Imagine he stopped making films because of these type of 'current affairs' shows bagging him just so they could get ratings and sell advertising. We lost a film maker that average people related to and loved.
I enjoyed his first film. It was shown in rented town halls and school halls because the regular theatres wouldn't touch it. Once it was clear it was popular it was shown on TV. But I never believed it was entirely genuine. Firstly, it started off by saying Alby bought a 16mm movie camera on a whim and set off with just one mate. Then it proceeded to show scenes that could only have been done in multiple takes with a film crew. The technology of the day meant that the camera would not have recorded sound, but Alby didn't mention that. Live action sound in those days was almost always recorded separately in studios (the only way to get speech clarity and no wind noise) using standard sound effects records, and was a skilled art. But the sound track was professionally and nicely done. The crux was when he supposedly sailed to a remote pacific island and discovered all sorts of machines & hardware left over from World War 2. Then he supposedly used 25 year old fuel found on the island to get an abandoned truck going. Yeah, right. I can just imagine a truck left for 25 years on a small pacific island would have electrics that worked. I worked for a while for a truck engine service company. We would occaisonally get guys come to us because they had filled up with fuel supplied by an outback cattle station - and got fuel that had been stored for 5 to 10 years - they had been ripped off. The usual result was after a short distance the engine would not run and had to be stripped down and cleaned. Alby or his crew did think to put knackered, perished tires on the truck though - these tires seemed to be in some scenes and not others.
The first one was great. The second was good, but obviously alot of staging. The 3rd one I didnt enjoy at all. But the first 2 definitely inspired me to travel the world, going to most of the same places and many more. Bit rich calling him a faker tho. All the media stage nonsense stories.
Here they never fabricated any of their current affairs shows what a joke.. Go Alby, we all love you, that is a true blue Aussie, the rest of you never left your couch, still don't, when you do it's called Glamping, go figure 😂❤
One thing’s true, and it shows in the comments... alby definitely got his way with the ladies, just look at you all defending your father on the internet
ACA never manipulate their stories.... what rubbish. I seem to remember when their helicopter crew found a lost tourist in the dessert that everyone had been looking for. ACA landed and gave the guy a banana, they then asked him if he could stumble around the dessert again so this time they could film him being found. Bloody disgusting. Good onya Alby.
More fool the people who thought it was real from the start....Seriously great watching though, shame people had to tear him down on something they should have knows all along.
I think the original world safari was mostly real, but over time he had expectations to meet and it gradually become more and more made for TV and fake.
The car accident took place weeks before it was reenacted, didn't you understand what he said. In addition we only have this camera man's here say testimony nothing substantial
Hahaha. Did these "journalists" really need to prove some of the scenes in his films were faked? That was obvious to me as a child watching them back in the day. I always thought they were just tongue and cheek and assumed everyone else thought the same.
He threw that poor dog out the window not once but 2 times that lieing lil pecker piece of crap & his shows aint no good neither .You can tell they all made up don't take a genius to see that lol .
I totally love all his films regardless of what might have to be "recreated" now and then - a necessity really for any film maker.
true or not,,thank you alby for sharing your adventures with us.
This interview is the absolute height of irony! Much love to Alby.
ACA questioning ANYONE'S integrity. What a joke
loved all of his docs
Pot calling the kettle black
ACA
ACA, gutter journalism at its worst

Met Alby in Adelaide airport……just sitting behind me! Absolutely great guy…….
I wonder if we could team up Alby, Mike and Mal and Bear Grylls..... imagine the Doco!!!!
Alby faked it when he crossed the Andes? How could you possibly fake that when that is literally what you're doing?
Oh the stench of hypocrisy , ACA the irony
Old mate did himself no favours with most of his answers.
Sounds like some people where jealous of his success, no documentary, or TV show isn't live
Speaking of creative editing, this cheap tabloid lot aca are the kings of trash. Alby's stuff is still great viewing.
Wow! this is like finding out that wrestling is fake...
WHAT!!!!! Its not real, lol.
Here they never fabricated any of their current affairs shows what a joke.. Go Alby, we all love you, that is a true blue Aussie, the rest of you never left your couch, still don't, when you do it's called Glamping, go figure 😂❤
