The first Balochi feature film, Hammal-o-Mahganj, was produced by Anwar Iqbal and released in Pakistan in 1976. However, the film never made it to the screen amidst protests by cultural activists who alleged it misrepresented Baloch culture. A slogan used by the protest movement was "Balochi film chalay ga tou cinema jalay ga" (If Balochi films are screened, cinemas will be burnt) Analysts believe the film's release became politicised, as PPP activists favoured the film while Baloch nationalist groups opposed it. Iqbal later arranged a private screening of the film to address the reservations, where Sindh's labour minister-cum-PPP leader Abdullah Baloch was a key attendee. According to The News, those who viewed it "agreed that the film did not have anything that went against the Baloch culture". The declining quality of erstwhile Punjabi and Pashto cinema reportedly contributed to the Baloch activists' sentiments. This is believed to have dented the Balochi film industry's initial growth.
Now I m thinking to write hindi adaptation on it..

First Officially recognised Balochi movie. The premier of this movie held at Kismat Talkies, Karachi, but unfortunately after first show of this unfortunate movie the Cinema was burnt out and the rest of the shows were cancelled for ever. Some of shinning stars of Balochi literature such as Sayad Hashmi, Atta Shad, Ahmed etc., were wrote songs of this movie. Anwar Iqbal, Shaista Qaisar, A.R. Baloch, Saqi and Noor Mohamed Lashir played lead roles in this movie. Rest is history.
حمل ما گنج ایک تاریخی فلم تھا اور اسے اپنے وقت پر ریلیز ھونا چاہئیے تھا لیکن بد قسمتی سے نہیں ھوا اور میں دعوے سے کہتا ھوں کہ حمل و ما گنج دوسرے پاکستانی فلموں سے بہتر تھا اور ہمیں ایسی فلم بنانے کی ضرورت ھے اور میں یہ امید کرتا ھوں کہ مستبقل میں ایسی تاریخی فلمیں بنائی جائینگی

I enjoyed this movie a lot, there was nothing to protest and burn cinemas for this movie. I think simple baloch folks were not ready for this breakthrough.

Hammal O Mahganj is a Pakistani Balochi-language film released in 1976. It is known as the first feature Balochi film. The film could not make it to the cinemas due to political pressure.
The film was produced by Anwar Iqbal who also played the lead role in the film along with Nadir Shah Adil, Aneeta Gul, Saqi and Noor Mohammad Lashari.
Set in the 15th century when Portuguese discovered Indian subcontinent, the story revolves around a man who stands against the Portuguese for the honour of his motherland. The film was screened in 2017 on 28 February, Baloch Culture day.
