So true! I never tried the old card game, but I've heard good things. I'm glad this one ended up coming out of it though. A nice cheap, expandable model like this will last much longer for us.
Actually, that magic variant (called Type 4) was the inspiration for Epics ressource system. Robert Dougherty (Game Designer) played this mode a lot back in the days when he wasn't busy gettin Top8 in tournaments, so he wanted to implement a system that brought this kind of gameplay. At least thats what Darwin Kastle (the other Game Designer) said during Worlds 2017
+Jonathon Reese I'm right there with you Jonathon. I've really been enjoying Ashes as well and hope to feature a video similar to this style soon. I just need to get the rest of the guys over for more plays!
How'd you get so many wolf wolf tokens? Joke aside, the version I ordered comes with merely 4, I think. Do you have multiple copies or did you get the kickstarter version with extas or...? And I'm sorry if the answer was given in the video. Currently at 17min as of writing this.
Hey, no worries! In this video we were playing with only a single set of cards for the draft phase, but we did back the Kickstarter for multiple sets...that's what gave us the extra tokens. Hope that helps!
When every card is broken its EPIC ;)
Loved the old TCG

Reminds me of that old Magic variant where every card's mana cost is reduced to 0, but you can only play one spell a turn.
And Jeremy wins again!
Yeah, that sounds like it would be a pretty crazy variant! As for Jeremy winning again...at least it was much closer this time :)

Ever played CARDFIGHT VANGUARD?
Have not tried it. Is it a similar type of game?
like this game for a quick fix, another game in the same vein that's been taking up all my time lately though is Ashes
