Thanks for sharing, Winston! And thanks for sharing the info about the new control boards in a previous video. I emailed Carbide and Jorge sent me one right away to replace my original one. So far I'm happy to report I haven't had any of the disconnect issues! Now I just need to spend time cleaning and dialing in/squaring up my machine...never had a need for supreme accuracy before but now I'm starting to need it.
Nextstep : turn it into a flat version that you could pull as a drawer from under the higher platform of your desk (the one supporting displays). Suggestion of the day ! You'll then save much more space, yet, for less material involved.
wow! the final product is amazing!!!!! I wish I could build one of these for my laptop... cant find something to fit my laptop perfectly on the market...
Angles have no effect on spinning disks. How do you think video game consoles are able to be used standing up on their sides? Bumping or moving it while spinning is a different story. Also, my hard drive is solid state so it's a moot point.
Thank you for the reply. I heard that when you use other spinning hard drive like SATA PATA in any angle rather than flat the life of hard drive will be less and soon it will damage it.. so I was wondering that was true or not.. so again thank you
There are some people who say it, but I haven't seen any hard numbers to back up their claims. I've got a bunch of externals that don't always sit perfectly flat on a table. They've been fine for years. My guess is that when people say it should be flat, they're implying it should be on a stable, non-moving surface.
Im a litle newbie so can someone please tell me the exact dimensions of the shapes like height lenght, cuz i cant understand from the project files, i got 15" laptop also ... thank you
First off, your projects are very interesting. I subscribed to your channel. I would like to ask you if there is anyway of connecting the CNC router wirelessly to the laptop? Bluetooth maybe?
The CNC's only input-output is USB, but it doesn't take a powerful laptop to operate it. I will sometimes set up my cheap netbook and then use a remote desktop program to keep an eye on things from a different room.

My understanding is that they're currently fulfilling new S3 (stock and XXL) orders, and once they're through that backlog, they'll make the upgraded parts available to the rest of us in a couple weeks. Source: Badgering Apollo on Instagram.
Property disposition center when I was in grad school. Cost me all of $20... more to ship it home actually, but it's still cheaper than anything I could get from Staples, and pretty volume-efficient when moving.
In about a month... I'm tweaking the design to add one more bit of functionality before I call it complete. There will be a video posted when it's ready.

Wait... how are you "PC Master Race" when you suffer a Mac sitting on your desk? :P You say you don't know know where to put it? The trash seems like a great place! Just take out the battery first for a paperweight. All kidding aside, really nice work on the stand. That's slick.
You should do some 3d print and sell, its a good project Edit: you cand send me the prject so i can print my own stand. Probably will add a cooling system

Awesome. Used yours as a starting template to design my own out of .5" acrylic with a steeping angle. Thank you!
Thank You for the idea man. I made it on a Laser CNC machine with acrylic & made a video about it on my channel.
I love this stand! The file link seems to be broken, does anyone have another?
Practical and stylish.
Great job!

Cool stuff dude!
It be cool if you add cooling fans to it.
how much would you charge me to make one of those for me
Thank you so much! I'll make this
Nice one.
really cool video!
Very cool! However what are you using to drive the extra monitors?
The Macbook gets the 1440p Dell monitor, PC drives the two on the right.
Will not the use of laptop in inclined surface destroy spinning hard drive?? please reply

Can anyone share the temple as link is not working.
Where can I find the z axis upgrades you mentioned?

ok awesome thx!
Do a little video on the differences between the z-axis old/new and put a link on this video to it ;)
Awesome.

Thanks if you tell me
Simple. I like!
Team Liquid represent! :-)
very neat
Do you have the cad files shared anywhere?
Just uploaded SVG's here: www.winstonmoy.com/2016/06/diy-laptop-stand-for-5-in-materials/
Como va a ser eso facil de hacer
Where did you get your desk?
Property disposition center when I was in grad school. Cost me all of $20... more to ship it home actually, but it's still cheaper than anything I could get from Staples, and pretty volume-efficient when moving.
Wow, that sounds like a very good deal. Is there a manufacturer name on it? or model?
That's a negative, I can't even find adhesive residue from a sticker anywhere on the thing... :/
can I order this? very cool

so, can I buy your project? for my 14" laptop
what is the thickness of the piece of wood :-? I'm trying to 3d print it
3/4" but it doesn't need to be that thick. Depends on your infill.
oh okay, thank you so much (y)

non-adjustable angle & height...

Well, I've downloaded the projects files and I keep getting this error, "You need a 5000$ device to make this but you have no shit"
+Mostafa Naeimi Hey buddy, you're off by a factor of 4. CNCs like this are cheaper than most gaming laptops.
Wow
You should do some 3d print and sell, its a good project
Edit: you cand send me the prject so i can print my own stand. Probably will add a cooling system
How the heck is this DIY?!
Do It Yourself :D
Dhruv KP because he did it himself? Hmm 😒
Awesome!!
so ... it should be DMS
thats exactly what I was thinking! Lifes so hard in that machine shop of horrors LOLz
ok i want to order it !!!!!!!!!! lolz
Did you include the price of tools/equipment you used in creating that "$5" DIY Laptop Stand???? wtf
