- As a professor Sandra Richter is interested in making the real people who lived in the real space and time of the OT come alive for her students. As a result, those who study the great narrative of God and his people with her can expect a substantial dose of the history, archaeology, geography, and languages of the ancient Near East. Dr. Richter was a professor of Old Testament at Wheaton College in Illinois before accepting the Robert H. Gundry Professor of Biblical Studies endowed chair at Westmont in the fall of 2017. She is a graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Harvard University. Her professional background includes nine years as a professor of Old Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary, four at Wesley Biblical Seminary, and several years at Gordon-Conwell and Gordon College. She is deeply committed to the health of the Church, and speak and teach often at events dedicated to the education and discipleship of the laity.
