There is nothing political about this film. This Jordan guy wants to become a famous rockstar. Some guru tells him that to achieve greatness in his musical powers he needs to suffer in life and feel extreme heartache. He falls for a girl but it is unrequited love. She goes and marries someone else. He is broken inside. He can't face the media/ paparazzi; punches some of them and lands in the jail. His records start selling due to the negative publicity. He goes after the girl he loves. This time his love is reciprocated but the girl is suffering from a fatal disease. The girl dies and he reaches the greatest heights of fame. The symbolic mention of the birds can stand for the trapped soul of the girl in the frail body which is set free when she dies. There is another song about panache (birds) in the movie .
Dude this isn't at all about politics...that cutting the forest and making cities symbolised humans evolution from doing whatever they want and being happy to doing certain things in a way bound by rules... society norms and culture...and that about searching a bird that Symbolised his love of his life that was taken away from him by the society...the whole song is about his rage against society...that "Nadan Parinda" that "inocent bird" of his I know maybe I'm too late to comment and you may not even read it but I think it will help someone understand the song a little better 😊

My favourite Ranbir Kapoor film is "Barfi". He plays a dumb and deaf guy in it. All its songs are soulful and beautiful.
