the word with signs, that is, miracles (Mark 16:15-20).
Therefore, some researchers doubt the historicity of Christ, and some of them are not opposed to declaring him a an ordinary philosopher, teacher. But even if Jesus were an ordinary philosopher, his disciples would be ordinary followers of Jesus. And they would not dare to write about the miracles that not only Jesus, but also his disciples, could perform. If there were the Church in our time as described by the authors of the New Testament books, where miracles are performed, the sick are healed, where prophesied, and the dead are raised, no one would doubt the historicity of Christ. Then there would be the same controversy throughout the world as in the first century - Jesus the Son of God or the false prophet who seduces the world by miracles. As a result, we can say that the emergence and development of christian sects and atheism was the result of the fact that over the 2000 years the Сhurch of Christ did not exist.
