    Doris Day had a soft, beautiful, calming voice and a cute laugh. She seemed happy. Lucy had a hard, tough intense voice and seemed unhappy. The contrast between the two is striking. I loved and respected them both so much, and miss them.

      Actually Lucille Ball had a good career (The Lucy Show) and a good second marriage at the time with Gary Morton. I think her voice reflected her natural voice not the high pitched voice people were used to in I Love Lucy. When I saw pictures of Lucy at the time she seemed very happy - things, in professional and personal life going well for her. 4 years after this interview she starred with Henry Fonda in "Yours, Mine, and Ours", a critical and financial success. (1968) also in 1967 & 1968 won back to back Emmys for the Lucy Show.

    Two of the most talented adored women in all of America; ever!! And they are great because of their core values of hard work dedication to their craft and above all; not becoming self absorbed. The biggest problem with so called celebrities today who could never come even somewhat close to the popularity these two magnificent ladies have amassed.

      mary rawson .guest). Hi Mary. Just to echo your post about films of ' the old days'. I so often dip into You Tube to see lovely old films, ( and some corny or ' ham ' ones , but they are interesting as well ). The films today are so full of violence and nastiness.I look song the long lines of DVDs at our local Asda, ( and notice the trailers on t.v.?) , and they are almost all violence, war, stress, crisis, etc. Always blood, pain, explosions : why do they think we want all that ?! Debbie Reynolds was one of many stars who made entertaining films, gentle humour, plausible stories, great costumes and sets.....Debbie ( wasn't it so sad about her being so distraught about the loss of daughter Carrie Fisher, that Debbie died too, right afterwards) ......Debbie said that there's no need for all the shocking stuff 'they ' assume we want to see now. I agree. I love the wonderful films we can still see ( bless You Tube!😊 ) : you give your attention, and are seldom disappointed. And with so much trouble in the world, the 'great golden age ' of films, of which Doris Day was a large part, lets us escape into a nicer world for a while ....☺.

      Tarn Sand yes you are o right. What happened to Hollywood. It is awful now

    • @Larsen3306
      @Larsen3306 3 года назад +1

      @@tomsanders5766 true Tom it is just awful. So much violence, and controversy in films they make these days. The days of Hollywood starlets and movie stars are long past, sadly. Who knows though, maybe, just maybe, when “they” say what goes around comes around, might just come around again ☺️
      I also think that the people who run show business these days are rotten to the core; they don’t really SEEM to care about their employees or the public who sees the films (tv too!) I deeply believe they care more, AND MOSTLY about HOW MUCH MORE $$$$$ “THEY” can get !
      My Mom is 90 years old and she’s a very kind, positive, spiritual woman although she’s been saying for many years now how sad that so many in the world seem to be self absorbed, and self centered, anymore :(
      A happier note I had the fortune of meeting Lucille Ball when I lived in California years ago I was at a party where she was being honored and she was really terrific. I loved Lucille Ball, and Doris Day, of course as well ! They will forever live on as “classic great STARS” ⭐️ ⭐️

      anthony campos I have always admired DD, Anthony. For me she symbolizes everything that is good, decent and healthy in a very appealing way, embracing tolerance and a capacity to affirm her values while respecting those who think differently. As an artist she is unique: excellent as an actress, singer and entertainer. She has style, class, a natural elegance that is recognizable at first sight. DD has always made me happy with her films and records. She has brought light into my life ever since I was a young teenager. God bless her for that!

In fact, just a couple of weeks ago, Doris Day was the featured guest star on Sirius Satellite's Siriusly Sinatra station that was broadcast around the country (and around the world for that matter). It was a 3-hour interview....they talked and talked and played much of her music. It was FABULOUS! Remember....Doris Day is the number one female box office draw of all time!

    Wow to have two favorites chatting with each other is such a treasure. I did a virtual tour of Doris Day's Auction (Juliens's Auction) which will occur in April 4th and 5th and saw some of items being Auctioned. I was wondering if the auction be televised so the public can watch the bidding. Lucille Ball is so generous in her interactions. Very interesting to learn the two different styles they have in delivering their dialog. Both are such pros and naturals.

It is like she said. props are a tough thing.... you have to think not how you handle a glass, but, how would the character handle a glass.... it takes focus . So much talent in one room there must have been a 'glow' coming from that studio. i got emotional listening to this.... I miss Lucille Ball soooo much, and I hope Doris is OK and well cared for.

      Buster Keaton worked with her, not Charlie Chaplin. And it was the perfect education -- learning from a silent screen comedian to perfect her visual performance. She also spent time observing Jack Benny (the top radio star at the time) performing his radio show, learning from the master of verbal humor. Then she put the visual and verbal together and became the master of it all.

    Census records show she was really born April 3, 1922. She will be 91 soon. Most actresses shaved off a few years, or occassionally had to add a few because they were underage, like Ann Miller when she began. She did a filmed interview for England between one and two years ago to promote a new album of previously unreleased material. (I've never seen it marketed in America.) Aside from looking and sounding remarkably well, it was obvious that she had not some but all of her marbles.

    God. I could simply eat Doris Day's voice. Is that weird? It's just...edible.

    This is a 1965 not a 1964 interview. "Do Not Disturb" did not go into production until January 11, 1965, concluding on April 6, 1965.
