I love how you do this type of video. Most people will either show a picture of the polish on their nails or swatches on a nail wheel but you actually swatch the polishes live which I love because it shows viewers how the polish applies and stuff.
flowerpony2 Thank you! I prefer these because I found that I had polishes that applies perfectly to the plastic of the nail wheel, but were horrible on my actual nails. I don't think you can accurately tell the formula or opacity of a polish on a nail wheel.

I also love that you do live swatches, and I totally agree with what you said earlier about nail wheels aren't always accurate and the polish can apply differently on your natural nails, which I learned from personal experience. Thank you for your super duper helpful nail polish videos! You're hands down absolutely one my faves :-)

I am obsessed with the last three polishes !!!! The neutrals with the blue shimmer is the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen. I don't understand, though, what the matte finish adds to the polish? Why wouldn't you just use a top coat? Would you say that the matte formula makes it too difficult to work with if I wanted to just add a glossy top coat? Should I look for glossy dupes lol?
Do I need a top coat? I just think that top coats ruin the purpose of a matte nail polish. (Unless it's a matte top coat😅)
Lindsey Cheng top coats normally just protect the nails from chipping and hardens it to prevent scratches, so it is advised unless you want your nails ruined.

It gets streaky a lot because you use a lot of polish. If you used a little less it would be better :)
if she use less polish on the brush, the streaks gonna look up really well and also pretty sheer
I have figured out that for the perfect matte finish & to keep it from chipping. After the color is dry. Apply a regular top coat. Let that dry then apply a matte coat.
Coat Couture and Spun In Luxe are gorgeous! I would wear them with top coat, though.

I don't normally get excited about collections as a whole, but I'm in love with most of this one and am definitely going to track down a couple of these -- probably Just Stitched (and I'm not normally a big fan of light pink polish) and Coat Couture.

I actually like these. Comfy in cashmere and the other dark grey. It would be nice to see this formula in some brights. Regardless Essie isn't readily available in Oz (especially new collections). My Priceline has had the same display for almost 2 years. No joke. You girls in USA are so lucky you can get most brands in retail shops. However I would never have any money left for food!!😸

I'm glad I watched this and other reviews before buying, because apparently I shouldn't really bother if the formula is so bad. It pains me though, because I LOVE the colours a lot.
Cathy Clinckemaillie I didn't have a problem with them aside from Wrap Me Up. I know other people have had issues (as well as the fast chipping that mattes are notorious for) with all the colors though.
Funny I just threw Spun in Lux in my Amazon cart it was 2$ and when I came to this vid it was still selling for 8$!I still have a few of these but never that one 😸

Thanks for this, I just applied a coat of wrap me up and it was difficult, one nail turned out so I need to try again. I love the color though. I should have checked youtube beforehand.

A lot of bloggers say matte polishes aren't worth it. Buying a good matte top coat is better and change any polish into a matte finish. Seems rather thick

I was given Comfy in Cashmere. It looks good with a shiny top coat. It chips within two days for me, though. Too bad.

I don't know if it's just me, or if I got a horrid bottle of Just Stitched, but the formula on mine is so, so bad. It's streaky and still sheer after three coats. Hopefully as the polish ages it'll get better, but ugh. I'm jealous of how nice it looks on you, haha!

Oh wow, Just Stitched was one of my least favorite colors when I looked the collection up online, but after watching your swatches, I think I'm going to have to buy it just so I can wear it with only 1 coat and keep it translucent-y. That, and All Eyes on Nudes are probably my two favorites out of the collection! Thanks for the swatches! (urgh I'm going broke w/ this collection and Zoya's....)

I bought the first shade you showed and the whole thing chipped in half within hours. ugh. now I won't buy Essie ever again😞
I am normally a huge Essie fan, but I bought a bottle of Just Stitched and I am unhappy with it. The formula took at least three coats to reach opacity and the color chipped the day after I applied it! It leaves uneven lines if you don't apply an even coat quickly enough, but that's an issue you have with most matte nail polishes. The color is very beautiful and unique though.
ucsbgirlie18 I didn't have an issue with the formula (other than on Wrap Me Up) but I've heard a lot of people have, that's a bummer!
These are so cool. I asked a question a couple of days ago I will ask again. My question is what are good base coats Anne top coats? And where could I get Zoya polishes?
I am confused with this collection...as far as color and shimmer/non-shimmer polishes in this collection, I feel like it isn't transitional at all. Not as cohesive a collection as Zoya. And seriously...sometimes I wonder why It is still a hit or miss with Essie formula?!? A few shades here I may go for but definitely not the whole collection. I bought comfy in cashmere and applied it with no base coat and added a topcoat. Started chipping the same day as I put it on! I've never had that happen to me with any polish... I'm afraid to buy any of the others in this collection because of this

I bought coat couture and it did the same thing! I'm gonna try to return it to Ulta because I'm so disappointed in it!!!
When u put top coat on matte nail polish doesn't it just, make it not matte anymore? The matte polishes with the top coat looked like regular glossy nail polishes.

I have 4 of these and wish I had seen your review before I bought them - not willing to fight with the more than once so they will be given away or pitched - lfie is too short - will use other colors I have and use a matte topcoat instead

Just me or is the Essies nail polish brush a bit thinner than other brands? Personally I don't own any Essie polishes YET! (I'm working on it k) or maybe other brands have tricket brushes? It looks amazing! Goob job. I have one question though, why do I keep seeing people who don't 'entirely' polish the nails, but leaving a blank area at the cuticle? Is that on purpose, cause I don't like the way that looks.
It's not good to get nail polish on your cuticles, so yes it's on purpose(;
keeping a gap between the cuticle and the polish also helps the manicure last longer, as it doesn't peel up from the sides as easily

i ordered all 6 because it was cheaper that way but i had heard Wrap Me Up had a nightmare formula..lol..oh well..i'll give that one away. I preordered these December 28th and i'm still waiting on them LOL...i got em from 365nailart who usually ship pretty quickly but this set took forever just to be shipped out..it's still on its way to me..so ridiculous.

Yeah, it's kind of ridiculous because they were always quick with other orders and they don't charge a huge amount for shipping. That's why I've ordered from them in the past..but this time is just crazy. According to my tracking number its still just departed the post office in Florida a couple days ago..i'm in Ontario..it'll probably be at least another week til i actually get it. By that time I could've just bought it at a local Shoppers Drug Mart or something. So dumb. But I still want these and am excited to try them lol

Just watched this a second time and I'm starting to think that all those complaining of horrible experiences are caused by "user error". LOL Your applications are GREAT and I'm seeing them with my own eyes. I have these and they were ok for me as well. However, I like you will deal with a difficult formula for an amazing color payoff. ;-)

Do you recommend Essie ? I have no Essie polish , but I hope to get some for Christmas. I have o.p.i and orly. I love the colors of Essie but I need to know if it's easy to use yet looks nice.
I love essie. their recent colors are a great formula. I just got "wrapped in rubies" a beautiful dark red with subtle gold shimmer it's easy to work with opaque in one coat and dries reasonably quickly. in my opinion shimmer or metallic or glitter etc. polishes are always easier to apply tho.
