- What is the best hotel in Birmingham? I think The Kelly Birmingham, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is definitely in the conversation. I CAN say that it is my favorite Hilton property in the City of Birmingham. Watch this video before you decide where you'll be staying for your trip to BHAM.
I cover why I think this is the best hotel in the city, based on quality, comfort, location, and price. I'll also show you a few restaurants that I recommend if you stay on Birmingham's North Side.
With the World Games 2022 coming to the Magic City this Summer, I'm trying to help first-time visitors get the most out of their Birmingham visit. On my channel you'll find reviews of what I believe are the best Hotels, Bars, Restaurants, Breweries, and Golf Courses that Birmingham, Alabama has to offer.
For this stay, I ate dinner at Cayo Coco Rum Bar, which is a must-do! (Reservations strongly recommended)
In the video, you'll see we had the Polynesian Pork Belly (5/5), the Greg Abram’s Pan Seared Black Grouper (4.5/5), and the Joyce Farm’s Jamaican Jerk Chicken (4/5). For Drinks, we had the Guri Guri and the Sunset Boulevard.

We finished with Desert at The Essential, where we had the Carrot Cake, an Espresso, and a Hi-Wire IPA. The Essential is also a great option for Dinner or Brunch. (Very busy for both)

For Brunch, we enjoyed at 10 minute walk to Roots and Revelry, where we had the stuffed french toast and the sweet potato hash. They also offer bottles of Champagne with your choice of juices for only $22. (Reservations recommended)

The Hotel is only about 15 minutes from the Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport, so an Uber will be very inexpensive. It's also on the quiet side of downtown (North Side), where the more upscale bars and restaurants are. Despite what you may have heard about the city, downtown Birmingham is very safe. Most Crime takes place in the suburbs to the East and West of the city.

I travel to Brum usually once a year. We're looking for somewhere to stay which isnt too pricey. Staying for about 10 days and want something central. Used to stay at the Britannic, new st, til it closed down.
I was at the Civil Rights Museum downtown four years ago, but it was dismaying to see so many beautiful buildings that need tenants, business and renovation. There were a LOT of unemployed young men near the police station too.
It’s much better than even before the pandemic. There is a homeless shelter or two right around the police station, which could be why you saw a couple guys hanging around.
