    Nicely done. My body says go lighter, but I haven't really done it yet. But I like your set up and your approach. I would swap out the sandals for a knife, but that's just me. Thanks for posting this.

    • @tommy-vella
      @tommy-vella  3 месяца назад

      Yeah, this lightweight thing can be a mess some times. I hate to carry a heavy pack but a lot of the ultra light stuff just doesn’t do it for me. It was trial and error and being honest to myself for almost every single piece of gear. I totally understand your thoughts on the sandal / knife setup and I guess your way of seeing it makes a lot of sense to most of the backpackers out there. I just never missed a knife on my trips.

    Regarding the ratings on sleeping bags. If they are tested to the ISO rating then for example a O Degree Comfort rated bag will perform the same regardless of brand. If your bag is for example ISO rated Comfort -2 and you get cold and the temperature is above -2 then you need to get a warmer rated bag. Also what you eat before going to sleep makes a big difference, take a small container of olive oil and add some oil to your evening meal.

    • @tommy-vella
      @tommy-vella  5 месяцев назад

      Yes. You are right. They are comparable and I am super happy that this rating system exists. I am just a warm sleeper and need a warmer sleeping bag :) The food is a great tip and if I remember correctly fat will keep warm for way longer than sweet food. Oil should work great. Thank you!

    Hi, first, nice content. Thanks for sharing!
    I have a question on the rain jacket. The Haglofs looks good in terms of impermeability and I can get it at a good sales price. What is your feedback with regard to the breathability?

    • @tommy-vella
      @tommy-vella  26 дней назад +1

      Unfortunately it is not breathable at all. It is just one layer of waterproof material. If you want something breathable you should look for a rain jacket with a goretex layer or something similar. I bring this jacket because it is super light and compact and I don’t need it very often. If you wear it during exercise you might probably get sweaty and wet from the inside.

    Amazing video! Keep up the good work! :) A question to the Forclaz minimal edition 1P tent: I would really love to buy the tent, but the white color is blocking my buying choice. Why white? I know they did it to save some emissions. But using an all white tent doesn't really fit in the nature. Especially in the woods or when you want to stealth camp :D What is your experience with the color? Did you got into some problems? Like get caught wild camping?
    I think I'll just keep using my tarp with an elephant skin from the Germany Bundeswehr as a mattress shield.
    Greets from Germany!

    • @tommy-vella
      @tommy-vella  5 месяцев назад

      Yes, the white color is quite special but I actually like it a lot. For stealth camping it might not be the right choice though, unless you are planning to camp in snow :) For me it is not an issue as I don't need to hide while camping.
      As far as I know Decathlon is thinking about another color but I have no idea when and if it is going to happen.

    • @differenz7754
      @differenz7754 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@tommy-vella Thank you for your answer! Yeah, the snowy argument is a good one :D Sadly i have to hide while biwaking here in Germany. Sometimes sleeping in the woods is a gray zone in the law. But most times its not.
      Okay, that’s sounds nice! I hope that they wont make us wait for long time!

    Such a good video! I just got a 65L Osprey Atmos AG because I wanted to invest in something I can use for longer trips however I will be doing a lot of 2-3 nights. Do you have to pack your pack all the way full to balance it out or do you think I can get away with packing it half way for trips.

    • @tommy-vella
      @tommy-vella  4 месяца назад

      Hey Ethan, I guess you will be totally fine and balancing your pack should not be a problem. Try to pack your heavy items like your tent poles and your cooking system close to your body and use the compression straps. If the pack is not filled to the top it might be wise to not put too much stuff into the top compartement. Just try it out at home. It is always good to have a pack that is too big rather than too small. The only downside will be that your pack is a little heavy for a 2-3 night trip but thats totally fine I guess. Enjoy your adventures!

    Are those NF shoes waterproof? I saw them on their website and they say they are, but finding the same colourway on other stores they don't mention it
