But an idea to fix your posing problem and its how I imagine that the insta accounts that are dedicated to it do it.
What about setting up wires and rigging it to two light or C-stands and then painting out the wires in Photoshop? It'd allow you to get it 100% in focus and because of the Bokeh you wouldn't need a super accurate paint out. it just has to have a good color match to the background.

I was using self timer to take some photo's yesterday and boyyy did it take time. The relatability is unreal.
Im getting a camera delivered to my house right now to up my photo game and was worried about not being able to find any cool locations or anything to shoot but this video has helped me realise you can take a good photo anywhere.

after saw ur vid i got inspired and i shoot with lumia 1020 , cant believe i actually got my levitation pic as i wanted . manual focus + other adjustments + burst shots = 1 photo i got lol

One second I'm watching you throw stuff at the camera, the next second I'm looking at a field of cows. That's where my brain just stopped. I could feel all the cogs inside just come to a halt :D But I LOVED that grenade bit, that was awesome :) And the photo you got is super awesome as well. I have an idea for a similar style photo as well, but need to practice my throwing skillz first :)
