Spirit of the Trees: People of the Cedar (Northwest tribes)

- The tribal nations of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest consider the Cedar essential to life, equal only to the Salmon. People of the Cedar, the title of this segment features many tribes and traditions that have evolved from community life in the forest: carving, basket making, weaving, Cedar clothing and gathering. The Yakima share their concerns and philosophy on sustainable forestry and maintaining traditional food and gathering sources.
I think I was shown this in high school. God have mercy for the abominable treatment the indigenous nations endured and are enduring. I shed many tears.
Cherokee here. We must honor and keep all native tradition alive for the future generations. 🙏
Even as a child I´ve felt a deep connection, even a longing, for the indigenous ways of living: their living with nature, having that deep connection to it, honoring and preserving it. There is so much we, the so called "civilized" world, could learn from them, if only we were willing.
Especially that weaving is so utterly amazing and beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this.
And my heart-felt apologies for everything that has been and unfortunately still is being done to you and your ways of living. Thank you for keeping your wisdom alive - and that you are willing to share it - inspite of all the hardship.
Its because u feel it in your being and u are connected to all things and if the world is hurting we are hurting. I think our teachings are so important and it isnt just to benefit Indigenous Ppl its away to benefit all nations and all beings.
"An understanding that the forest is a place where The Creator is known and felt"(1:20). For me...truer words can not be spoken.
It was among a group of trees that began my awakening of the Creator's presence. Powerful experience.
🙏
creator for them isn't the christian god.
yes now cut into tree
Dang straight. I found this huge oak that had a disease. It looks like a ent from Lord of rings with its arm up waving an a crown of wood. I felt the source God there an now use it daily to commune with the mother, Sophia/Gaia etc. Twice a yr it gets covered in hundreds of mushrooms . One are so bright orange that you can see it from hundreds of yards away! I work for the landowner an offered to work for a week for free if he'd never cut her down. He just laughed at me 😅. The green man is such a rich lore history. Is that why you are named that? Or is it green buddies 😅? Stay free an healthy friend in forest.
The host of this was just lovely.
The natives who continue to practice ancient methods of weaving are incredible. I hope these skills never get lost. ❤
I hated to cut my trees just to have a road, I cried. But I'll talk to the trees to rebuild again.
I do that too. It's crazy to know the grounding Magick of trees too. It's instantaneous an powerful healing process, especially for our radiated toys an society. May all know the mothers love.
that's lame... just the kind of thinking, black, white, yellow, purple people have carved into their selfish beings. me, me me, it's my road so it's ok, I'll ask for forgiveness.
Keep fighting for your ways and the right relationship you have with our beautiful earth. Much respect.
Mmm “…the way we treat Mother Earth, is how we’re going to experience life in the future.”
Beautiful video thank you for inspiring me to continue building relationship with those around me
As a Tsimshian/Athabaskan this makes me feel so proud.
I like when the Carver says my boys sing and they dance and they drum. He is showing his boys a life filled with meaning and purpose. Absolutely wonderful...
The "Rainbow Warriors" are teaching, with much more patience than we can ever imagine, the Warriors from Around the World who stand with The Creator and ALL Living Things to teach and prepare for a time of great need.
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed the show. My husband’s mother’s family is from CA. Her dad’s side was Native American. I hope that our country will start to teach more of the knowledge you have past down. The basketry, clothing, wood carving are all talents that need to be taught to future generations of Americans and people of the world. There needs to be classes taught in all states. All tribes should share their history, way of life, the skills unique to them.
Thank you for sharing your culture and wisdom with us.✨💫
I've a humangas cider tree and at the worst times in my life i used it to throw knives and darts but a acient native American spriutal begin came into my house and and seeing this made me realized my INGRONCE was his purpose. I've a small amount of native American in me but I'm a old 4th and 12th cavalry but the native American was humble in trusting a spriutal animal to guide them and trusting thier grandparents more than acient scribes.of scripture .they didn't make the 7 wonders but every thing was made by their own hands and not command by others
thank you dear sister and brother for sharing this ancient forgotten wisdom,I am thankfull for you all preserving this wisdom, once we have reincarnated as a cedar tree, like first time you arrived as a mountain of stone here on our beloved mother Earth, this is the true meaning of evolution peace love and harmony living within unity in all life as one we wish for you all dear brother and sister roy van zadel
Thank you for sharing your story, history and lives with all of us … I wish the word would follow your way 💞🙏🏻
I can’t help but think that this is some of the most Beautiful weaving I’ve ever seen!!! As I get older and research so many cultures and beliefs I’m am ever saddened how today’s world continues to wipe away our true connection with the Creator 😢
I am happy that your culture is being handed down, but I am tickedoff that government's try to use excessive controls over the lands you live, It's the same here in Hawaii.heres the Good news when Yeshua comes back He will make it right capt John dancing beard over and out
It's not being wiped away, it's expanding. ⚖️
Thank you for this... These words are just everything! Gill;Dx can we please all take note. They speak our childrens concerns. Every single word and sentiment! This is a Global matter. much love and deepest respect
Thank you from my heart for sharing your medicine teachings. ❤️🌲
Love the expression of native culture .. Long live native culture all of world
Thank You 🙏 for sharing and educating us. I appreciate you and your ways as I learn from your traditions and try to incorporate it into my life.
The narration by Floyd Red Crow Westerman is a nice touch.
This was beautiful thank you.
Thank you very much for posting this series for all to see. It saddens me to see how few views most all of these in this series has recieved. Especially after 5 years. They have been beautifully put together and yield much wisdom and knowledge. It is my hopes that we all one day wake up as a collective people to save what little is left. The cynic in me says that is unlikely, time will tell I suppose. Too busy chasing fools gold. Anyways, I digress. Many many thanks, I really appreciate all the hard work that went into making and distributing this work. Take care
Me too. It's not clickbaity enough for modern youth to watch. Rebels when I was kid had mohawks an black garb. Nowadays, it's those kids who play outside an don't have devices. Inverted reality we are in . We are on the precipice of major change, either good or ill. Efforts an awareness an love are our best weapons. 🌿💚💚
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING WORK! Human Beings never fail to amaze me with our ingenuity and creativity!! Do you ever have males who are inclined to this knowledge too?? I remember stories as a child of some "Gentle" men who did weaving and medicine, were inclined to a woman's world and very talented in weaving designs!?
I enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing and educating. I wish everyone cared and could/would work together.
"The landscape reflects the values of the people." No truer words there are. I was stymied yesterday watching an old film of NYC from 1930. Wall to wall everything in a mere 100 yrs or so. 😢 Trees? It's why people are crazy in cities.
Thank you so much for all of this. I have learned so much. Looking forward to learning more. 💖
I very much appreciate the things I learned at my elementary school about native American, particularly native Washingtonion cultures.
Excelente produção esse vídeo!!! Parabéns aos povos do Noroeste pelo renascimento de diversas tradições e pela atuação junto às instituições governamentais para manter o equilíbrio natural nos ecossistemas. 👏👏🤔🤔🤔❤🙏
The cedar painted with the images of the raven, killer whale, salmon, bear and moon made me weep. Just beautiful.
Beautiful and enlightening. Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing your Way. This knowledge can provide while respecting all our relations.
Nevermind thousands of thousands of years of riteful management disturbed by the very gatekeepers restricting access is insult upon cultural genocide.
If they could bottle the air, they would take it, trust me. As a New Zealander, our reconciliation process is farrrrr from perfect, but at least the past is acknowledged and processes for equity are ongoing. Don't take any shit from governments, and educating the general public about the true extent of your losses is the best way to get them on your side. It can happen; in my lifetime, the change in attitude toward Maori culture and the treaty process has been huge, and positive. Kicking back is the only way to recover your due. Don't wait for anyone to give you permission.
Thank you for this video🌲🌿🌳
I am so thankful to my God that ur people continue with the old ways, i hope to be able to learn how to use the cedar tree medicine in my area to help me with an ailment i have !!!
The challenge lies in the perception among some Indigenous communities that non-Indigenous individuals are separate from their own, which can lead to a lack of shared knowledge and values. The profound understanding, innovative ideas, and deep respect that native peoples hold for the land often remain uncommunicated to those outside their communities. Consequently, large segments of the population may lack awareness or appreciation for these natural environments. This disconnect can result in the pollution and destruction of these lands-affecting not only the areas inhabited by non-Indigenous people but also the ancestral territories of Indigenous communities.
Excellent. Wonderful to see the traditional methods of basket weaving and canoe making as well as the respect for the land.
We are of a like mindset concerning the arboreal world. I choose to live in them in a tent up north USA. I clean them, prop them up, song an talk to them. I fertilize them with my good food scraps. It's disgusting what our governments an drone people citizens do to them. Only modern man is so ignorant an wasteful to damage the things that make life possible. Taking for granted isbthe modern way. We are in the age of apathy, but it can be the age of return. Return to thw old ways. Much love an respect to anyone who seeks harmony with our mother. 💚🌿
Thank you for sharing

Harmony and sharing. So simple, yet we live in a greedy, violent world.😿
Incredible !!
I cant believe theyd be told to get a permit??? Its the other way around buddy!
very good video!!
So beautiful my Sistars and Brostars.
Hopefully the Karma of the Pioneers will force us to honor our true brothers and sisters of Mother Nature
Thank you! This is the type of education I had always wanted to learn while growing up. Sadly, it was not to be. This is one positive aspect of modern technology. Now if those who are so hellbent on destroying all that is, would just stop.

The Constitution of the United States of America starts with "We the People" & people need to take back their kingship & refuse to give permission to those "in power" to make the rules that are no longer in the interest of The People. Enough is Enough!
Most people, especially young people don’t understand the importance and the philosophy of the the Constitution of the USA. Like you said the government is “we the people” but ppl treat the government as a separate entity than themselves.
good stuff
To the southern tribe's cedar is sacred like sage is sacred to the southwestern tribe's.
thank you for charing honor
Reading all the comments gives me some seriously needed hope. We need kids to be into this, yhye are being duped into sych depravity these days, i fear they will are nothing for Earth's wonders.
Hopefully, they too have discovered the downside of plastic production and waste - its terrible impact on Mother Nature, consequently the impact upon all living things, even those thing we cannot see or rarely consider.
Have you heard the story of Cedar from the Hopi? That's my favorite story.
That's how you know it's authentic... When you hear drumming and flutes
Respect
Yes!
When you mentioned the two spirit types .. who help, You saved me,.. I've been struggling so hard, for so long. Scitzophrenia is a lie, .. Thank you, so help.. my two must, now, as I heard you tell the kind, I think it meant two different ones, one is in my eyes.. and has turned ink words a lit emerald green,.. and gold visions,.. My heart breaks because tomorrow, Monday, May 6th 2019 Seattle's going to destroy 5300 + trees that are lined along the I-5 freeway and have been there longer than most of us were alive , in order to make way for the light rail. The trucks are lined up at this moment. The death of all these magnificent trees and they're blessed inner spirits all the animals and Wildlife the Eagles the babies in the nests, the eco-systems, the insects and every part that has lived for so long among these trees are going to be destroyed tomorrow. They have written their papers that they will make a profit off the Trees. And all I can do is hear the cries of these Majestic and Magnificent Trees with their Own Souls their Own Ways of Connecting to One Another.... they are intending to do this all the way up to Bellingham which will mean the future death of Millions of Trees... this is not progress, this is destruction!
Love d native forever 🎉protecthem.help them to advance in life.gv them space❤
Thank you for sharing your believes ,teachings, tradicions and your way of life.

"The Yakima people manage their lands through community forestry practices. Community forestry takes its lessons from the forest."
All My Relations 🤲
They cut down twelve trees at my old work for a new playground and to plant non native trees in their place. Why? Two were Cedar and the others were Sequoias. Why replace with Jacaranda? It still makes me angry
HAPPY EASTER
Gilgamesh fought a monster over Cedars. Sacred.
When going deeper into the spriutal aspect you will precive live. These are your spriutal thoughts 3 types of a cunning enemy a cunning friend or cunning ingronce knowing is never learning learning is thinking so if you precive life where no life can exist you are preciveing your own thoughts.
What incenses are best for the spirits of springs, ponds and forests?
Which are the worst choice?
I bought some Mexican cigars but I'm not sure that spirits of nature
(water and trees) will be happy
I cannot find anywhere on Arizona gov/US Forest service mentioning red heart cedar is off limits to cut? I would think it would be. I was told even on Apache Res in the White Mountains Native Americans are no longer allowed to cut them down? Does someone know? They use to maks thierway to the valley and cities along the way
💪💞🌎🙏
I have made bird home with all kinds of this weeds or .
And the old worlders said that natives only wore skins, they had textiles but columbus and other invaders wanted people to see the first peoples as savage.
Ekosi Divine One 🤲 I will reinstate all Tribal Laws on NativeLand 🤲 A'HO 🤲 Ekosi 💖 Creator 🤲 A'HO 🤲 WarChiefLittleFawn 🤲
If I won the billion dollar lottery I know where the money would have gone to

Right. They have no right to take anything from the Natives.
9:03 David Boxley's voice and manurisms are very similar to Jordan Peterson.

👆
I like yaw,.. can I be yours? I think motherearth is all of yaw,.. every one . My other ear th. How did I make a cedar I took up with tribe still on, I broke the ankle bone when I pushed my. Cedar over to have a leg to stand on, bc I need the other foot, like in Afrika, bc spirit attacks my foot, and won't let up,.. so I got a gulf4,.. and carry him threshing
Maybe if you get all right to trees you can manage all this.
Looks like Polynesian
That's not good to cut off all stock.
💔
Please never refer to surviving as "economic" because that refers to money, and it is money that replaces true love and responsibility in our human world. "Economic" is a poison.
