It certainly sounds all very high standard and convenient but way too expensive. We came with family from the UK and directly started living in a normal open neighbourhood in Riyadh, villa portion, much cheaper spacious and absolutely no problem with the security around. So it’s worth considering living outside a compound and it’s nice to get a sense of Saudi neighbourhood. Gym membership paid by the company. much more local food options available to dine in or order online. To give you an idea 75-90 K per annum for a ground floor 3 bedroom spacious villa with a maid room and outdoor area.
Really enjoyed your content and style of describing things around, very appreciated. I'll fly to Riyadh mid-October to get a better flavour before relocating. May I ask how did you approach the research of the compound before moving to KSA? Would you recommemd any site or agency to do so or that were helpful in your case? Many many thanks! 😊
@@giovannigazzani4214 unfortunately there are not many agencies as far as I know so it was very much by checking in facebook groups from expats living in Riyadh and then lots of google/youtube searches. I used a mix of aqar, property finder and bayut apps.
Exorbitant rents to exploit highly paid westerners. One can find spacious villas in decent locations in just half of that money and enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle better than in Andora. In the past when the social life was more rigid and tough due to religious constraints westerners and other expatriates used to live in exclusive residential compounds. But now due to new openness and cosmopolitan nature of the society residential compounds have lost their charm. In my opinion it is a waste of your hard earned money.
There is still a lot of restrictions to westerners outside of compounds. Strict dress code + language barriers. Compounds are getting to the point now where they are too expensive for what they provide but they do serve a purpose and living in them is enjoyable
