    Many questions about the "was/were" and i had there same. I had to check it out, better find it yourself and read the rules. BUT "if I WERE .." is correct.
    1. Because we talk about unreal situation. "WERE" - When we have doubts and uncertainty about whether it will come true.
    2. if + Past + should/would + Vinf.
    Always "were".

    Anyone can tell me why should we use "i were" instead of "i was"? Sometimes I see that change and I always thought "were" was used with plural.

      I is itself singular and plural both ...so we can use both

      @@BaihakiEfendy Well, you can use was as well, for I/he/she/it. That's optional. Look below;
      I wish I were taller.
      I wish I was taller. Both are fine. But in formal context you better use the first one.

      Yes in such sentences it's correct. If he were a doctor he would give you some advice. You can't use was instead of were.
