We have an answer. It's called Justice League Action. Besides, Teen Titans Go is less a problem in of itself and more a symptom of Cartoon Network's ongoing contempt for its older audience members.
Justice League Action sucks. I swear I feel like my 10 year old self could write Justice League Action episode. Its exactly what it is, like watching 10 year old play with his action figures. The plots are so basic and crappy. I wish they brought back Justice league unlimited, that show was million times better.
News flash: ain't happening. Not only has the animation industry drastically changed since the mid-2000s, but Cartoon Network has pretty much gotten overhauled and shot in the face since those days. It's why they stick Justice League Action, Samurai Jack and Toonami, easily the best shows on the channel, in single slots during the entire weekly schedule, while Teen Titans Go, a show with similar airtime, gets shown literally 25% of the day. Six hours of the 24 hour day are filled with Teen Titans Go, because CN doesn't want to let the kids know that they can do better. Doing better costs money, and why spend money when you could NOT spend money and theoretically make the same amount of money? Standards have dropped and times have changed. And until those kids who grew up in the '90s start becoming a force in the animation industry, and a viable market with kids of their own, CN is going to continue to tell itself that they don't need to try. So don't hold your breath. I liked JLU, but I'll settle for Young Justice Season 3. At this point, television is pretty much on its way out when you compare it to, say, Netflix subscribers.

You know Bryan Cranston is also in a adult cartoon from Crackle and Adult swim called Super Mansion which is a series by Stupid Monkey Productions (the same company that was famous for designing the doll of Robot Chicken and Titan Maximum). It's a really funny show.
The complaint isn't that the movie is _too mature_ for kids, it's that it contains too much _mature content_ for kids. I.E., not child-safe family entertainment parents can just take their kids to without exposing them to certain ideas they don't want to have to explain until the kids are older.

There was a thrown away line in the movie that explained the zord's shape. Either Rita or Zordon said the Zords automatically take on the shape of the most powerful creatures on a planet when they first arrive. Thus Dinosaurs because the movie also implied the asteroid that kill the dinos was the ship crashing on Earth during their fight with Rita.
Except that explanation makes no sense because mastodons and sabre-toothed tigers didn't evolve until millions of years after dinosaurs became extinct.
8:39 They actually explained it in the movie. The zords were shaped like dinosaurs because dinosaurs were the dominant species at the time. As for the red ranger's sword, it was a holdover from a cut concept that basically makes it the Power Rangers equivalent of Excalibur.
Quick personal review: Better story than expected, tv worthy special effects, subpar fights scenes for Power Rangers, solid acting from all involved. All in all, as a fan, I was happy.
Your Honest Reviews are my favorite videos from you, as they're less about comedy and more about analytical discussion and we get a whole slew of them during the holidays so you can have a break from The Blockbuster Buster. I prefer that format. Now that it's just short little reviews right off the cusp of the release, it makes it as samey as any old reviewer on this site. I preferred that you dedicated time to a film backlog at the end of the year, to let things digest.
Seriously, I agree most of the zords are okay with the exception of the Mastodon zord. I'm sorry but that doesn't look like a Mastodon, it looks like an oversized bug and as someone whose favorite zord was the Mastodon, that pissed me off.
I loved this movie, while I enjoy the light hearted campy original series, I'm glad they still balanced that with realism, instead of that Power/Rangers video

Hey E-Rod, could you also do a video...if you were to...that explains your thoughts on the new 30th anniversary short film, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Once & Always?
So a movie that's "too mature for kids" is ok because it involves space-robo-dinos and is based on a camp tv show despite the fact in the first few minutes of the film, the Red Ranger tells his friend he just jacked off a bull mistaking it for a cow (a joke stolen from City Slickers 2)? The Black Ranger was barely a character because of how long it takes him to even really start interacting and having personal scenes of his own. When Trini starts showing up, I could barely tell when I was looking at her vs Kimberley because how unpersonal the shots got and how much they toned down having each Ranger where their corresponding colors in their wardrobe. Frankly, their "attitude" made them actually a bunch of douche-bags and they had to train and bond to become a social group of friends that could actually activate their powers rather than someone that the coins would have bonded with or Alpha 5 would have swooped up and brought into the fold of being the new Rangers. At least Hal Jordan (movie version) had some admirable quality about him that still made Abin-Sur's ring choose him as the next ring bearer in Green Lantern. Here, it's like saying, "I choose you but I won't work for you until you behave differently from your natural self." At best, Billy had something but the whole spectrum thing got annoying to watch and Jason was...bland really especially for the whole deliquent-with-a-heart-of-gold archetype. There actually was some good fighting moments like the fork duel between Kimberley and Trini but I can see why having them flip in and out of FX shots like Superman in Man of Steel would be annoying. And ultimately, the fights are barely there anyway and just supplanted with training montages. I give this film a 5 and would rather watch the '95 film despite its massively dated, bad CGI effects used in the Zord sequences.
Nice review. I'm actually liking the Honest Reviews of this new format better than the others you're doing. They fell less scatter shot and more focused. The points you make are clear, without getting lost in the shuffle. As for your opinion, I agree. The film is not perfect, not by any means, but it is enjoyable. You dodged the controversy about the product placement well.
There were kids next to me during Deadpool. One kept explaining Deadpool lore to his mom. There also was a ton of kids when I saw Watchmen. They were so hyper...
Kinda wish they had included Rita's robes and hat (maybe sans nipple spikes). It was such a cool look. Maybe have the green armour as a battle mode or something.
After my second viewing of the movie, I have to say this was one of my top 3 movies I have seen this year, I can only think of one movie, The Breakfast Club, which I like more (ironically Power Rangers 2017 seemed to borrow few things from it, and that's just awesome.) I grew up watching Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and still got some nostalgia from it, but I have to say, the movie is better, and I can't wait for the sequels!
If they do get to make their six movie plan (even though one sequel would be a miracle at this point), I would like to see the following ideas: -Green and White Rangers as separate characters. Don't really care if one is a woman either way. -The rest of the United Alliance of Evil: Zedd, Mondo, Divatox, and Astronema. -If the other teams have to be brought in like the Zeo or Space Rangers, make them separate characters (like the show) and DON'T REPLACE the ones we have. Just have it be MCU style crossover.
In the theaters, There was a scene of Elizabeth Banks eating a donut while Destiny's Child was playing, Sadly that wasn't in the film. Anyone else love the jab at Transformers in the film?
I really wanted the movie to explain why three of the zords are dinosaurs, but the yellow and black zords are a sabre-toothed cat and woolly mammoth. It would have taken three seconds. "The yellow and black zords needed a form change during the ice age." There, was that so hard? Good video by the way
That ain't bragging rights. It's was obvious JDF would make a cameo. He's freaking JDF. Of course he is gonna make a cameo. He probably just showed up on set the first day and they didn't even invite him. lol.
You forgot, there was an end credit scene where 'Tommy Oliver' is the new student in Detention. Something tells me that is a Sequel Tease. I SWEAR IF THEY DON'T MAKE A SEQUEL, I'M GONNA BE PISSED!
can't wait till his next review of X-men apocalypse and your thoughts on it. and hope you would riff on ivan-ocalypes and pretty much the Jennifer Lawrence show feat. the X-men looking forward to it
What's noticeable is that they plan 6 movies. The original era of power rangers ended after in space which was the 6 season. It would be interesting if they get that far.
Considering it took them so long just to make their budget amount at the box office, we'll be lucky to get one or two sequels at this point. I'm thinking they'll most likely just focus on the Mighty Morphin stories, will the next movie (if made) being the Green Ranger saga.
I actually did kind of laughed at the final act of the movie where they had to protect the Zeo Crystal which is located under-neath a Krispy Kreme restaurant!!! LOL!!! Damn, I wonder how much money that company had to pay for the product placement and sponsorship for the movie?! Still, I actually had fun watching this movie. Now, I'm definitely gonna have to wait for it to come out on blu-ray and hopefully, if we're lucky, we might actually get a sequel that will introduce Tommy Oliver's character as the evil green ranger, and hopefully Lord Zedd, Scorpina or the Machine Empire as the new villains in later installments.
JDF in the movie? MINUS A STAR. Amy Jo Johnson: + 1 star Now coming from a Toku fan of Both PR and Super Sentai, the film looks good. No issues with the suits, for they look pretty nice. The cast looks great. Biggest problem: CGI and the Kaiju fight.... There is a reason why people got upset over CGI Yoda; there was something physically there. The art of scale modeling is becoming quickly a thing of the past I'm afraid. I know how terrible some of the effects were but at least it looked fantastic (especially 10 years ago with Gekitouja (Gekiranger/Jungle Fury)). Anyway I'm cool with the decision. PS: Not wild on pics from Megaforce/Super Megaforce.
Good review. However, I still believe less greenscreen, an actual buster base instead of this photoshop excuse, waiting for the films release and cutting of the weird and forced intro quip will make your format go back on track, becasue right now it is kinda meh on the visual side. Your points in eneral are good, though
I enjoyed the movie. Oh, it has scenes I really don't like and wish weren't there, but as a whole, I had fun, and that was all I really wanted from a Power Rangers movie.
I preferred the "Bootleg" short fan film the same bloke that wrote the excellent Judge Dread movie "Dread" did that Saban tried to get pulled off the internet. I think it had Katee Sackhoff playing the Pink Ranger which is also good.
At least with PR, you know Bryan Cranston wasn't going to take the center stage. They didn't Peter Molyneux us like "Godzilla" did with his presence in the movie.
The costume should of looked like the Black Panther costume instead of the Iron-man costume. It would look great if it was suppose to be battlizer or something but as the Base suit not so much.
Except that this doesn't make any sense since the mastodon and the sabre-toothed tiger did not exist at the same time as the other three (they didn't evolve until millions of years later).
I completely agree; modern kids are more used to violence and darker subject matters in media. Hell, I knew when I was a kid, I saw r rated movies all the time.
As a 90's kid, i watched the Mighty Morphin PR, but i could not handle this movie. It was slow, it needed better dialogue. The blue ranger drowns because he couldn't hold his breath? Even after that long ass underwater swim that they do in the caves for the first time? Are you serious? Goldar should've had some varying color accents. Just seeing an all gold robot on screen isn't pleasing to the eye. The teens were serious, but Rita was the cheesy character from the tv show? It was too mismatched for me. I'm glad that i didn't watch it in the theater.
I liked RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger. He was awesome. The movie took too long to get to the action. Too much development. The training was tedious. The Morphers should have been in this movie. I hope they bring them back in the sequel. I wish at least one of them knew martial arts before hand. I hope the martial arts is better in sequel.
I'm glad you and so many others enjoyed the movie so much. I didn't though. There were a number of things that really ended up bugging me, including how darkly saturated everything was and how disappointing the fight scenes were, and how they were able to kill something that was liquid metal by stabbing it. And people seem to forget that they made Kimberly a grade A bitch in the movie. Yes she got ostracized from the popular kids but that's because she was horrible. And all the shaky cam choices were nauseating at points. Elizabeth Banks was fun though, but I think she deserved to be in a better movie.
And I'm glad that she knows that what she did was awful. What Jason did was awful too. It's all a part of growing up and both of them owning up to their mistakes is a great way of developing their character arcs.
Yeah. But there are mistakes and then their is cruelty. Then in the climax she causes collateral damage to her victims car that could have gotten her killed, but Kimberly passes it off as a "that's what you get for turning against me" moment. It would have been nice to have her own up to being a bully and instead of whining about how it made her feel bad herself to Jason actually trying to make amends. There was no way she could but acknowledging to her victim instead of denying it to her face would have been a good start, and shown growth. The others growths were minor but decently. They are pretty much just people that are good people that make minor mistakes but get better.
Oh ther is some thing that botherd me in your turbo a Power Rangers movie review the reason why they wher spendex in that movie so they can use more clips from the original series in Japan and now you know
Unfortunately this film didn't do very well box office wise given its budget. A sequel is possible but I'd say far from inevitable. There's a good chance the studio will actually lose money on this one.
Not to mention dvd and blu ray sales. Besides, Lionsgate was only invested for $25 million of the $100 budget. Lionsgate gets the rest of the money by selling distribution rights.
Richard gennele: what you give dedicated to Truy Trang, but forgot about me I played Ernie owner of the juice bar....oh screw you erod I'm serving drink in heaven....this reboot can suck it
thundercat2000ca don't get me wrong I'm glad they're not just one dimensional characters this time around but I just don't want another Godzilla 2014 on my hands.
Can't really respond to that as I haven't seen Godzilla 2014 yet. I enjoyed the third act of Power rangers but the action could have lasted a little longer.
thundercat2000ca alright well I'll watch it eventually, just probibly not in theaters. also the problem with Godzilla 2014 is there's not enough of Godzilla in it and theirs only one real fight at the very end when the movie should of had 3.
@@thundercat2000ca UPDATE 5 YEARS LATER LOL: I really liked this movie. you just have to go into it expecting a "drama with sci fi elements" not an "action movie"
pretty good rewview erod as alwasy but in the movie they did say why the zords look like dinos the robot said " the zord take the shape of what ever is stronget thing at the time" that being dino at the time the zord was made on earth and then black ranger took his for joy ride because come on you would as well
I miss this version of the Buster. the new format of the show is just him yelling at movie characters with decently replicated costumes and shitty greenscreen effects. this is why i watch internet reviewer shows, for analysis of the media. not for cheap visual gags
honestly it wasn't bad BUT ... holy chewing cow batman ! was there was way too much civilian rangers it took them 3/4 of the movie to get in the damn suits ...... and then it's over ..... so while i do hope for a sequel ... i also hope.. for this kind of movie only . .. a little less converssation and a little more action please
I pretty much agree with Erod's rating, good but not perfect. However Erod I belive missed two things. One: "I'm glad they didn't kill her off at the end" Oh so getting bitch-slapped into space, and then freezing up in the void that's nothing, she can snap right out of that. I mean obviously Lord Zedd comes along in the sequel and revives her somehow but dont act like they didn't "finish her" Two and I hesitate to bring it up, but you mentioned Trini being ostracized for her sexual orientation...She never actually says what that is. The studios made a big deal to the media about "We have the first openly gay superhero" When she says her self she is confused. Confused doesn't mean gay. She could bisexual, she could like relationsships with men and women. Zack says "Girlfriend?" and she just blows it off. Someone else saying something means virtually nothing. She's still a freakin teenager, of course she wants to experiment and see what she likes. Doesn't mean she is gay. I know in this day and age kids can come out earlier but speaking as someone that had issues and only started experimenting in my 20's I can say it takes time for you to figure out who and what you are. The studio's need to be called out for their BS, someone questioning your sexual orientation does not equal "openly gay" Its the classic case of "Show don't tell" If we would have seen a flashback of her at least holding hands with another girl and getting picked on, then you might have had a case. You know what would have been more interesting? If Zach was confused. Would explain a lot of his behavior. Also since he's not connected to the school there's no reason you couldn't, I mean young handsome guy doesn't want a girlfriend... Yes I know the whole dying mom bit, but that would have added an extra layer as well. He's confused about who he is but he cant talk to his mother about it because she could die, hence he always runs away.
Well I think the hand to hand action sequences were at least made well, sure it's not as impressive as the show since it's more CG and less real life martial arts action but I was still able to enjoy it (though I will agree that the megazord and goldon (whatever that thing's name is) fight is rather forgettable)
I think I'm starting to like this movie a little more than I initially thought (and this is coming from someone who's even less versed in the power rangers universe than you are)
@@SharpestSniper99 yeah oh and I've identified wich zords make what on the megazord zack and Billy are the legs trinis the crotch Jason is the torso last kimberly is the head and wings
Sorry to burst every one's bubble but the fight choreographic from the power ranger show has always been scene's taken from the Japanese show Super Sentai, Saban has almost never done there own battle/fighting scene's
true but thous scenes where only when they where with out there suits, though from the MMPR to the PRIS seasons there out of suit fights where good but, I think he talked about when they where in there suits that's why I had to point it out.
Once they got the second season, they did more and more American footage fight scenes with the suits on. How do you explain the White Rangers mixing in with the other Rangers when the White Ranger and the Mighty Morphin suits were taken from different Sentai? Even at the beginning of Season 3 they even had American zord footage. In Lightspeed Rescue, they had their first original American made Ranger.
I think he already knows that. But, there have been several instances in later seasons where we actually do get to see more and more and more original U.S. fight choreographic action scenes. Hell, even the Disney-era seasons like RPM and Jungle Fury barely used any fight scenes from the sentai shows that they were adapting from. Most of the sentai stock footage were limited to the Megazord battles. And most recently in Dino Charge/Dino Super Charge, we see a little bit more original fight scenes in both the morphed and unmorphed fight scenes. Same with Ninja Steel, but only in the morphed scenes, so far.
In my opinion Rj Cyler stole the show. He was great as Billy and very entertaining. On the other hand I wasn't very fond of the new direction they took with Zack
Fun fact: Jason David Frank got kicked out of the movie's premiere for trying to film his cameo on his cellphone.
Well, to be specific, he was trying to record the audience reaction to his cameo more than anything, but more or less the same thing.
RIP original Green Ranger
This movie really surprised me, I liked how it was true to the source material, I liked how it payed tribute to series and I loved how they even took a shot a Michael Bay.

At best, Billy had something but the whole spectrum thing got annoying to watch and Jason was...bland really especially for the whole deliquent-with-a-heart-of-gold archetype.
The power coins saw their potential
Nice review. I'm actually liking the Honest Reviews of this new format better than the others you're doing. They fell less scatter shot and more focused. The points you make are clear, without getting lost in the shuffle.
As for your opinion, I agree. The film is not perfect, not by any means, but it is enjoyable. You dodged the controversy about the product placement well.
erod you forgot the tease of tommy oliver at the end
There were kids next to me during Deadpool. One kept explaining Deadpool lore to his mom.
There also was a ton of kids when I saw Watchmen. They were so hyper...
ERod is an Amy Jo fanboy, like every 90s fanboy
Can you please do an Honest Review of Godzilla Resurgence?
The real MVP was Billy. Obviously
Kinda wish they had included Rita's robes and hat (maybe sans nipple spikes). It was such a cool look.
Maybe have the green armour as a battle mode or something.
After my second viewing of the movie, I have to say this was one of my top 3 movies I have seen this year, I can only think of one movie, The Breakfast Club, which I like more (ironically Power Rangers 2017 seemed to borrow few things from it, and that's just awesome.)
I grew up watching Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and still got some nostalgia from it, but I have to say, the movie is better, and I can't wait for the sequels!
If they do get to make their six movie plan (even though one sequel would be a miracle at this point), I would like to see the following ideas:
-Green and White Rangers as separate characters.
Oh, Erod, I hope U were gentle, I know U weren't a fan, but PR was at the core of a good chunk of my childhood! >_
Wow, far less harsh than I was expecting, cool; well done! ^_^
Surprised you didn't talk about them putting different races in the suits (No black ranger in black suit, Asian ranger in yellow suit)
Hey ERod how awesome would it be in te sequel if they made JDF and AJJ the parents of Tommy? Could even make him Tommy Jr. So JDF can still be Tommy?
Please do an honest review of Smurfs: The Lost Village.
In the theaters, There was a scene of Elizabeth Banks eating a donut while Destiny's Child was playing, Sadly that wasn't in the film.
Anyone else love the jab at Transformers in the film?
8:40 I think Alpha said that the swords take the form of the most powerful Creatures from the planet.
I know I probably not alone, but I hate the CGI background. What happened? You had a really nice setting.
I really wanted the movie to explain why three of the zords are dinosaurs, but the yellow and black zords are a sabre-toothed cat and woolly mammoth. It would have taken three seconds.
"The yellow and black zords needed a form change during the ice age." There, was that so hard?
Good video by the way
Mastodon not Woolly Msmmoth
That ain't bragging rights. It's was obvious JDF would make a cameo. He's freaking JDF. Of course he is gonna make a cameo. He probably just showed up on set the first day and they didn't even invite him. lol.
Much better honest review, so glad there were no more camcorder footage in it
there was
You forgot, there was an end credit scene where 'Tommy Oliver' is the new student in Detention.
One can only hope.
they probably would want to skip Turbo and go straight into Space
Considering it took them so long just to make their budget amount at the box office, we'll be lucky to get one or two sequels at this point. I'm thinking they'll most likely just focus on the Mighty Morphin stories, will the next movie (if made) being the Green Ranger saga.
10:03-10:10 Hhhhhhaaaahh! Just look at how sophisticated they are on the internet! XD
Now, I'm definitely gonna have to wait for it to come out on blu-ray and hopefully, if we're lucky, we might actually get a sequel that will introduce Tommy Oliver's character as the evil green ranger, and hopefully Lord Zedd, Scorpina or the Machine Empire as the new villains in later installments.
the only thing about krispy kreme i found amusing was when rita says it so seriously.
So we finally got a good Power Rangers movie. Too bad it didn't do better.
I love the dedication to Thuy Trang at the end. Hard to believe she's been dead for 17 years
are you more of a Ninja Turtle fan
JDF in the movie? MINUS A STAR.
Amy Jo Johnson: + 1 star
Now coming from a Toku fan of Both PR and Super Sentai, the film looks good.
It happen to me once when there was a cameo by the hoff and ms anderson herself in baywatch
2:31 "Dino cars"? Yknow she could've said costumes and toys
But that's not ritas style
Good review.
However,
I still believe less greenscreen, an actual buster base instead of this photoshop excuse, waiting for the films release and cutting of the weird and forced intro quip will make your format go back on track, becasue right now it is kinda meh on the visual side.
Your points in eneral are good, though
Billy *Cranston* - the Blue Ranger - was (sur)named for Bryan Cranston.
Gave this a like specifically for the dedication.
But that was billy's name in the show so it can't be in tribute to Brian
I enjoyed the movie. Oh, it has scenes I really don't like and wish weren't there, but as a whole, I had fun, and that was all I really wanted from a Power Rangers movie.
I preferred the "Bootleg" short fan film the same bloke that wrote the excellent Judge Dread movie "Dread" did that Saban tried to get pulled off the internet. I think it had Katee Sackhoff playing the Pink Ranger which is also good.
Don't worry, folks, Gravity Falls honest review will be out soon. ;)
At least with PR, you know Bryan Cranston wasn't going to take the center stage. They didn't Peter Molyneux us like "Godzilla" did with his presence in the movie.
Amy Jo was in the movie?! Why didn't anyone tell me my first waifu was in it?!
I am at 8:18 and i can not unsee the Megazords weird crotch hands.
The costume should of looked like the Black Panther costume instead of the Iron-man costume. It would look great if it was suppose to be battlizer or something but as the Base suit not so much.
I thought it was clever that THIS Rita was the green ranger in her time.
They did explain about the zords they said they took the shape of the strongest beings on the planet at the time they were formed
Except that this doesn't make any sense since the mastodon and the sabre-toothed tiger did not exist at the same time as the other three (they didn't evolve until millions of years later).
ERod, I recommend you read the Power Rangers by Boom Studios, it's even better than the movie.
I love the movie, but.... yeah. The comic book is the greatest incarnation of Power Rangers of all time.
sm4carnageihope I'm sorry but RPM is.
Yeah no. I love RPM, but no.
I completely agree; modern kids are more used to violence and darker subject matters in media. Hell, I knew when I was a kid, I saw r rated movies all the time.
I like the Rangers' armor, it reminds me of their awesome suits from the _original_ _MMPR: The Movie_ from 1995.
Also, CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING YOUR PREDICTIONS RIGHT! Here, have some Krispy Kreme donuts. (Wink, Wink, Nudge Nudge.)
damn it I wanted Zack-Fu, we didn't get to see that
The sequel is gonna be based on the Evil Green Ranger saga. So...I'm excited!
Shame this didn't get a sequel.
This review would've been so much better if it was just your voice set to footage of the movie, you know, like your old Honest Reviews.
Are you going to do that same tired complaint every time Hewy? He's changed. Deal with it.
Hewy Toonmore you know..... DMCA takedowns
How the hell do you expect anyone to use decent footage from a movie that's still in theaters unless they want to be arrested?
+imdb88 They could, oh, I don't know, wait till it's out on dvd or blu ray first.
have you even watched the old honest reviews?
I am actually half-way intrigued now.
I guess that makes sense then. I still think she learned her lesson at least.
I thought Chris Evan's was going to play zordon and i thought Tobey Maguire was going to play billy
Oh ther is some thing that botherd me in your turbo a Power Rangers movie review the reason why they wher spendex in that movie so they can use more clips from the original series in Japan and now you know
Most of the fight scenes in the tv show was mostly from stock footage from super dental
Only the fight scenes where they were morphed and in costume. The unmorphed fights in the series were all original footage.
RIP Jason David Frank Green Ranger
Unfortunately this film didn't do very well box office wise given its budget. A sequel is possible but I'd say far from inevitable. There's a good chance the studio will actually lose money on this one.
Not to mention dvd and blu ray sales. Besides, Lionsgate was only invested for $25 million of the $100 budget. Lionsgate gets the rest of the money by selling distribution rights.
it's an improved version of the lackluster Max Steel movie, which is quite saying much
Richard gennele: what you give dedicated to Truy Trang, but forgot about me I played Ernie owner of the juice bar....oh screw you
erod I'm serving drink in heaven....this reboot can suck it
The only thing that keeps me from seeing this movie right away is that I've heard theirs not enough action to pay off from all the build up.
It's a good movie. By the end of it you care about these kids.
thundercat2000ca don't get me wrong I'm glad they're not just one dimensional characters this time around but I just don't want another Godzilla 2014 on my hands.
@@thundercat2000ca UPDATE 5 YEARS LATER LOL: I really liked this movie. you just have to go into it expecting a "drama with sci fi elements" not an "action movie"
pretty good rewview erod as alwasy
but in the movie they did say why the zords look like dinos
the robot said " the zord take the shape of what ever is stronget thing at the time" that being dino at the time the zord was made on earth
and then black ranger took his for joy ride because come on you would as well
I honestly had a lot of fun with the movie!
why would they keep the damn helmets open!? seriously they never revealed who they were to other people except the time rangers
I miss this version of the Buster. the new format of the show is just him yelling at movie characters with decently replicated costumes and shitty greenscreen effects. this is why i watch internet reviewer shows, for analysis of the media. not for cheap visual gags
honestly it wasn't bad BUT ... holy chewing cow batman ! was there was way too much civilian rangers
it took them 3/4 of the movie to get in the damn suits ......
and then it's over .....
so while i do hope for a sequel ... i also hope.. for this kind of movie only .
.. a little less converssation and a little more action please
3:35 oof...
Why did you say a kitten plAying with yarn now its stuck in my brain!
I'm still reviewing this movie.
I pretty much agree with Erod's rating, good but not perfect. However Erod I belive missed two things. One: "I'm glad they didn't kill her off at the end" Oh so getting bitch-slapped into space, and then freezing up in the void that's nothing, she can snap right out of that. I mean obviously Lord Zedd comes along in the sequel and revives her somehow but dont act like they didn't "finish her"
Two and I hesitate to bring it up, but you mentioned Trini being ostracized for her sexual orientation...She never actually says what that is.
Well yeah, Rita kinda lives on the moon, I'm sure she's ok.
Well I think the hand to hand action sequences were at least made well, sure it's not as impressive as the show since it's more CG and less real life martial arts action but I was still able to enjoy it (though I will agree that the megazord and goldon (whatever that thing's name is) fight is rather forgettable)
I think I'm starting to like this movie a little more than I initially thought (and this is coming from someone who's even less versed in the power rangers universe than you are)
Also the megazord I think looks cool but it needs a liiitle more color
@@SharpestSniper99 yeah oh and I've identified wich zords make what on the megazord zack and Billy are the legs trinis the crotch Jason is the torso last kimberly is the head and wings
Sorry to burst every one's bubble but the fight choreographic from the power ranger show has always been scene's taken from the Japanese show Super Sentai, Saban has almost never done there own battle/fighting scene's
Only the scenes where they are in their suites. There are fight scenes with the American cast.
true but thous scenes where only when they where with out there suits, though from the MMPR to the PRIS seasons there out of suit fights where good but, I think he talked about when they where in there suits that's why I had to point it out.
Kazuma DoubleIce Not always. Power Rangers has accrued plenty of original fight footage. Morphed and unmorphed.
The movie was pretty entertaining. Just lacked, you know... more rangers.
Decent for a modernization
In my opinion Rj Cyler stole the show. He was great as Billy and very entertaining. On the other hand I wasn't very fond of the new direction they took with Zack
You look good ERod, you lost some weight.
i thought the movie was ok only 2 issues is had where zordon was a bit of a jerk and there was no bulk and skull
