  • Dr. Phil tackles one of the most divisive topics of the year: Critical Race Theory (CRT). Dr. Phil invites passionate parents on both sides of this great debate, including Tiffany and Quisha, founders of the group “Mothers For Liberty,” who say they believe CRT is being taught in K-12 schools and is poisoning the minds of their children. They are joined by fellow ally and mother Amy, who says her young children shouldn’t be expected to be social justice warriors. They debate with moms Laura and Sara who say they support CRT being taught on the college level and do not believe elementary and high schools should avoid talking about race and privilege in classrooms. Dr. Phil also welcomes leading academic Dr. Shaun Harper, who teaches CRT at the university level, and father of three Derrick, who says CRT is keeping racism alive in America. Watch while Dr. Phil speaks to author and writer James Lindsay who passionately decries CRT as “Race Marxism,” and teacher Taylor who says she believes children need to learn about the racist history of the US. I don’t even understand why teaching about black history or CRT is a debate. We learned a great deal about the Holocaust, which is only indirectly related to America, Greek mythology, which is absolutely pointless in my opinion, and every great white person America produced. Black people helped make this country what it is and, unfortunately, we were put through a gruesome hazing to get here. Teach about it! All of it-the good, bad, ugly, and in between.

Hey, im from the uk and just thought I'd share my story. We had an ace History teacher, Mr Cross and he really made sure to include black history in our curriculum, he was so enthusiastic about us learning about it and rightly so. We also had a religious education teacher, me gildroy, who took an amazing turn to his teaching and did a whole section on racism which as a child really opened all of our eyes as he really didnt hold back in being honest and real. It's so important that this is taught and learn throughout our generations ❤

Why are you defensive Hana? Reality black history is taught as an elective and in elementary school only in regards to civil rights and slavery. Why not teach about the accomplishments of blacks and not just slavery? Heart surgery, The coin you hold in your pocket was originally sketched and carved by a black women, etc… But you stuck on there we’re slave owners yes there were black slave owners just like the founding fathers had slaves, Columbus didn’t discover America, and majorly of explorers raped and pillaged their way to the top. But I bet that’s offensive to you too. You want to discuss black slave traders as if that validates your point and that blacks are the problem. No one is saying don’t discuss that but you’re so triggered that’s your arguing point. You should also be offended that this is America but it’s only reflected as white america and when discussing other races it’s only in the form of slavery or oppression not accompaniments but that’s how you prefer us huh? As needing to be saved and victims as opposed to helping build this place you like to claim as yours but has always been stolen. Google Native American boarding schools. Try learning instead of being offended.

If it was about bIack history, they would call it that. Anyone with a brain can look at the curriculum they use and see it's just divisive propaganda.
My daughter is half black and in elementary school. We live in a pretty diverse county. When she came home and repeated stuff they taught in the CRT-like class, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I felt nauseous. It was supposed to be about "inclusivity;" which I was all for, but ended up far from it. I was hoping it was just a single lesson. I was wrong. It was a 1 week thing. The next day, they split the kids up by race to receive different lessons. She didn't know which race to pick and was very uncomfortable. The lessons they had them do were DISGUSTING; which included having the white kids apologize to the others (more than one cried while doing so). Then came a specific assignment that had 3 really gross things in it. I can't explain what said because RUclips will auto-delete the comment (although it was apparently appropriate for elementary students lol). Some concerned parents held a meeting to discuss it and plan to talk to the school. 16 showed, 5 were non-white. Of course, a few parents that didn't attend went on social media to label ones that did as "bigots" that were "validating wh-te s-prem-cy." The following weeks, there was a lot of unusual fighting between the children (nothing physical, but a lot of arguments and insults such as calling the white kids "sIave owner" and "racist"). My daughter came home one day saying they had an assembly for her grade. Apparently faculty was concerned because besides the fighting, the kids were basically self segregating at lunch time (which they never did before). They decided to address it when a little bIack boy was crying and switched tables because he was called a "traitor" for sitting/eating with the white kids because his best friend happened to be white. The conclusion of the assembly was basically "well... if you kids feel 'safest' in this seating arrangement, than that's fine." It was obvious that the dynamic between those kids would never be the same. Before that class, they never prioritized skin color. Before that class, my daughter was never insecure about her race. Why you would want to divide children instead of being them together is beyond me. But I don't care what you call it. It's a racist, regressive ideology that should NEVER be taught in public grade schools.

What is the purpose of teaching about these people? I only remember learning about one black person who was famous for his blackness: Nelson Mandela. The South African president, terrorist, incarcerated, anti-segregation freedom fighter. Maybe Dr. M.L.K. Jr. too, but my memory is fuzzy. And this case makes sense because his fame is from his blackness and what he did with it.
I think American history should just be a blow-by-blow account of what happened. "People came from Europe to avoid religious persecution. They brought slaves from Africa to do their busy work. Republicans wanted to free the slaves and Democrats didn't so they fought a civil war. Baseball was played and everybody became fat. The end."

Like, WHY wasn't it included in the ACTUAL history books? That was in the 90's, btw. So yeah.... I agree. Where's all this awesome history and why isn't it included??? 😑 boggled my brain since I was young. I actually started studying on my own and finding a lot of cool facts and different inspiring stories from ALL OVER. I believe that our children shouldn't be kept from these stories, including the bad. In fact, Call Of Duty WWII on the Ps4/Xbox got guts when they recreated an abandoned concentration camp and had some very well yet disturbing details. However, we shouldn't be offended over history because history and the past helps us shape a BETTER TODAY. Live, Learn, and Love. We LEARN from our mistakes/accomplishments to move towards a better future. And ALL history needs to be addressed. Not just a select few.

It’s interesting BRIAN that you’re wondering what her husband thinks. A grown woman with her own brain, experiences, and thought processes. Let’s also consider the fact that the panel is about their individual accomplishments in this particular area. I noticed you didn’t ask what their wives think. So either you’re stuck in the 50’s or you’re making a dig on her. Either way it reveals your ignorance.

I can only speak from my own experiences here, and what I've heard from black people themselves. Some of my favorite people I worked with as a nurse were black. One day in the break room I listened to a discussion of these black women talking about their own families, and I actually started crying. They were saying that the lighter skinned blacks within their families were treated better than the darker ones, received more gifts and attention. This should not be happening. So from my point of view, blacks are more discrimatory to each other than whites are to blacks. This should be stopped in the home!
Also I worked with underprivileged black children with disabilities in their communities. And I saw that alot, but not all, of black parents do NOT value education and do not involve themselves in their children's learning, and also make excuses for their children's inadequate learning and poor behavior. Thus, I feel strongly that black parents, regardless of their situation should be working towards improving their children's education and stop shouting discrimination at the schools, while encouraging racism within the home. Children learn more from their own familes than can be taught at school. So again I say, please, black parents, stop denigrating your own children, encourage learning, stop blaming teachers and stop putting forth the idea you can't succeed as a person of color.

Yes and we can also supplement that with the why? and that White history involves, countless massacres', lootings, burning down of black communities and business, serial rape and terrorism towards black people, the treatment of black soldiers after every war, the discrimination against black people in all walks of life, the coup in states and towns that had an form of black leadership. Lets not stop at slavery and the civil war, Jim Crow, Black Codes, and the list goes on. lets talk about all of it especially what happened after it, leading to how the community is now, that's the goal !

I think that's the problem - all the major figures in the history books I had *were* white. I only learned about people who were not white because shockingly, there's a real world out there where not everything was done by white people - for either good or bad. I think we need to teach global history as well as European history because so much is just not covered.

People who are falling for this trap, there's only one thing I can tell you is that CRT is a totally different thing and has nothing to do with the black history. CRT and black history are two different things and CRT will only make things worse and worse. And this vicious woman is talking about CRT and not black history. She wants to create a divide and the fact that kids will never be able to look at each other the way should (that we're all human beings). But CRT will teach kids that they have to payback for what their great great great great great great great grandparents did which is a total nonsense. So before backing up her movement do your own research and then decide what you want for your kids.

    • @larainneestell700

It's not asking you to payback what your ancestors did, it just means acknowledge it and learn from it. They get taught nothing about black history. Most kids can't tell what the Civil War was about. Smdh

@@larainneestell700 But the woman in this video isn't talking about black history. she's talking about CRT. So go home and read something about it. It literally teaches kids that they can predict their future based on their skin color and if you have a dark skin color, that means you're never going to make it because the system built for and by white people. And there's more to it. Yesterday I watched this video on pragerU YT channel where this school teacher exposed what these people are upto and what they're teaching in schools.
